브레이크 저더 개선을 위한 시스템 모드분석 및 민감도해석 (System Mode and Sensitivity Analysis for Brake Judder Reduction)

  • The brake judder is a phenomenon that the steering wheel is abnormally vibrating when the car is braked at a high speed. It is classified by the cold and the hot judder. The former is generated due to the initial uneven disk surface and the latter is resulted from the uneven heat spots on disc surface by repeatedly braking. There are two ways to reduce the judder. One is to control vibration by modification of the disk shapes and pad ingredients. The other is to improve modal characteristics of the suspension system. The latter approach is used in this research. In this paper, the real vehicle test and computer simulation are considered to systematically understand the judder phenomenon of the vehicle. The Macpherson strut suspension is employed. Especially, the judder sensitivity is calculated based on design sensitivity analysis. A bush stiffness was reworked and braking test was done to verify the sensitivity result. The judder reduction by the mode control was verified.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 브레이크 저더가 자동차 브레이크 시스템에서 나타나는 많은 문제중에 하나 이며,연구자들이나 엔지니어가 브레이크 저더를 최소화하기 위하여 원인과 메카니즘에 대해 연구하고 있음에도 불구하고 나타나는 현상이다.운전자들이 느끼는 것은 핸들이나 브레이크 페달 또는 차체 바닥에서 오는 높은 주파수의 진동으로 느낄수 있으며 소음도 같이 동반하게 된다.따라서 고장사례를 통하여 운전자가 디스크 브레이크의 길들이기를 하거나 디스크의 열변형 부분을 제거하여 브레이크 저더를 저감 할수 있도록 조치방법에 대해서 고장사례 연구를 하였다.

  • 차량 제동시 디스크와 패드사이의 미끄럼 접촉에 의해 발생하는 마찰열은 재질의 열 탄성 변형을 일으키고, 이는 접촉면의 압력 분포에 영향을 끼친다. 이러한 열탄성 불안정성 (Thermo-Elastic Instability, TEI)은 디스크의 고유 진동모드와 결합되어 열섬 현상 및 열간 저더 진동을 발생시킨다. 본 연구에서는 상용 유한 요소 해석 프로그램인 SAMCEF 를 이용하여 자동차용 통풍식 디스크에 대한 3 차원 열간 저더 해석을 수행하였다. Staggered approach 에 의거한 중간 처리기를 이용하여 구조-동역학 해석 결과와 열 전달 해석 결과를 교환하였다. 디스크 표면에 열섬이 발생하는 것을 확인하였고, 이를 디스크 고유 진동 모드와 비교함으로써 모드 형상과 열섬 분포의 관계를 분석하였다.

  • Brake judder of an automotive vehicle is defined as an abnormal vibration of low frequency during braking. Under the assumption that judder occurs due to disc run-out and is a resonance phenomenon with a specific parts of the automobile, computational simulations using SAMCEF software were performed in this paper. The results show that the stabilizer of the car is a possible part which makes the judder vibration due to resonance. And initial braking velocity, the magnitude of run-out, and the friction coefficient between disk and pad are the influential factors to the brake judder.

  • The brake judder comes from non-uniformities in the tire/wheel assembly caused by mechanical effects such as a brake torque variation (BTV). A disc thickness variation (DTV) related with the kinematic behavior of the disc was investigated a main source of BTV. In this study, a dynamic model with brake corner assembly of full vehicle using MSC.ADAMS was correlated by experiment of judder phenomenon. Judder was generated and correlated systematically by judder experiment in chassis and brake dynamometer from variation in the thickness of the disc. Also it has been found a judder transfer path and variation of the braking pressure. Through analysis of transfer function and movement of subsystem caused by BTV generation, design parameters have been found. Based on the results obtained from parameter study of suspension module, the effective design process and developed model with brake corner assembly was suggested for vibration reduction of steering wheel caused by the judder phenomenon.

  • The abnormal vibration from the BTV(Brake Torque Variation) and DTV(Disc Thickness Variation) is transferred to the suspension and steering system during braking. In this paper, judder simulation is carried out using multi-body dynamic analysis program to analyze the relation of the judder and transfer mechanism which is composed of the suspension and steering system. In order to analyze the brake judder transfer system, the full vehicle model was composed with rigid body, non-linear bushing, non-linear constraints and joints. Full vehicle model analysis was compared by actual vehicle judder test and sensitivity analysis of the suspension system is carried out.

  • In the high speed driving conditions, the vibrational phenomena with relation to chassis system are becoming more important factors in chassis design and development. To verify the effects of a body structure in brake judder, body structure is modeled in flexible.   • The problem of brake judder is typically caused by quality defects in manufacturing. This quality problem, however, can't be controlled deterministically and requires analyses and designs considering uncertainties. This paper presents a method for dynamic analysis of a brake judder considering uncertainties. Firstly, quality defects, which come from the uncertainties, are determined by examination of symptoms of the brake judder quality problem. Effective quality defects are selected by investigation of process capability and comparison of sensitivity of each quality defects and noise levels of the effective quality defects are determined. Secondly, flexible multibody dynamic analysis and finite element analysis according to the proposed method are carried out. Finally, The analysis results are compared with the test results with noise levels of the effective quality defects.

디스코 브레이크에서 열섬 현상이 발생되는 원인과 저더진동에 미치는 영향 (The Origin and Effect of Hot Spot Phenomena on Judder Vibration in Automotive Disk Brake)

  • Hot spot phenomenon is caused by non-uniform contact area between brake pad and disk frequent braking. Brake disk deformed by locally concentrated heat increases magnitude of frictional vibration. And this deformation can highly influence the judder vibration. In this experimental study, vibration and hot spot was measured in accordance with rotation of disk and pressure of master cylinder for finding the factors that causes hot spot phenomena. For comparing hot spot aspects with mode shapes of disk, mode shapes were measured by conducting modal test, and analyzed by using finite element analysis. Relation between hot spot phenomenon, and mode shape, pressure of master cylinder and rotation speed of disk respectively, was achieved by hot spot measurement and frequency analysis.
