In general, the water stage-discharge relationship curve is established based on the assumptions of linearity and homoscedasticity. However, the relationship between the water stage and discharge is affected from geomorphological factors, which violates the basic assumptions of the water stage-discharge relationship curve. In order to reduce the error due to the violations, the curve is divided into several sections based on the manager's judgement considering change of cross-sectional shape. In this research, the objective-splitting criteria of the curve is proposed based on the measured data without the subjective decision. First, it is assumed that the coefficient of variation follows the normal distribution. Then, if the newly calculated coefficient of variation is outside of the 95% confidential interval, the curve is divided. Namely, the groups is divided by the characteristics of the coefficient of variation and the reasonable criteria is provided for establishing a multi-segmented rating curve. To validate the proposed method, it was applied to the data generated by three artificial power functions. In addition, to confirm the applicability of the proposed method, it is applied to the water stage and discharge data of the Muju water stage gauging station and Sangegyo water stage gauging station. As a result, it is found that the automatically divided rating curve improves the accuracy and extrapolation accuracy of the rating curve. Finally, through the residual analysis using Shapiro-Wilk normality test, it is confirmed that the residual of water stage-discharge relationship curve tends to follow the normal distribution.
This study was conducted to estimate the correlation structure between body size traits, carcass traits, and primal cuts in Hanwoo steers. Hanwoo progeny test data (body weight and body measurements) were collected from 2008 to 2010 from a total of 882 steers at the Hanwoo Improvement Main Center (NACF). Carcass traits considered were cold carcass weight, eye muscle area, backfat thickness, and marbling scores evaluated at the time of carcass grading. Correlation analyses were performed with observed scales of the traits and with residuals considering fixed environmental effects in generalized linear models. The correlation coefficient estimated between loin weight and chest girth was high at 0.74. The shank negatively correlated with pelvic width (-0.23) and hipbone width (-0.27). In addition, rib weight and chest girth was highly correlated (0.80). The correlation between carcass weight and chest girth was 0.86 in observed scale. Residual correlation between these traits was estimated at 0.65. Correlation between carcass weight and loin was 0.87 in the observed scale. Residual correlation was estimated at 0.83. The correlation coefficient estimated between shank weight and brisket and flank weight was negative at -0.69. Chest girth had a high correlation between primal cuts weight and body measurements. Thus, we believe that these results will provide a greater understanding on the relationship of primal cuts and other phenotypes, thus enabling valid production models for Hanwoo steers.
It is common to check the validity of an assumed model with the heavy use of diagnostics tools when conducting data analysis with regression techniques; however, outliers and influential data points often distort the regression output in undesired manner. Jang and Anderson-Cook (2013) proposed a graphical method called a firework plot for exploratory analysis that could visualize the trace of the impact of possible outlying and/or influential data points on individual regression coefficients and the overall residual sum of squares(SSE) measure. They developed 3-D plot as well as pair-wise plot for the appropriate measures of interest. In this paper, the approach was extended further to tell the strength of their approach; in addition, a more meaningful interpretation was possible by adding a measure not mentioned in their paper. This approach was applied to the mixture experiment because we felt that a detailed analysis of statistical measure sensitivity is required in a small experiment.

Analyzed by using finite element method was 2-dimensional pollutant transtport phenomenon considering longitudinal and lateral direction in river. The Galerkin's finite element method based on linear interpolation is used and triangle is adopted as an element. In a number of model test attempts it has been demonstrated that the results calculated by the model are in good agreement with analytical solutions in a simplified channel where there is a known solution available. Actual application of the model is attempted along the 9km reach of the Han River considering the influx of the Tan Cheon and the Joongryang Cheon. The resultant 2-dimensional BOD concentrations profile in the reach is exhibiting more realistically the field situations than conventional 1-dimensional models are.
In this study, drought analysis of annual flows of Jindong, Hyunpoong, and Waekwan stations located at Nakdong River Basins was performed based on multivariate stochastic models. The stochastic models used were multivariate autoregressive model (MAR) and multivariate contemporaneous (MCAR) model. MCAR(1) and MAR(1) models were selected to be a appropriate models for these stations based on skewness test of normality, test of uncorrelated residuals, and correlograms of the residual series of each model. The statistics generated by MCAR(1) model and MAR(1) model resembled very closely those computed from historical series. The drought characteristics such as run len호, run sum, and run intensity were fairly well reproduced for the various lengths of generated annual flows based on the MCAR(1) and MAR(1) models. Thus, these drought characteristics may give the important informations in planning mid or long term water supplying systems.

This paper analyzed the characteristics of traffic accidents in all tunnels on nationwide freeways and selected some various independent variables related to accident occurrence in tunnels. The study aims to develop reliable accident forecasting models using the various dependent variables such as the number of accident (no.), no./km, and no./MVK. Finally, reliable multiple linear regression models were proposed in this paper. This study tested the validity verification of developed models through statistics such as $R^2$, F values, multicollinearity, residual analysis. The paper selected the accident forecasting models considering the characteristics of tunnel accidents and two models were finally proposed according to two groups of tunnel length. In the selected models, natural logarithm of ln(no./MVK) is used for the dependent variable and AADT, vertical slope, and tunnel hight are used for the independent variables. The reliability of two models was proved by the comparison analysis between field data and estimating data using RMSE and MAE. These models may be not only effective in evaluating tunnel safety under design and planning phases of tunnel but also useful to reduce traffic accidents in tunnels and to manage the traffic flow of tunnel.

An effective real time fault diagnosis approach for UAV engine is drawn from IMM filter and GLRT methods. For this purpose based on the linear diagnosis model derived from engine dynamic performance analysis the Kalman filter for residual estimation and each method are applied to the fault diagosis of the actuator for engine control sensors. From the process of the IMM filter application the effective FDI measure is obtained and the state responses due to actuator fault are estimated. Likewise from the GLRT method the fault magnitudes of actuator and sensors are estimated associated with some FDI functionings. The numerical simulations verify the effectiveness of the IMM filter for FDI and the GLRT in estimating the fault magnitudes of each fault mode.
This study aims to functionally classify lexical bundles appearing in academic papers on nuclear science and engineering written in English and then analyze the lexical bundles' characteristics compared to those appearing in general academic papers. To this end, the texts of nuclear science and engineering papers were collected and produced as a corpus(c. 1 mil. tokens). Then they were statistically compared through Chi-square tests and standardized residuals with the corpus of general academic papers(c. 750,000 tokens). The results revealed that, compared to general academic papers, the bundles in the stance lexical bundle category were mainly used among the functional lexical bundle in nuclear science and engineering. The use of the lexical bundles lacked much variety. The same type of lexical bundles was 're-used' and 'recycled'. Based on these research results, educational implications for English for Academic Purposes and the further direction of follow-up research were discussed and suggested.

In the case of earthenware cultural heritages that are found in the form of fragments, the major task is quick and precise restoration. The existing method, which follows the rule of trial and error, is not only greatly time consuming but also lacked precision. If this job could be done by three dimensional scanning, matching up pieces could be done with remarkable efficiency. In this study, the original earthenware was modeled through three-dimensional pattern scanning and photogrammetry, and each of the fragments were scanned and modeled. In order to obtain images from the photogrammetry, we calibrated and used a Canon EOS 1DS real size camera. We analyzed the relationship among the sections of the formed model, efficiently compounded them, and analyzed the errors through residual and color error map. Also, we built a web-based three-dimensional simulation environment centering around the users, for the virtual museum.
The purpose of this study was to estimate genetic parameters for productive traits in Duroc breed. In this study, 40,657 records for productive traits and the pedigree data of 47,974 families were collected from 41 farms registered at the Korean Animal Improvement Association (KAIA) from 2004 to 2011. The REMLf90 program was used to analyze a multiple traits animal model with fixed effects of sex, contemporary group, parity and age at the end of the test as covariate and random effects of animal and residual error. The heritabilities of days to 90 kg (D90KG), average daily gain (ADG), backfat thickness (BF) and eye muscle areas (EMA) were estimated to be 0.334, 0.340, 0.335, and 0.200, respectively. The genetic correlation coefficients were -0.992 between D90KG and ADG, -0.142 between ADG and BF, -0.361 between ADG and EMA, and -0.243 between BF and EMA. Conversely, positive genetic correlations for D90KG with BF and EMA were 0.13 and 0.36, respectively.
