Economic and Political Responses to Globalization: Economic Restructuring and Local Government as an Entrepreneur (세계화에 따른 경제${\cdot}$정치적 동향: 경제재구조와 기업가로서의 지방정부)

  • Since the world's economic and political structures have changed, the term 'globlization' has shown up as a dominant power and as a necessity for regional and national development. Each nation is responding to the globalization process economically and politically in various ways. In general, however, the economic response to the globalization is economic restructuring from the Fordist industries to 'flexible specialization'. And the political response to the globalization is 'global localization' as a new type of local politics(i.e., local policy activism or growth-enhancing local development policies). The crisis of Fordism shifted the role of local governments towards more involovement with local economic development. Local governments are mobilizing for loca economic development, they are taken into a process of institutional change that tends to redefine their responsibilities inside the state. Local governments thus tend to act as an entrepreneur in order to restructure theiir local economies and to compete with other national and international regions. State restructuring towards enerepreneurialism and efficient regional policy pursuing a pro-growth coalition trategy is chosen as a new mode of regulation for the post-Fordism at the local level. The flexible specialization as the post-Fordist economy and the local government as an entrepreneur are the global choice for globalization and a post-Fordist society. The paper focuses on the regulation theory which comprises the political economic perspective on resturcturing. Economic restructuring and state restructuring will be discussed in detail. And the paper tries to combine the economic globalization and the global localization as economic and political responses to globalization.

  • While global production supply chains are expected to shift toward friendly or allied countries, pandemic-shoring such as nearshoring and friendshoring, due to increased protectionism and the reorganization of regional value chains in the wake of the global pandemic, the study found that economic rather than political factors are still at play in consumer supply chains. In the case of Chinese e-commerce market (C-commerce), the study attributes the rapid growth of the market to (1) related regulatory relaxations introduced to stimulate consumption after the end of COVID-19, (2) an increasing pattern of wanting to consume more for a limited income and (3) unconventional business activities to increase their share of the global consumption market. Through these phenomena, the production-consumption network is likely to develop into a more fragmented form, and the consumption network in particular is expected to become more fragmented, influenced by the digital technology war, a phenomenon of re-globalization.

A Study on the Globalization of Korean Food and Actual Conditions of Korean Restaurants in Australia by an In-Depth IntelView (호주 현지 한식당의 실태와 심층면접에 의한 한식 세계화 방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest methods to globalize Korean food and actual conditions of Korean restaurants in Brisbane and Sunny Bank, Australia. The period of the survey was from July 19 to Aug 13, 2010. As a analysis method, in-depth interviews were conducted and the result was suggested by general arrangement in cases that responses to the interview questions were considered overlapping or similar. The result of the study on methods to globalize Korean food is as follows. First, development and improvement of favorable cuisine for Australians is essential. Second, the government should lead the promotion of food supply and dishes. Third, personnel in the food industry not only need to be trained to communicate well but also have exposure to different cultures around the world. For the limit of the study, it was difficult to secure enough samples of the subjects for an in-depth interview due to lack of numbers of Korean restaurants. In future studies, research on new methods for the globalization of Korean food should be conducted by doing research on Korean restaurants in other areas of Australia.

  • As globalization progresses and localization takes place, interest in local culture is increasing. In line with this trend, the Cultural Heritage Administration has been promoting the Cultural Heritage Night Tour Project as a night-type cultural property tourism content since 2016. Cultural property nightlife, part of the regional regeneration project, creates new added value by converging and combining various historical and cultural-related contents centered on local cultural heritage. Although the "cultural nightlife" has been greatly activated, it is judged that changes are needed to continue. This is because fixed nightlife programs are positive in terms of establishing a nationwide network, but there is a limitation in that they cannot be standardized and expanded to various forms. Therefore, in this study, the meaning and limitations of nightlife programs were identified, and cognitive theory applicable to nightlife programs was considered. Through this process, it was confirmed that cognitive poetry's 'circular for dynamic semantic composition', 'surreal foreground', and 'adventures in time and space' can be applied to nightlife programs. As a result of combining cognitive poetry with nightlife programs, it was possible to present a strategy for implementing nightlife programs differentiated from existing nightlife programs.

  • The study sought ways to promote the global recognition of Korean food items. The Korean cuisine is one of the healthiest and well-balanced in the world. But, in contrast to countries including the United States, France, China, Japan, Thailand and Australia that have adopted food promotion and marketing strategies, Korea lacks a similar strategy. Development of indigenous sauces by Korean food manufacturers and processors is one route in the promotion of Korean cuisine. Korean restaurant franchising could also aid in export of Korean food items. The food manufacturing/processing sectors must work in concert with the Korean government to globalize the Korean cuisine. Brand chefs, Korean cuisine seminars and promotional efforts in foreign countries and foreign cooking schools (such as the 'Taste Korea' campaign) are prudent actions.

A Study on the Influence of Food Styling Factors on Customer Satisfaction, Revisit Intention, and Recommendation Intention - Focusing on Korean Fusion Cuisine (푸드스타일링 요인이 고객만족도, 재방문 의도 및 추천 의도에 미치는 영향 - 퓨전한식을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to analyze customer satisfaction, revisit intention, and recommendation intention of food styling of Korean fusion cuisine in order to establish the development of food styling of Korean fusion cuisine and to develop the marketing strategies for food styling of Korean fusion cuisine. A survey was conducted in Korean fusion restaurants during the month of August 2013. A valid sample of 150 questionnaire sheets returned were analyzed using SPSS version 21.0. Results of this study showed that food styling of Korean fusion cuisine influenced customer satisfaction, revisit intention, and recommendation intention. Food styling factors such as food and plate, linen and centerpiece, cutlery, and, glassware influenced customer satisfaction, revisit intention, and, recommendation intention. This study suggests to develop a scheme for modern food styling for the globalization of Korean cuisine.
