Accuracy Enhancement for UWB Indoor Positioning Using Ray Tracing (광선 추적법에 의한 초광대역 실내 위치인식의 성능 개선 방법)

  • The Presence of a line-of-sight(LoS) blockage can degrade the UWB positioning accuracy for two reasons. Firstly, it makes estimation of the time of arrival(ToA) of the direct path signal difficult by complicating the multipath structure of the propagation channel. Secondly, the higher dielectric constant of the LoS blocking material than that of free space introduces excess propagation delay which will bias the range estimation. In this paper, methods based on ray tracing to reduce the ranging error resulting from the second reason are Posed. We take two different approaches; a statistical approach and a map-aided method. In the statistical approach, we establish a conditional distribution of the excess propagation delay caused by LoS blockages using a ray tracing technique. The lo6wer bound of the ranging performance based on this model is estimated. Ine ray tracing method is also used for the map-aided ToA positioning approach. UWB propagation measurement data taken in an office environment is used to examine the performance of this method.

Depth Generation using Bifocal Stereo Camera System for Autonomous Driving (자율주행을 위한 이중초점 스테레오 카메라 시스템을 이용한 깊이 영상 생성 방법)

  • In this paper, we present a bifocal stereo camera system combining two cameras with different focal length cameras to generate stereoscopic image and their corresponding depth map. In order to obtain the depth data using the bifocal stereo camera system, we perform camera calibration to extract internal and external camera parameters for each camera. We calculate a common image plane and perform a image rectification for generating the depth map using camera parameters of bifocal stereo camera. Finally we use a SGM(Semi-global matching) algorithm to generate the depth map in this paper. The proposed bifocal stereo camera system can performs not only their own functions but also generates distance information about vehicles, pedestrians, and obstacles in the current driving environment. This made it possible to design safer autonomous vehicles.

  • 본 논문에서는 쿼드콥터 드론의 충돌방지를 위한 효율적인 자동제어 방법을 제안한다. 이 제어방법은 RC 조종기에서 노브를 이용하여 사용자가 제어하는 신호를 쿼드콥터의 리시버단에서 수신한 뒤 출력되는 PWM 신호들 중에서 쓰로틀, 피치, 롤 제어정보를 필요시 변경하는 방법으로 충돌을 방지한다. 충돌을 예측하기 위해서 전후, 좌우, 상하 6방향에 레이저 거리측정센서를 장착하고 주기적으로 거리를 측정한다. 그리고 측정 거리를 이용하여 장애물 유무를 판정하고 충돌이 예상되면 수신된 PWM 신호를 변경하여 쿼드콥터의 비행제어부로 전달함으로써 충돌을 방지하도록 한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 충돌방지 방법을 쿼드콥터에 적용하여 실험을 통해 검증한 결과, 조종자 부주의 혹은 조종 미숙으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 충돌을 방지할 수 있어 안전성이 향상됨을 보였다.

Development of Empirical Model for the Air Pollutant Dispersion in Urban Street Canyons Using Wind Tunnel Test (풍동실험을 이용한 도시거리협곡에서의 대기오염확산모델의 개발)

  • Modeling techniques for air quality are useful tools in air quality management. Especially, the air quality in urban area is significantly influenced by local surroundings such as buildings and traffic. When considering the air quality in a street canyon, which is usually filmed by a series of consecutive buildings and a street, currently available air dispersion model have a number of limitations to predict the air quality properly. In this study, it is aimed to propose an empirical model for the air quality in urban street canyons. A series of wind tunnel tests, followed by statistical analysis, were conducted. In conclusion, it is found that a wide street canyon and a perpendicular external wind to the street canyon are beneficial to achieve an enhanced air quality in street canyon environment. The model prediction using the proposed model also shows reliable correlations to the wind tunnel test results.

Spatial and Directional Sensation Prosthesis for the Blind (시각장애인을 위한 공간 및 방향감각 보조시스템)

  • In this study for the prosthesis of the spatial and directional sensation for the blind, an ultrasonic scale system and an electronic compass system were developed. The ultrasonic scale utilizes 40 ㎑ sound for the detection of distance to the barrier and the spatial information is transferred to the blind by various sound interval, which is proportional to the distance. The electronic compass utilizes a magnetoresistor bridge for the detection of the magnetic field strength of earth in horizontal plane. The information for the direction of the earth's north is transferred by tactile stimuli by a vibrating motor band around upper head. Detection distance of the ultrasonic scale is ranged from 0.065 to 3.26 meters, and the detection angle resolution of the electronic compass is about 22.5 degrees. The integrated system of the ultrasonic scale and the electronic compass was developed. Distance information is converted to the location of the tactile stimulation along the clockwise direction by a vibrating motor according to the distance installed around upper head of the blind. The intent of this article is to provide an practical prosthetic tool of spatial and directional sensation for the blind. Daily practice of this system will improve the usefulness of this system.

  • In this paper, we have designed a microwave level meter based on the FM-CW radar theory using a YIG-tuned oscillator (YTO). YTO has an excellent frequency linearity, so a linearizer circuit is not necessary for the level meter. It is shown that interference signals reflected from nearby obstacles can be removed by using a digital band-pass filter. An FIR band-pass filter is designed using the Kaiser window. The distance measurement has been performed in the outdoor test field. The measurement data have been obtained for the range of 1~40m with 1m step, and the results show that the standard deviation of the measured data is 2.33 cm. The level meter manufactured in this study can be applied usefully in the industrial facilities which are not accessible easily, for example, to measure the level of molten metal in the iron and steel company.

  • In this paper, Ka-band transceiver for road watch radar system is designed and fabricated. The transceiver for road watch radar system is composed of waveform generator, frequency generator. IF transceiver and RF up/down converter. The transceiver especially has 3 different waveform mode for target detection range. The transceiver had over 150 MHz bandwidth in Ka-band and 22 dBm output power. The receiver gain and noise figure was 30 dB and 4 dB respectively. The receive dynamic range was 65.28dB and amplitude imbalance and phase imbalance of I/Q channel was 0.3 dB and 1.8 degree respectively. The transceiver meets the required electrical performances through the individual tests.

  • This study mostly concentrates on the ease of access to the hospital for the physically handicapped and investigated the condition of facilities for disabled of 59 hospitals in Seoul. For investigation, this research developed tool based on Korean disability law. An improvement plan which will deal with the safety and accessibility for the physically handicapped and for patients are as follows. 1) Safe passage should be designed continuously from entrance to the parking lot. 2) Obstacles on the safe passage should be removed and widen the pathways.

  • GA(Genetic Algorithm)는 NP-Complete 도메인이나 NP-Hard 도메인 내의 문제들에 대해서 최적의 해를 찾기 위해서 많이 사용되어 지는 진화 컴퓨팅 방법 중 하나이다. 모바일 로봇 기술 중 경로계획은 NP-Complete 도메인 영역의 문제 중 하나로 이를 해결하기 위해서 Dijkstra 등의 그래프 이론을 이용한 연구가 많이 연구되었고 최근에는 GA등 진화 컴퓨팅 기법을 이용하여 최적의 경로를 찾는 연구가 많이 수행되고 있다. 그러나 모바일 로봇이 처리해야 될 공간 정보 크기가 증가함에 따라 기존 GA의 개체의 크기가 증가되어 게산 복잡도가 높아져 시간 지연등의 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 이는 모바일 로봇의 잠재적 오류로 발생될 수 있다. 공간 정보에는 동적이 장애물들이 예측 불허하게 나타 날 수 있는데 이것은 전역 경로 계획을 수립할 때 또한 반영되어야 된다. 본 논문에서는 k-means 클러스터링 기법을 이용하여 장애물 밀집도 및 거리 정보를 기반으로 공간정보를 k개의 군집 공간으로 재분류하여 이를 기반으로 N*M개의 그리드 개체 집단을 생성하여 최적 경로계획을 수립하는 GA를 제시한다.

Front and Rear Vehicle Monitoring System using Ultrasonic Sensors (초음파 센서를 이용한 차량 전·후방 감시 시스템)

  • The researches on driver assistance systems that can prevent an accident have been actively performed due to social issues of traffic accidents with development of vehicle industry in recent. It is required for researchers to develope systems which assist driver's perception and judgment when considering that over 70% of traffic accidents occur by drivers' carelessness and 75% of the total accidents occur at the speed of less 29km per hour. In this paper, we implemented a front and rear vehicle monitoring system that monitors distance from a vehicle to obstacles in real-time at the low-speed or back-ward driving. The proposed system consists of ultrasonic sensors of high angle and wide angle of beam spread, ATmega128, and DSP processor.
