용접구조용 고강도강재의 피로균열성장특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Fatigue Crack Growth Characteristics of Welded High-Strength Steels)

  • 본 연구에서는 향후 사용빈도가 증가할 것으로 예상되는 SM570, POSTEN60 및 POSTEN80 강재를 대상으로 용접선 방향이 피로균열성장속도에 미치는 영향, 용접방법 및 강도등급에 따른 피로균열성장특성, 그리고 각 재질별(모재부, 열영향부, 용접금속부) 피로균열 성장특성을 정량적으로 평가하기 위해서 CT시험편을 제작해서 일련의 피로시험을 실시하였다. 피로시험결과 노치가 용접선과 평행한 시험체의 경우 노치선단에 존재하는 압축잔류응력의 영향으로 노치가 용접선과 직각인 시험체의 경우보다 피로균열성장속도의 지연현상이 현저해지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 용접 방법에 따른 피로균열성장특성은 강재의 강도등급에 관계없이 FCAW가 SAW에 비해서 피로균열성장속도의 분산이 적게 나타나고 있으며, 또한 높은 응력확대계수범위 영역에서 피로균열성장속도의 수렴현상이 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 한편 본 피로시험결과와 기존의 연구결과를 비교하면 피로균열성장영역에서의 피로균열성장속도는 유사한 경향을 나타내고 있으므로 본 연구에서 대상으로 한 강재는 피로안전성을 충분히 확보하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

자동차 현가장치재의 부식피로수명에 따른 압축잔류응력의 영향 (The Effect of Compressive Residual Stress according to Corrosion Fatigue Life of Automobile Suspension Material)

  • A study of new materials that are light-weight, high in strength has become vital to the machinery of auto industries. But then, there are a lot of problems with developing such materials that require expensive tools, and a great deal of time and effort. Therefore, the improvement of fatigue strength and fatigue life are mainly focused on by adopting residual stress. And Influence of corrosive condition for corrosion fatigue crack was investigated, after immersing in 3.5%NaCl, $10%HNO_3$+3.5%HF, $6%FeCl_3$. The immersion period was performed for 365days. The compressive residual stress was imposed on the surface according to each shot velocity based on shot peening, which is the method of improving fatigue life and strength. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the shot peened material than in the un peened material in corrosion conditions. The threshold stress intensity factor range was decreased in corrosion environments over ambient. Compressive residual stress of surface on the Shot-peen processed operate resistance force of fatigue crack propagation. The fatigue crack growth rate of the Shot-peened material was lower than that of the un peened material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the shot peened material was higher than that of the un peened material. That is concluded from effect of da/dN.

가스배관재의 X-선 회절분석과 피로균열거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the X-ray Diffraction Analysis and the Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior for the Gas Piping Material)

  • This study investigates a relationship between fracture mechanics parameters (Stress Intensity Factor Range: ΔK, Maximum Stress Intensity Factor; Kmax) and X-ray parameters (residual stress:$\sigma$r half-value breadth: B) for SG365 steel at elevated temperature up to 30$0^{\circ}C$. The fatigue crack propagation test were carried out and X-ray diffraction technique according to the direction of crack length was applied to fatigue fractured surface. The residual stress on the fracture surface was found to increase at low ΔK region, to reach a maximum value at a certain value of Kmax or ΔK and then to decrease. Residual stress was independent of stress ratio by arrangement of ΔK and half value breadth were independent of the arrangement of Kmax. The equation of $\sigma$r-ΔK was established by the experimental data. therefore, fracture mechanics parameters could be estimated by the measurement of X-ray parameters.

  • In this study, a series of fatigue tests are carried out in order to estimate quantitatively the characteristics of fatigue crack growth rate for high strength steels of SM570, POSTEN60, and POSTEN80 steel, that is, the influence on fatigue crack growth rate according to the welding line, the characteristics of fatigue crack growth according to the welding method and the kinds of steel, and the characteristics of fatigue crack growth for base metal, heat affected zone and weld metal. From the test results, in case that the notch if parallel to welding line, it knows that the retardations of fatigue crack growth rate in crack tip at early stage increase remarkably than in case that the notch is perpendicular to welding line due to compressive residual stress. And the characteristics of fatigue crack growth rate according to welding method are that the dispersion of fatigue crack growth rate in case of FCAW method is smaller than that of SAW method. Also, it knows that the fatigue crack growth rate converges in high stress intensity factor range.

X-ray 회절에 의한 사고파면의 정량적 해석에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Quantitative Analysis of Accident Fracture Surface by X-ray Diffraction)

  • X-ray diffraction observation of fracture surfaces yields useful information to analyze the causes of failure accidents of engineering structures. This experimental technique, named X-ray fractography, has been developed especially in metal and mechanical engineering fields. The distributions of the residual stress and the half value breadth of diffraction profiles beneath the fatigue fracture surface were measured with SNCM 439, HT100 and Ti-6Al-4V alloy. The size of the maximum plastic zone was successfully determined on the basis of the measured distributions. This size was correlated to maximum stress intensity factor. The distributions of the half value breadth of diffraction profiles on the fatigue fracture surfaces were measured with SNCM 439. HT100. The equations of x-ray parameter distribution were possible to estimated fracture parameters of fatigue fracture surfaces.

홀확장과 링압인 동시적용에 의한 피로균열지연 (Fatigue Crack Retardation by Concurrent Cold-Expansion and Ring-indentation)

  • A more efficient method for obtaining the fatigue life enhancement of a structure member with fastener holes is described. It is based on the combined process of cold-expansion and ring-indentation. Residual stresses were induced onto premachined holes using ring-indentation process near the fastener hole combined with cold-expansion. And residual stresses at the vicinity of a hole were evaluated using a fracture mechanics approach. The compressive residual stresses were larger using the combined process than is in the case of simple cold-expansion. Fatigue testing of aluminum specimens showed that the fatigue crack growth retardation emanating from a circular hole was greater for the combined process than for a simple cold-expansion alone.

현가장치재의 피로수명향상 공법개발에 관한 연구 (A Study of Development Methods of Fatigue Life Improvement for the Suspension Material)

  • The development of new materials with light weight and high strength has become vital to the machinery, aircraft and auto industries. However, there are a lot of problems with developing such materials that require expensive tools, and a great deal of time and effort. Therefore, the improvement of fatigue strength and fatigue life are mainly focused on adopting residual stress(in this thesis). The compressive residual stress was imposed on the surface according to each shot velocity(57, 70, 83, 96 m/sec) based on Shot-peening, which is the method of improving fatigue life and strength. By using the methods mentioned above, the following conclusions have been drawn. 1. The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) of the Shot-peened material was lower than that of the Un-peened material. And in stage I, ΔKth, the threshold stress intensity factor, of the shot-peen processed material is high in critical parts unlike the Un-peened material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the Shot-peened material was higher than that of the Un-peened material. That is concluded from effect of da/dN. 2. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the Shot-peened material than in the Un-peened material. 블완전용입 맞대기 용접재의 용입깊이에 따른 피로강도특성 및 잔류수명의 산출 (Investigation of Fatigue Strength and Prediction of Remaining Life in the Butt Welds Containing Penetration Defects)

  • 본 연구에서는 기존의 강교에서 흔하게 발견되고 있는 맞대기 용접부의 용입불량으로 인한 부재의 피로강도 저하도를 정량적으로 평가하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 강교량의 재료로 널리 사용되고 있는 SWS490강으로 제작된 완전용입 및 용입깊이가 서로 다른 불완전용입 맞대기 용접시험편을 대상으로 일정진폭하중시험을 수행하여 S-N선도를 산출하고 이를 비교 검토하였으며, 파괴역학적 방법을 이용하여 불완전용입 용접재의 피로수명을 계산하였다. 본 연구의 결과로서, 완전용입 용접재의 경우 AASHTO의 피로강도등급선도와의 비교에서 피로한도값은 A등급보다 높은 값을 보였고, S-N선도의 기울기는 5.57로 매우 높게 나타났다. 불완전용입 용접재의 경우 불완전용입깊이 D가 증가함에 따라 피로강도가 감소하는데, D=14.7mm인 경우 AASHTO의 E'등급보다 낮게 나타난다. 불완전용입 용접재의 파손거동에서 피로균열은 내부 용접루트 선단부에서 a/c가 매우 작은 반타원형 표면균열의 형태로 발생하고, 시험체의 두께방향으로 진전하여 최종파손을 유발한다. 파괴역학적 방법을 이용한 불완전용입 용접재의 피로수명을 평가하기 위하여 3차원 반타원형 균열형상에 대한 응력확대계수 K를 유한요소해석으로 구하였다. 여기서 얻어진 K값과 실험으로 얻어진 Paris식의 상수를 이용하여 불완전용입 용접재의 피로수명을 계산하여 비교하였다. 그리고 실제 불완전용입 맞대기용접부의 파손으로 붕괴사고가 발생한 성수대교의 수직재에 본 연구결과를 적용하여 피로수명을 계산해 보았다.

  • 선체 구조에서 피로 손상을 받기 쉬운 용접 부위인 T형 이음부(T-joint) 및 호퍼 너클 이음부(hopper knuckle joint) 모델의 피로실험 및 선형탄성 파괴역학을 이용한 피로균열 진전해석을 수행하였다. 집중 응력(hot spot stress)을 적용하여 정의된 균열 개시수명(균열 깊이 1mm)을 기준으로 하는 통합된 S-N선도를 작성하였으며, 잔류응력을 고려한 피로균열 진전해석을 통하여 피로균열 진전수명을 정확히 예측할 수 있었다. 또한, 임의의 형상을 가지는 용접 이음부(weld joint)의 피로균열 진전수명에 대한 정량화의 가능성을 확인하였다.
