Characterization of Working Electrode Using by Hydrothermal and Electrophoretic Deposition for Dye Sensitized Solar Cells

  • 본 연구에 염료감응형 태양전지(Dye Sensitized Solar Cells; DSSCs)의 광전변환효율을 높이기 위해 작업전극에 새로운 구조의 광투과층 및 산란층을 도입하였다. DSSCs 작업전극의 빛을 투과시키는 투과층에 크기가 10 nm 이하의 nanoparticle $TiO_2$를 적용하고, 투과된 빛이 산란되어 많은 전자가 여기 될 수 있도록 기존의 큰 입자 사이즈였던 산란층을 이용하는 대신 $TiO_2$ nanorod 및 nanotube 형태의 구조를 도입하여 기존의 작업전극과 비교하였다. 산란층에서 방향성을 가지는 rutile 상의 $TiO_2$는 저온에서 안정적인 anatase 상의 $TiO_2$보다 화학적으로 안정하며, 높은 산란율을 가지고, 광에 의해 여기된 전자를 직접적으로 집전전극에 전달해 줌으로서 소자의 효율을 증가시킨다고 보고되고 있다. Rutile 상의 $TiO_2$ 층 제작 시 수열합성법을 이용하면 nanorod 모양의 $TiO_2$층을 형성할 수 있고, 이와 같은 방법으로 성장시킨 산란층에 전기영동법의 식각 효과를 사용하면 nanotube 모양의 $TiO_2$층을 성장시킬 수 있어 산란효과의 극대화 및 전극의 표면적을 넓히는 장점이 있다. 각각의 방법을 이용하여 만든 구조 위에 입자 크기 10 nm의 $TiO_2$를 Dr blade 방법으로 도포하여 double layer (산란층+흡수층)로 구성된 작업 전극을 이용한 DSSCs를 제작한 후 I-V curve와 EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy)를 측정하여 효율 및 전기화학적 특성을 분석하였다.

  • 염료감응형 태양전지(Dye Sensitized Solar Cells; DSSC)에서 투명전극(Transparent Conducting Oxide; TCO)으로 사용되는 ITO, FTO의 경우 자원의 희소성과 고온에 취약하며 취성과 같은 단점 등이 있다. Graphene은 단원자층의 얇은 물질로써 우수한 전도도와 투과도, 고강도와 고탄성의 특성들을 가진다. 이러한 특성들을 가지는 Graphene을 기존의 투명전극을 대체하여 DSSC의 작업전극에 적용 하였다. 본 실험에서 사용된 그래핀 시트는 근적외선을 source로 하는 RTA (Rapid Thermal Annealing)장비에 탄화수소 기반의 gas를 주입하여 Ni위에 성장시켰으며, 습식방법인 용액Etching 방식을 사용하여 유리판 위에 전사시켰다. 전사된 Graphene 투명전극의 전기적 특성과 광학적 특성을 평가하기 위해 4 point probe, FT-IR, 마이크로 Raman분광법, 광학현미경 및 투과도를 측정하여 평가 하였다. 전사된 Graphene 투명전극을 염료감응형 태양전지 작업전극에 적용하여, DSSC소자를 제작하고, Solar Simulator로 광전변환효율 및 EIS(Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy)를 측정하여 기존의 FTO로 만든 DSSC와 비교하였다.

DSSC Efficiency Characteristics by Annealing Temperature and Thickness of Electrodes (전극의 두께와 소성 온도에 따른 DSSC의 효율 특성)

  • The photovoltaic performance of DSSCs fabricated with different electrode thickness and different annealing temperature with the P25 $TiO_2$ and the Dyesol $TiO_2$ was measured. Thickness change of $TiO_2$ electrodes was measured using cross-sectional FE-SEM before and after annealing. Photovoltaic efficiencies of DSSCs were also measured by changing annealing temperature of platinum (Pt) paste on the counter electrode. Photovoltaic performances of DSSCs made with one layer of P25 (${\sim}20.4\;{\mu}m$) and one layer of Dyesol $TiO_2$ (${\sim}9.1\;{\mu}m$) annealed at $500^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. showed highest efficiencies of 3.8% and 5.8%, respectively.

  • Recently, FET type dissolved oxygen sensor was proposed to overcome the disadvantages of the amperometric Clark-type sensor. The inherent problem of the proposed sensor, however, is the flow dependence of the sensor performances since the proposed sensor detects the pH change in close proximity to the working electrode. In this study, we decided the direction which minimize the flow effect in FIA(flow injection analysis) system. And a hydrodynamic buffer layer which can reduce the flow dependence were proposed. The suggested buffer-layers were formed onto sensing area and working electrode with mixed polymer matrix of TEOS(tetraethylorthosilicate) and DEDMS(diethoxydimethylsilane).

  • The nano or micro sized structures of conducting polymer had been prepared by synthesizing the desired polymer within the pores of template of nano or micro porous membrane filter. In this study, we had tried to fabricate conducting polymer microstructures on an electrode by using electrochemical deposition adopting template synthesis. Our attention was focused on two different things, attaching template on the electrode and fabricating microstructures only at limited areas of the electrode. A conducting polymer, PEDiTT (poly 3,4-ethylenedithi-athiophene) solution was blended with PVA(polyvinyl alcohol) solution and used as an conducting adhesive. After attaching template membrane, the electrode were immersed in 0.5M pyrrole in 0.1M KCI solution, and electrochemical polymerization was performed. The growth process of the microstructures studied by SEM. The electrochemical fabrication of conducting polymer was performed by using two-electrode system. A large working electrode and a micro scale disc electrode were used for the confined area synthesis. Polymerization potential was 4V in an electrolytic solution made of KCI in deionized water. The optimum polymerization conditions were, i.e. (4V/100sec) for $250{\mu}m$ electrode and (6V/30 sec) for $10{\mu}m$ electrode.

용해 납 흐름 배터리용 여러 카본 전극의 에너지 효율 특성 비교

  • 레독스 흐름 배터리 (Redox Flow Battery)는 외부의 탱크 등에 저장해 둔 활성물질(이온 가수가 변화는 금속) 의 용액을 펌프로 전해셀에 공급하여 충전 방전하는 배터리로 신재생 에너지인 풍력과 태양광 발전, 야간의 잉여 전력 저장 등 대용량 전력 저장 장치로 관심이 높아지고 있다. 대표적인 레독스 흐름 배터리로 알려진 바나듐 레독스 흐름 배터리는 이온 교환막 사용으로 인하여 전기전도도, 기계적 강도, 투과도 및 전해질 내의 화학적 안정성 등 여러 가지 문제점과 함께 비용 문제점을 야기한다. 하지만 새로운 용해 납 레독스 흐름 배터리는 이온 교환막을 사용하지 않아 바나듐 레독스 흐름 배터리의 문제점 및 시설비가 절약되는 장점이 있어 새로이 연구되지고 있다. 본 연구는 레독스 흐름 배터리에 주로 이용되는 카본 전극재료의 따라 형성되는 Pb, $PbO_2$ 박막의 미세 구조를 및 에너지 효율 특성을 분석하였다. 실험은 half-cell로 이루어졌으며 작업전극은 Carbon felt, Ordered Graphite, Disordered Graphite, Glassy Carbon 등을 여러 카본 재료를 사용하였고, 상대전극은 Pt, 기준전극으로 Ag/AgCl를 사용하여 Cyclic Voltammetry특성과 충방전 특성을 연구하였다. 전해질은 Lead Carbonate ($PbCO_3$)+Methanesulfonic acid ($CH_3SO_3H$) 들어간 수용성 전해질을 교반을 통해 이용하였다. 여러 carbon 전극재료와 생성된 Pb, $PbO_2$ 막의 표면구조, 미세구조, 상들의 변화는 XRD, SEM, EDX, Raman등을 통하여 분석하였으며, 전기화학 공정의 변수와 전극에 따른 에너지 효율특성에 대하여 고찰해 보았다.

Electrochemical Properties of Graphene-vanadium Oxide Composite Prepared by Electro-deposition for Electrochemical Capacitors (양극전착을 통한 그래핀-바나듐 산화물 복합체 제조 및 전기화학적 특성평가)

  • The nanostructural graphene/vanadium oxide (graphene/$V_2O_5$) composite with enhanced capacitance was synthesized by the electro-deposition in 0.5 M $VOSO_4$ solution. The morphology of composites was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The oxidation states of the electro-deposited vanadium oxide was found to be $V^{5+}$ and $V^{4+}$. The morphology of the prepared graphene/$V_2O_5$ composite exhibits a netlike nano-structure with $V_2O_5$ nanorods in about 100 nm diameter, which could lead a better contact between electrolyte an electrode. The composite with a deposition time of 4,000 s exhibits the specific capacitance of $854mF/cm^2$ at a scan rate of 20 mV/s and the capacitance retention of 53% after 1000 CV cycles.

A Study on 1-Butene Oxidation over Vanadium Oxide Electrode (바나듐산화물 전극상에서 1-부텐의 산화반응 연구)

  • The electrochemical characteristics of $V_2O_5$ as working electrode were studied in the cell (1-butene+$O_2$, $V_2O_5{\mid}YSZ{\mid}Ag$, $O_2$) with a YSZ solid electrolyte. The sintering of Ag as a counter electrode was occurred after calcination, and the structure which has the pores of over $3{\mu}m$ was achieved. In particular, the peak of (010) plane of the working electrode on the XRD spectrum which is responsible for selective oxidation appeared after calcination. The major product of 1-butene oxidation over $V_2O_5$ was butadiene. The technique of SEP (solid electrolyte potentiometry) was used to monitor the chemical potential of chemical species adsorbed on the working electrode. Over a wide range of gas compositions of 1-butene and oxygen, open circuit voltage (OCV) exhibited the mixed potential of surface oxygen activity.

  • Kinetics of electrochemical polymerization of aniline on a tungsten electrode in acidic aqueous solution was studied by means of cyclic voltammetry and kinetic measurements of anodic oxidation. Aniline molecule appeared to be intially oxidized via two-electron transfer to produce oxidized deprotonated aniline ion, which subsequently undergoes nucleophilic attack to the parent aniline and results in head to tail coupling to yield a dimerized species. But, being contrary to the case of Pt electrode, the propagation of polymerization occured through attack of the monomer by the oxidized aniline monomer to polymer. The growth rate of polyaniline was slow in comparison with the growth on Pt electrode. The degradation products were confirmed to be not p-benzoquinone(BQ) but p-phenylenediamine(p-PDA) by spectrophotometry, which agrees with the fact that oxidation of p-PDA was not observed below 1.0 V.

The Development of Software Program for Depth Electrode though Occipito-temporal Route in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (내측 측두엽 간질에서 심부전극 삽입을 위한 컴퓨터 프로그램 개발)

  • The depth electrode technique, especially using the occipito-temporal route is widely used in the clinic, since it is known to be the most precise method about the invasive study of the mesial temporal lobe epilepsy. The depth electrode with the occipito-temporal route has been applied with manual calculation of MR images. Inherently there are some factor causing significant errors due to geometrical axis alignment, such as miss alignment of horizontal or vertical cutting line. In order to correct it in manually, it takes a long time. In this study, authors has developed the software for automate calculation of MRI wording for instance calculation and for the no time delaying operation. Authors could show that this software is useful for the clinic after applying if for 33 cases of the patients.
