  • 우리나라는 오랫동안 인문사회적인 가치가 절대적이고 과학기술적인 가치가 천시되는 문화를 형성하였으므로 비합리적인 전통문화를 개혁하려면 고유문화를 경시하는 것으로 오해를 받곤 하였다. 우리사회의 이런 비합리성과 비능률성을 없애려면 '전국민의 과학화 운동'이 가장 효과적이라고 생각하였다.

  • (재)전기통신단말기기심사협회(JATE)는 전기통신사업법에 기초하여, 우정성 장관으로부터 지정받고 우정성법령에 정해 놓은 기술기준(단말설비등의 규칙) 및 제1종 전기통신사업자가 우정성 장관의 인가를 받아 정한 접속 기술적 조건과의 적합성 심사를 하여, 적합인정을 일원화하고 있다. 1994년도 상반기의 인정상황 개요를 소개한다.

  • 새 정부와 함께 과학기술부로 승격된 후 첫 과학기술행정의 총책이 된 강창희 장관은 "과학기술자들이 자부심을 갖고 연구개발에 몰두하고 청소년들이 과학의 꿈나무로 자랄 수 있는 과학기술 존중의 풍토를 조성하는데 최대의 역점을 두겠다"고 말했다. 강장관은 본지와의 인터뷰에서 "국가과학기술위원회를 연내에 설치 .운영할 것이며 향후 5년간 5백억 규모의 과학문화 기금을 조성하겠다"고 말했다.

  • 뜨거운 뙤약볕이 내리쬐는 7월의 어느 날, 더위를 식혀줄 달콤한 단비가 내렸던 날이었다. 농장탐방을 하기는 아쉬운 날씨라고 생각했지만, 순창터미널 앞에선 정해인 대표 내외가 반갑게 맞이해주었다. 전라북도 순창에서 10개동 2만3천여수 규모의 농장을 운영하고 있는 해인농장의 정해인 대표. 정성스레 길러낸 오리는 많은 사람들에게 인정받아 지난해 농업인의 날 장관표차을 받기도 했다. 더욱더 궁금해진 그의 사육노하우와 생각들을 들으러 해인농장을 찾았다.

Bone Marrow Cell Proliferation Activity through Intestinal Immune System by the Components of Atractylodes lancea DC. (창출 성분의 장관면역 자극을 통한 골수세포 증식활성)

  • Of hot-water extracts prepared from 10 herbal components of Sip-Jeon-Dae-Bo-Tang, Atractylodes lancea DC. (ALR) and Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer (PG) showed the most potent bone marrow cell proliferation activity through intestinal immune system whereas other extracts did not have the activity except for Astragalus membranacues Bunge (ASR) and Angelica acutiloba Kitagawa (AR) having low activity. Especially, ALR had the potent activity irrespective of classes of ALR, a place of production and the condition of breeding. In addition, we found that hot-water extract from Atractylodes lancea DC rhizomes (ALR-0) contributed mainly to Peyer's patch cells mediated-hematopoietic response of Sip-Jeon-Dae-Bo-Tang. ALR-0 was further fractionated into MeOH-soluble fraction (ALR-1), MeOH-insoluble and EtOH-soluble fraction (ALR-2), and the crude polysaccharide fraction (ALR-3). Among these fractions, only ALR-3 showed potent stimulating activity for proliferation of bone marrow cells mediated by Peyer's patch cells, dose-dependently. In treatments of ALR-3 with $NaIO_4,\;NaClO_2$ and pronase, all significantly reduced the intestinal immune system modulating activity of ALR-3, and the activity of ALR-3 was much affected by $NaIO_4$ oxidation particularly. These results reveal that macromolecules, such as polysaccharide, rather than low-molecular-weight substances, are the potent intestinal immune system modulating compound of ALR.

  • Anethole, eugenol, isoeugenol, safrole and isosafrole are ingredients of refined oils which are obtained from some plants and their chemical structures are very similar. They are mainly used as a flavoring agent, food additive, dental analgesics and for many drugs. But, there is no report about their effect on the intestinal motility. The result of examining the effect, potency and mode of action of anethole, eugenol, isoeugenol, safrole and isosafrole on motility of isolated rabbit jejunum segment, are as follows : 1. Single administration of anethole, eugenol, isoeugenol, safrole and isosafrole showed the inhibition of motility of isolated rabbit jejunum segment, degree of which was various. The $pD_2$ values of isoeugenol, isosafrole, eugenol, safrole and anethole in isolated rabbit jejunum segment were 4.22, 4.18, 4.17, 4.15 and 3.82 (in the descending order of potency). 2. The contracted rabbit jejunum segment : by carbachol, pilocarpine, barium chloride and histarmine were relaxed by five essential oil. 3. The relaxed rabbit jejunum segment by anethole was not recovered by carbachol, pilocarpine, barium chloride and histamine. The relaxed rabbit jejunum segment by eugenol, isoeugenol, safrole and isosafrole were recovered by carbachol, pilocarpine and barium chloride but partially recovered by histamine. 4. Judging from the facts above, it is thought that five essential oil are inhibit the motility of isolated rabbit jejunum segment by neurotropic and musculotropic action.

Effect of Lactose on Calcium Absorption Enhanced by Casein Phosphopeptides in the Rat Small Intestine (Casein Phosphopeptides 의 장관내(腸管內) 칼슘 흡수촉진(吸收促進)에 미치는 유당(乳糖)의 영향(影響))

  • The effects of lactose on the formation of casein phosphopeptide (CPP), the increment of soluble calcium and the enhancement of calcium absorption by dietary casein in the intestinal tract were investigated. Rats were fed a lactose-free diet, 10% lactose diet and 30% lactose diet containing powdered milk. In rats receiving a lactose-free powdered milk diet, CPP formation was confirmed by gel filtration of the intestinal content on Sephadex G -25 and the amount of soluble calcium was increased in the small intestine and calcium absorption, measured by the ligated ideal loops in situ was enhanced. However, In rats receiving a powdered milk diet containing 10% lactose or 30% lactose, the similar effects were not seen. These observations indicate that CPP-stimulated effects on soluble calcium and calcium absorption in the small intestine are not dependent upon lactose.

The Effect of Rebamipide on the Regulation of Intestinal Contractility (Carbachol에 의한 위장관 수축에 대한 rebamipide의 융합성 조절 효과)

  • The aim of the study was to observe the influence and related mechanism of rebamipide on the intestinal contraction. Intestinal contraction includes the activation of thick or thin filament regulation. However, there are few reports addressing the question whether this regulation is involved in rebamipide-induced regulation. We hypothesized that rebamipide plays a role in intestinal contraction evoked by carbachol in rat intestine. Interestingly, rebamipide alone didn't inhibit and rather slightly increased the contraction in the denuded muscle. Therefore, rebamipide alone and together with indomethacin increases the ileal contraction suggesting that additional pathways might be involved in the regulation of ileal contractility. In conclusion, rebamipide has some effect on the regulation of contractility and anti-ulcer by NSAIDs.
