  • People with auditory processing disorders(APD) do not exactly understand what they hear with normal hearing levels because of difficulties in the processing of auditory information in auditory nervous system. The purposes of this study are to investigate intervention strategies suggested by current literatures and to develop a guide map for APD intervention. The problem based intervention strategies are customized to the specific deficits of a subtype of Buffalo model and Bellis/Ferre model and general intervention strategies are recommended with compensatory strategy, auditory training, environmental modification and so on. Multidisciplinary team should determine and provide various intervention strategies to improve auditory capabilities of a child with APD intensively and persistently. APD intervention guide map is organized with four steps. It helps clinicians and teachers related with the intervention of APD find appropriate intervention strategies and process in order to reduce difficulties of a child with APD and a suspected APD.

  • Epistemological development process of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus is considered in a history of mathematical notions and the genetic process of the Fundamental Theorem is arranged by the order of geometric, algebraic and formalization steps. Based on this, we studied students' episte- mological obstacles and error and analyzed the content of textbooks related the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. Then, We developed the "Folding Back Model" of the fundamental theorem of calculus for students to lead meaningful faithfully. The Folding Back Model consists of "the Framework of thou- ght"(figure V-1) and "the Model of genetic understanding of concept"(figure V-2). The framework of thought in the Folding Back Model is included steps of pedagogical intervention which is used "the Monitoring working questions"(table V-3) by the mathematics teacher. The Folding Back Model is applied the Pirie-Kieren Theory(1991), history of mathematical notions and students' epistemological obstacles to practical use of instructional design. The Folding Back Model will contribute the professional development of mathematics teachers and improvement of thinking skills of students when they learn the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore and better understand special education music teachers' perceptions of their music curriculum. For this purpose, we conducted a focus group interview with seven special education music teachers. During the interview, four major themes and 14 sub-themes were identified. The main themes were the following: (a) types of applied activities and the goals of music classes (e.g., activities to be applied in various ways depending on the characteristics of the disability and intended outcome), (b) difficulty in implementing the music curriculum (e.g., lack of fit between textbook and students' chronological ages, lack of time and focus, self-evaluation of performance as a music teacher, (c) therapeutic experiences during music classes (e.g., expectation for positive effects through music therapy, joy of witnessing changes in students, and sense of togetherness), and (d) obstacles to the therapeutic approach of music classes and need for support (e.g., lack of professional knowledge regarding therapeutic approaches and problems with administrators and school environment). Based on these results, problems in implementing the music therapy approach as part of the music curriculum in special education schools are discussed and practical solutions for educators are offered.

  • The main object of this study is to render a better dental education to mental disabilities, teachers, and their parents. By providing a better dental education to them, mental disabilities would understand the importance of their oral hygiene. The study was held in Seoul at two different locations, named H and E mental welfare facilities. Ninety Three mental disabilities were studied by observing their oral behavior, simple oral hygiene index and plaque index prior and post to dental education. At the end of education, following result were gathered from two mental facilities. First, the level of oral behavior in Class 1,2, and 3 mental disabilities were observed prior and post to the dental education. Overall, there was no significant difference among Class 1 mental disabilities with the dental education. Second, in simple oral hygiene index, the severity of mental illness has affected on their oral behavior (F=6.322, p<.001). Third, in simple oral hygiene index, the frequency of dental education, regardless of severity of mental illness has affected on their oral hygiene (F=5.961, p<.01). Fourth, the plaque index also illustrated that the frequency of dental education, regardless of severity of dental illness has affected on their oral hygiene (F=5.126, p<.05). Finally, the general characteristics of mental disabilities according to changes in oral health awareness to gender, age, disability type, educational level do not statistically significant in all variables. Their simple oral hygiene index and plaque index advanced, although after a while they started to lose focus, which brought back their old habits. Nevertheless, in conclusion I believe that helping mental disabilities more frequently to constant reminder, will not only keep them entertained, but help them realize how important oral hygiene practice is, hopefully increasing and benefiting those with mental disabilities for future reference.

  • This study was conducted for the purpose of making the better utilization of MBL in class, based on 2009 curriculum which emphasizes research activities and recommends the direct use of the MBL. We investigated primary, secondary and pre-service teachers' satisfaction and perception level after conducting training about making good use of MBL. The satisfaction level of the training turned out to be high, level of applicability of MBL, expected improvement in learning skills of students and the will to apply it in class was high. The answer that they expect MBL to increase students' curiosity and interest in science was the highest among the survey results, which means that MBL could be used as a solution to lack of students' interest in science. Besides, primary teachers than secondary and pre-teachers, long careered teachers than short careered teachers and MBL-experienced teachers than inexperienced teachers showed more satisfaction and the will to adapt MBL overall. Primary and pre-teachers hoped MBL training to be more related to STEAM education, whereas secondary teachers wanted the training to have more to do with increasing creativity If advanced MBL training program is opened. The price was chosen as the best obstacle to MBL class' application, and the lack of manual for experiment and education to teacher was also pointed out secondly. In conclusion, if MBL is fully equipped in school and training on how to take advantage of it is provided continually, It is expected that MBL could increase the utilization in the field of science education. The results of this paper can be used when you configure the MBL utilization training program.
