Fretting-wear Characteristics of Steam Generator Helical Tubes (증기발생기 나선형 전열관의 프레팅 마모 특성)

  • This study investigates the safety assessment of the potential for fretting-wear damages caused by foreign object in operating nuclear power plants. To get the natural frequency, corresponding mode shape and participation factor, modal analyses are performed for the helical type tubes with various conditions. The wear rate of helical type tube caused by foreign object is calculated using the Archard formula and the remaining life of the tube is predicted, and discussed in this study is the effect of the vibration of the tube on the remaining life of the tube. In addition, addressed is the effect of the external pressure on the vibration and fretting-wear characteristics of the tube.

Maximum Lifetime Geocast Considering Link Error Rates in Ad-Hoc Networks (Ad-hoc 네트워크에서 최대 네트워크 수명과 링크 에러율을 고려한 지오캐스트)

  • Geocasting is a form of communication that transmits messages to all nodes within a given geographical region(i.e., the geocasting region). Most of conventional onery aware protocols were based on shortest-hop routing that is, they minimized the cost in terms of the distance and total transmission energy not considering both the residual energy at each node and the link error ratio when selecting the routes for communication. In this paper we propose a MLRG(Maximum Lifetime Reliable Geocast) protocol for energy-efficient and reliable geocasting in Ad-hoc networks. The proposed MLRG, a position-based and routing-based geocasting algorithm, maximizes the network lifetime using newly defined cost function and selecting the energy balanced routes on the basis of each node's residual energy, and provides a reliable communication considering the link error ratio.

  • Lithium-ion batteries are the heart of energy-storing devices and electric vehicles. Owing to their superior qualities, such as high capacity and energy efficiency, they have become quite popular, resulting in an increased demand for failure/damage prevention and useable life maximization. To prevent failure in Lithium-ion batteries, improve their reliability, and ensure productivity, prognosticative measures such as condition monitoring through sensors, condition assessment for failure detection, and remaining useful life prediction through data-driven prognostics and health management approaches have become important topics for research. In this study, the residual useful life of Lithium-ion batteries was predicted using two efficient artificial recurrent neural networks-ong short-term memory (LSTM) and gated recurrent unit (GRU). The proposed approaches were compared for prognostics accuracy and cost-efficiency. It was determined that LSTM showed slightly higher accuracy, whereas GRUs have a computational advantage.

  • The reduction of operation and maintenance (O&M) costs is a critical factor in determining the competitiveness of wind energy. Predictive maintenance based on the estimation of remaining useful life (RUL) is a key technology to reduce logistic costs and increase the availability of wind turbines. Although a mechanical component usually has sudden changes during operation, most RUL estimation methods use the trend of a state index over the whole operation period. Therefore, overestimation of RUL causes confusion in O&M plans and reduces the effect of predictive maintenance. In this paper, two RUL estimation methods (load based and data driven) are proposed for the bearings of a wind turbine with the results of trend classification, which differentiates constant and increasing states of the state index. The proposed estimation method is applied to a bearing degradation test, which shows a conservative estimation of RUL.

  • 일반적인 센서 네트워크는 제한된 에너지와 밀집한 노드 특성을 보인다. 센서 네트워크에서 가장 중요한 이슈 중의 하나는 제한된 에너지의 효율을 높여 네트워크의 수명을 오래 유지하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 클러스터 기반의 센서 네트워크를 구성 함으로서 네트워크 수명을 연장 하는 방법들이 제시 되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 방법은 맵 상태를 고려하지 않으므로 전체적인 네트워크 수명 측면에서는 비효율적이다. 본 논문에서는 에너지 효율적인 클러스터 기반의 센서 네트워크를 구성하기 위하여, 센서 노드의 잔여 에너지와 이웃 노드의 수를 고려한 클러스터 헤더 선정 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법으로 클러스터 헤더를 선정함으로써 효과적인 데이터 수집과 전송을 할 수 있다.

Fatigue Life and Cumulative Damage Analysis in the Pavement Structure by Mechano-Lattice Theory (기계적 격자이론에 의한 도로포장 구조물의 피로수명과 누적손실분석)

  • 부적정한 도로포장 구조물의 설정 및 유지보수의 적정관리 미흡으로 표면의 피해와 소성변형이 장기간 발생된다. 이로 인한 가요성 통제 구조물의 파괴 원인은 일반적으로 포 장재료의 동질성, 선형탄성 상태의 가정 하에서 분석되었다. 그러나 아스팔트 재료의 특성은 엄밀히 분석해서 완전한 선형탄성이라고는 볼 수 없음은 잘 알려져 있다. 따라서 근본적으 로 포장체의 수명과 파양 예측에 오류 발생가능성이 높다 하겠다. 금번 연구는 이와 같은 종전의 경험적인 선형탄성 방법이 아닌 탄성일소성 상태하의 격자(mechano-lattice) 이론이란 새로운 기법을 도입하였다. 특히 마이너(Miner's Law) 이론의 누적손실과 확률을 적용하여 포장체의 피노수명과 손실을 예측할 수 있다. 금번 이론은 실제로 호주 빅토리아주의 멜보른(Melbourne)시 일부 지역구간을 모형으 로 선정되었다. 분석결과 가장 최적화된 도로포장 각층의 두께와 재료 선정을 하기 위하여 일정기간의 교통량, 상대적 손실지수와 잔여응력 및 표면 변위, 대기온도 그리고 습도의 영 향을 종합적으로 고려하여야 한다.

  • Cooperative transmission is an effective technique to combat multi-path fading and reduce transmitted power. Relay selection and power allocation are important technical issues to determine the performance of cooperative transmission. In this paper, we proposed a new multi-relay selection and power allocation algorithm to increase network lifetime. The proposed relay selection scheme minimizes the transmitted power and increase the network lifetime by considering residual power as well as channel conditions. Simulation results show that proposed algorithm obtains much longer network lifetime than the conventional algorithm.
