  • This study investigated the evacuation characteristics of student of elementary school with single unit fireproof shutter. In particular, we gathered the data about fireproof shutter and checked the data. And we made comparison and did an analysis of the evacuation characteristics of elementary school student according to working of single unit fireproof shutter for fires. As a result, it took the last occupant 130 seconds to escape from the school with no fire shutter case. But it took time 190 seconds to escape when the single unit fireproof shutter worked. Some of elementary school students could not open the door installed on the shutter when the single unit fireproof shutter worked. Considering this circumstance, it can be led to time delays of escaping when the single unit fireproof shutter work. And many students can be exposed to the fire hazards. Therefore, the study on the power to open the door installed on the shutter must be done in the future.

  • According to the sequence of pintle operation, the performance characteristics of pintle nozzles are analyzed. The pintle movement was simulated using unsteady numerical techniques, the response lag and sensitivity at the chamber and nozzle are estimated for movable pintle. Three operation sequences of the pintle are considered for evaluating whether the rate of the chamber pressure increase and the operation sequence will have any significant impact towards the rocket performance. Three operation sequencies are as following; the pintle moves toward the nozzle throat, it turns instantly (case 1), stops at the nozzle throat for some time(0.5sec) (case 2), and stops at the nozzle throat (case 3). As a result, the dynamic characteristics according to the operation sequence and pintle shape were analyzed to take account the rocket performance.

  • This study presents experimental results of heat transfer characteristics of P.C.M. during outward melting process in a vertical cylinder. The experiment was carried out in six conditions, i. e., three different inlet temperature($7^{\circ}C,\;4^{\circ}C\;and\;1^{\circ}C$) and two directions of working fluid(upward and downward). Melting P.C.M. produced a bell-shaped phase change interface. When the inlet temperature was $7^{\circ}C$, the lower region remained at $4^{\circ}C$ until the temperature of upper region reached $4^{\circ}C$. This was due to the state of maximum density of the lower region. When the direction of the working fluid in the case of $7^{\circ}C$, inlet temperature, was upward, the rate of melting and the total melting energy were higher than when it's direction was downward. But the rate of melting and the total melting energy appeared higher value as it's direction was downward when the inlet temperature is $4^{\circ}C$ and $1^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper presents active vibration control performance of a hybrid mount. The proposed hybrid mount is devised by adopting both piezostack as an active actuator and rubber as a passive element. After experimentally identifying actuating force characteristics of the piezostack and dynamic characteristics of the rubber, the hybrid mount was designed and manufactured. Subsequently, a vibration control system with a specific mass loading is constructed, and its governing equations of motion are derived. In order to actively attenuate vibration transmitted from the base, a feedforward controller is formulated and experimentally realized. Vibration control responses are then evaluated in time and frequency domains.

  • This study is intended to evaluate the characteristics of smoke spreading and the appropriateness of evacuation time extended by operation of smoke control system during fire within the underground space of the building structured in compliance with the smoke control system performance criteria from the local fire safety standard in Korea. As a preceding review of this study, the combustibles was categorized and identified their heat release rates. For validate the estimated values, modeling a single underground shop was carried out. And a numerical analysis both in case of smoke control system in operation and the system not in operation was carried out of underground space. From the viewpoint of securing the evacuation time, the results were compared in an attempt to assess the appropriateness of the fire safety criteria.

  • Compressed air represents an energy source and an force-transmission medium for brake systems on medium-heavy and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. However, one disadvantage is the tendency of air to absorb moisture in the form of water vapor. This water vapor condenses once the air, which is heated during compression, cools back to ambient temperature upon emerging from the air compressor. The resulting condensation assumes the form of moisture in pneumatic lines, air tanks, cylinders and valve assemblies and can have negative consequences for the brake system and vehicle safety. The pneumatic systems on today's vehicles are equipped with air dryers, in which the supplied air is dried according to the adsorption principle. In the systems, the compressed air flows through a granular desiccant with molecular sieves which captures the water molecules.

  • The separation actuator for the small satellite should fix satellite appendages with high clamping force. After operation, it has to be separated from the satellite body without any damage on satellite system and release the appendages such as a solar panel and an antenna successfully. Therefore, we invent a non-explosive separation actuator for the small satellite which generates low shock and is resettable. In order to confirm performance of the proposed separation actuator, we carried out experiments for separation time, maximum preload for activation, and shock level.
