As of 2015, the number of handicapped people accounted for 26 percent of the total population and the number has been increasing every year. There are many restrictions on transportation, especially for visually impaired and wheelchair users, from existing buildings to other buildings. This study takes note of this and develops algorithms for producing applications for the direction of traffic for people who are blind and wheelchair users The algorithms developed through this study take into account stairs, thresholds and widths for wheelchair users, while guiding elevators and ramps first and supporting all guidance, including obstacles, by voice for the blind. This study is judged to contribute greatly to the development of applications for the actual traffic infirm in the future.

This study aims to identify the needs of the disabled around E-books in order to develop such E-books. This study surveys the disabled, including the visually disabled and the deaf, on the usage of publications by disability type, the area of improvement to enhance E-book accessibility and the E-book functions for the disabled. The study surveys 196 people with the following key findings. First, the disabled have a preference for paper books over E-books. Second, the disabled read for practical tips in daily lives, cultural development and self development in such particular order. Third, the disabled have a negative view on function and variety of E-books, and want E-books to be customizable software-based rather than a simple platform-based.

대학도서관이 수행해야 할 보다 적극적이고 활동적인 서비스 형태로 이용자 학술지원을 위한 지식관리시스템의 모형, 즉 T 대학의 특수교육분야 중에서 장애인의 전환교육에 관련한 지식관리시스템 모형을 설계하였다. 이러한 지식관리시스템은 기존의 도서관 서비스의 확장된 영역으로 T 대학의 특성화를 달성할 수 있는 전문화된 서비스를 제공할 수 있고 전환교육에 대한 형식적 지식과 함께 조직구성원의 암묵적 지식을 축적함으로써 최신성 있는 데이터베이스를 유지할 수 있다.

This study aims to serve as the basis for the librarian training curriculum model for the disability services. To achieve this, a theoretical study was carried out through literature and investigated and analyzed on the disability services of Public Libraries in Seoul and on the status of Library and Information Science curriculum for the disability services in Korea. The research results are summarized as follows: First, only one university and one graduate school in Korea offers a curriculum for training librarians for the disability services. Second, since 2010 a continuing education program for librarians in charge of the disability service has been offered every year by the National Library of Korea, Librarians who completed this course have been surveyed for their opinions and the results have been reflected in the following course. Third, currently among the disabled users in public library the users with mental retardation, emotional and behavioral disorders, and autism are more than the visually impaired users. Most of the disability service has been a lending for general materials. According to telephone interviews, librarians who actively carry out the disability service need to understand the disability and, more information about operations and planning of cultural program for the disabled users.

This study used data from the 6rd and 12th year of the Korean Welfare Panel to evaluate the effects of the Personal Assistance Service(PAS) system on the labor market of PAS users' participation. For the purpose of this study, 64 program groups using the Korean PAS and 344 control groups not using the Korean PAS were selected using Caliper matching among the propensity score matching. A chi-square test was used for the difference in characteristics between groups, and a simple difference-in-differences (DID) model and a double-difference multiple regression analysis of DID were performed to estimate the effect of thepolicy before and after the Korean PAS. As a result of the study, it was found that statistically, PAS had no significant effect on the labor market. This is due to the low number of system users, resulting in low post-hoc power, incomplete matching and limited availability of PAS Assistants for Disabled People. Therefore, In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Personal Assistance Service(PAS) system, specialized services and systems that meet the needs of the disabled and household members should be implemented.

Recently, as voluntary activity has become more widespread, there have been some voluntary activity movements in the provision of library services for people with disabilities. This study aimed to develop a model on voluntary activity in library services for disabled people in public libraries. Survey data collected through three data collection methods showed that volunteer activities in public library services for the disabled were very poor, and recommended the training of library staff and volunteers serving disabled people, the management of educational programs for librarians about the disabled and the dissemination of standardized manuals. From the results of the survey, a voluntary activity model, based on three factors, the aims of library services, the types of the disabilities, and volunteer services including specific sub areas of services, was developed. Finally, this voluntary activity model will contribute to the theory development of library services for the disabled

This study aimed to develop an operating manual on the voluntary activity to the library services with disabled people in the public libraries. Various domestic and overseas manuals on the voluntary activity to the library services with disabled people were analyzed. From the survey and expert interviews, five types of most frequently asked library services with disabled people, face-to-face reading, word input services, services to off-library users, mobility aids services and assistance of engineering devices were extraced. Five specific areas on the voluntary activity were chosen in terms of activity area, barrier type, specific activity field, activity purpose and checklist. Finally, contents of the operating manual was applied to the area of face-to-face reading.

This study focused on the emergency evacuation guidelines considering the behaviors of people with disabilities in Korea. For these purposes, this study reviewed the movement behaviors of people with disability and the treatment characteristics of emergency and hazards in United States. The results are as follows. First, it is necessary to suggest establishment requirements and building design guidelines considering the behaviors of inhabitants and the occupant load in social welfare facility for people with disabilities. Second, it is important to establish disaster preparedness and evacuation planning in emergency and hazards reflecting the movement behaviors of people with disabilities in national organizations and institutions on disability. Third, periodical emergency and fire drills are necessary for people with disabilities and should be managed considering the impaired prototypes, evacuation aids and service animals.

And the number of disabled passengers in airports is growing every year with economic growth and globalization in Korea as well. That is the reason why the effort to the convenient facilities for the disabled in airports is needed more. The real situation in airports which are the public buildings is that the effort to install the facilities for the disabled is only perfunctory to meet the legal standard and cannot answer to the expectation of the facilities for e disabled. In this investigation I would like to give the airport operators the guide line to expand the facilities and the disabled an opportunity to use airports more freely and conveniently through the presentation on the problems and solutions with the current situation of the facilities for the disabled and the satisfaction of users in all airports in Korea.
