In this paper, an efficient algorithm is established in order to estimate the plastic properties of power-law hardening bulk specimen materials with one simple spherical indentation impression test. This work is based on a new formulation of representative strain and, therefore, compare to the preceding approaches the fitting parameters are significantly reduced. Moreover, the new definition of representative strain endowed more physical meaning to the representative strain. In order to verify the reliability of the reverse analysis, we have studied a broad set of materials whose property ranges cover essentially all engineering metals and alloys. Based on the indentation force-displacement P-${\delta}$ curves obtained from numerical simulations, the characteristics of the indentation response and material elastoplastic properties are bridged via explicit functions. Next, through the procedure of reverse analysis the yield stress and power-law hardening exponent of bulk specimen materials can be determined. Finally, good agreement between the result from reverse analysis and initial input data from experiment can be observed.
We confirmed that poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) fiber had the possibility to improve the mechanical properties of polypropylene (PP) by fabricating PP/PET fiber composites because PET enhanced mechanical properties and higher melting temperature than PP. But lower compatibility of between PP and PET fibers induced poor mechanical properties of PP/PET fiber composites in spite of incorporating PP-g-MAH as compatibilizer. To solve these problems of PP/PET fiber composites, we carried out a surface treatment on PET fiber using NaOH solution and Prepared PP/PET fiber composites with good mechanical properties by adding PP-g-MAH as a compatibilizer Then the behavior of the mechanical properties was correlated with the results obtained from SEM and IR spectroscopy.
In general, the development of thermoplastic composites has been confronted with difficult problems such as the weak bonding strength between fibers and matrix. However, now, such problems are being surmounted by the development of resins, the improvement of processes, and introduction of interphase. Especially, the introduction of interphase between fiber and matrix can help a dissipation of the impact energy and provide a good adhesion between fibers and matrix. In this study, polymeric interphase was introduced by electrodeposition, modified polypropylene was added to improve the weak bonding strength between interphase and polypropylene matrix. By evaluation of interlaminar shear strength and impact strength of the composites, it was found that composites with introduced composites showed higher mechanical properties than those of composites without interphase. Reactive polymers which have either anhydride or free acid functional group were used as interphase materials, and these polymers also behave as charge carrier in aqueous solution during the electrodeposition process. Weight gain on the carbon fibers was evaluated by changing process parameters such as concentration of solution, current density, and electrodeposition time.

This study performs the thermal aging of chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) for 807.36 and 1,614.48 hours at $110^{\circ}C$, which is equivalent to 40 and 80 years of aging at $50^{\circ}C$ in nuclear power plants, respectively. Flat-type CSPEs were soaked in seawater for five days and then dried for five days at room temperature. Furthermore, the soaked CSPEs were cleaned for 5 days with fresh water and dried for 1,100 days at room temperature. Through this process, the log IV of the CSPEs decreases, whereas the dissipation factor of the CSPEs increases as thermally accelerated aged years increase at the measured frequency. Although the phase degree of the response voltage versus excitation voltage of the CSPEs increases, that of the response current versus excitation voltage decreases with the thermally accelerated aging. The thermal conductivity of the CSPEs increases slightly, but the thermal diffusivity does not vary with the thermally accelerated aged year increase. The displacement of the compressive strength of the CSPEs decreases gradually as the thermally accelerated aged years increase.
Recently, environmental pollution caused by plastic waste, ecosystem disturbance of micro-plastics and human body accumulation are becoming big problems. In order to replace the traditional plastic, eco-friendly resin and natural fiber-based composite materials have been developed, but they have a disadvantage that their mechanical properties are significantly lower than those of synthetic fiber-based composites. In this study, eco - friendly nanofiber was extracted from seaweed and used as an additive in order to improve the mechanical properties of jute fiber-reinforced composites. Through the hand lay-up process, the composites were fabricated, and it was confirmed that the nanofiber was effective in improving the mechanical properties of natural fiber composites through tensile, bending and drop weight impact tests.

Carbon nanotubes reinforced copper matrix laminated nanocomposites were developed and the mechanical properties were evaluated by using micro-tensile testing system. Sandwich-type laminated structure constituted with carbon nanotube layers as a reinforcement and electroplated copper matrix were fabricated by a new processing approach based on selective dip-coating of carbon nanotubes. The mechanical properties of nanocomposites were improved due to an enhanced load sharing capacity of carbon nanotubes homogeneously distributed within the in-plane direction, as well as a bridging effect of carbon nanotubes along the out-of-plane direction between the upper and lower matrices. The universality of the layering approach is applicable to a wide range of functional materials, and here we demonstrate its potential use in reinforcing composite materials.
This paper established the procedure to fabricate the MWNT/PMMA nanocomposite by using together with injection molding and film casting processes. The fabrication process made it possible for MWNTs to be well dispersed in the PMMA matrix and also it could maintain the well-dispersed state effectively. And the mechanical material properties and SEM images of the fractural surface were observed. Moreover, a surfactant was used to disperse MWNTs more effectively and mechanical material properties were also investigated.

In this study, the stiffness of spatially reinforced composites (SRC) are predicted by using superposition of a rod and matrix stiffnesses in an arbitrary direction. To confirm the predicted values, the material properties of SRC are measured. The predicted values from the volume average of stiffness matrix are consistent with the tested values in a rod direction, but are inconsistent in an off-rod direction while reverse is true fur the volume average of compliance matrix. Therefore, the harmony function from superposition of stiffness and compliance matrix is introduced. The predicted values from the harmony function are consistent with the tested values in both the rod and the off-rod directions.
