The purpose of this study is to develop an aesthetic and functional bicycle wear for new senior women in their 50s and 60s. We developed bicycle wear that is friendly to bicycling posture and reflects the preference of new senior women. Both the expert group and the subject group evaluated the appearance, completeness of clothing and motion functionality. The results are as followed: First, in the evaluation result of the expert group regarding the appearance and completeness of clothing, high scores are given to design, materials, color scheme, the trends suitability as well as the appearance with regard to clothing fitness. Second, in the results of the evaluation of the appearance and movement functionality targeting the subject groups, movement functionality was rated higher than appearance. In the case of the appearance evaluation, adhesion of both jacket and pants was rated very highly, which is considered to come from the elasticity of the material. In the functionality evaluation, what were pointed out as inconvenient details in the prior studies were found to be all improved and the sleeves and armpit parts were rated highly. Therefore, the pattern design and the usage of the materials suggested in this study were found to be very suitable in the movement on the ride of bicycle.
This study investigates preferred bicycle wear designs that can satisfy active senior consumers. A survey was conducted on 50-60's women who periodically rode bicycles. The results indicated a preference for slim designs and red colors. Jacket designs preferences were for a tight fit for size tolerance, stand collar style, and elastic band details for cuff styles. Pants design preferences were for a whole band waist belt type with a tight fit style such as leggings in pants silhouette, zipper details on the side line and ankle length. They also preferred styles with pads attached to underpants in the pad style and the part of the back waist in the pocket position. The survey showed four kinds of jacket design drawings on an ordinal scale rating. Results indicated a preference for set-in variation jackets with the red and gray color combination. Finally, we demonstrated bicycle wear design suggestions. The jacket applied different armhole line colors connected to the sleeve to make the waist slimmer; in addition, stretchable material helped improve armpit part functionality.
This study identified active senior women's wearing and the purchase situation of bicycle wear to develop functional bicycle wear that can satisfy active senior consumers. The survey was conducted for women in their fifties and sixties who ride bicycles on a regular basis. A total of 119 questionnaires were used for data analysis excluding incompletely replied questionnaires. Data was analyzed by descriptive analysis, frequency analysis and cross analysis. The results are as follows. First, 50's individuals represented 60% of this survey who continuously rodebicycles for 5 years or more. The purpose of riding bicycle was exercise, leisure and club activities. Second, they wore bicycle wear while riding due to activity, functionality and safety. There is also a requirement to manufacture comfortable bicycle wear easy to put on and take off and for old people. Third, considering the purchase situation of bicycle wear, the respondents had difficulties buying bicycle wear due to price. It is necessary to have bicycle wear at a reasonable price. Fourth, the most necessary functionsforbicycle wear materials were ventilation and durability. A major function needed for future developmentwill bethermoregulation.

The results are as followed: First, emphasis is placed on the simple and functional design of the experimental wear consisting of jacket and pants. Jacket is different from the color scheme with the armhole princess line in order for the waistline to look slim. Pants are designed to hold the leg muscles tightly in order to help reduce the muscle fatigue on the bicycle ride. Second, cutting lines and coloring materials are used for the wearer to look slim and the safety of the wearer is planned to secure by inserting the reflective material along the cutting lines on the bicycle ride. Third, the pattern of the experimental wear is designed in consideration of the riding motion of the bicycle. Jacket is designed to have back length longer than front length as compared to the bicycle wears available on the market. Sewing lines in the armpit are designed to be eliminated in order to move the arms smoothly on the ride. Pants are designed to minimize the seam line in consideration of the movement of muscles and ligaments and the experimental wear is produced by combining the material with the functions of cool comfort and stretch.
This study identifies how people use bicycle wear, complaints about bicycle wear, and functions required for bicycle riding. This survey was conducted with bicycle club members (men and women) in their twenties to sixties who ride bicycles on a regular basis. A total of 373 subjects responded to questionnaires and 326 responses were used for further data analysis. The data was analyzed by descriptive analysis, multiple response analysis, crosstabulation analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and one-way ANOVA. The results are as follow: First, the people surveyed were primarily men, young adults and middle-aged people. They ride bicycles mainly to participate in club activities, to exercise, and to spend their spare time with a well-being trend that focuses on leisure and health. Second, they often utilize bicycle wear when they ride bicycles. They are aware of bicycle wear brands. In addition, a majority have purchased bicycle wear that shows a very high awareness of bicycle wear. Third, as for complaints about bicycle wear worn when riding bicycles, a majority of people answered that the waist part of the top pulls up and they feel sore with the bottom part of the pants when riding bicycles for a long time. They also answered that it is inconvenient to put belongings in both tops and pants. Fourth, there is a high demand for safety-related functions for bicycle riding in regards to the functions required for bicycle wear. In addition, a majority of the members showed a customer awareness of functional bicycle wear and intended to purchase bicycle wear equipped with smart functions.

In this study, a wrist protector was manufactured and designed using 3D printing technology to prevent wrist pain when riding a bicycle with a high forward-tilted saddle. The efficiency of the design was analyzed in objective and subjective evaluations. First, seven women in their twenties selected their most preferred design by subjective evaluation from among three 3D wrist protectors. Then electromyography (EMG) was measured and subjective sensations were evaluated while wearing and not wearing the preferred 3D wrist protector as selected by cyclists. Experimental results showed that a wrist-bending angle of 30 degrees was most favored. When the 3D wrist protector was worn, muscle activity was smaller at the flexor carpus radialis position than when the 3D wrist protector was not worn; muscle fatigue was also lower. In the subjective evaluation, the 3D wrist protector was more comfortable than no protector, and wrist fatigue was also lower. In addition, the wrist protector was rated positively for its design suitability, size adequacy, ease of operation, and fit; however, cyclists felt that a little more cushioning was needed.

Cycling has become a popular leisure activity, and many cycling enthusiasts have used cycling clothes as a form of expression, which often comes in wide range of colors. The study shows the importance of color in cycling clothing to meet the emotional needs of consumers. Furthermore, this study aims to provide comparative analysis between color of domestic and overseas cycling clothing brands, and color preference of Korean consumers in order to provide data, which can be used in satisfying consumers' needs for personal expression and emotional demands. Thus, the study expects to identify consumers' satisfaction for cycling clothing. The consumers were categorized by the frequency of cycling and their interest in fashion, and the following categories were made:potential consumers, casual cyclists with low fashion involvement, casual cyclists with high fashion involvement and frequent cyclists with high fashion involvement. Consumers preferred dark colors for their cycling clothing including jacket, top and pants, while 'frequent cyclists with high fashion involvement' preferred more diverse colors and tones. In the cycling clothing market, white and black were major colors, while red, orange and blue were major colors of chromatic color. In terms of shade, dark shade dominated the market. Comparing between preferred color and preferred product color, black was preferred for both, but no other colors showed such tendency. This study is based on empirical analysis and verification of color, which is the emotional element appealing to specific and segmented sports-apparel market. The study revealed that the data could be applicable to the design of future products.
The purpose of this study is to provide essential information conducive to designing efficient cycling apparel for everyday wear. To this end, this study identified key situations that cyclists face while riding their bicycles as well as clothing functions that are necessary for each situation. Furthermore, this study also analyzed the current trends in cycling apparels and hybrid designs. In order to analyze the current trends of clothing functionality in domestic and foreign cycling apparel brands, the researchers of this study first reviewed existing literature on the functionality of cycling clothing. Then a focus group, which comprised of two experts in cycling fashion brands and fourteen consumers, was formed and in-depth interviews were conducted to identify the major conditions related to bicycle riding. Based on the results of the interview, the study, then, classified 700 images of cycling clothing from exhibitions and 1,541 images of cycling clothing that were launched by domestic and foreign fashion brands. The results of this study were as follows. First, there were three major conditions in bicycle riding: night riding, weather changes and riding convenience. Second, functionalities required for each riding condition were as follows: visibility for night riding, comfort, waterproofness and heat preservation properties for weather changes, and elasticity, protective properties and storage capacity for riding convenience. Finally, hybrid designs for each riding condition were different from general designs.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in riding characteristics and helmet wearing conditions between bicycle and PMV riders so that the basis data necessary for the development of suitable helmets for each group is provided. For this purpose, riding characteristics and helmet wearing conditions of bicycle and PMV users were investigated using online survey method and then the survey results were interpreted by in-depth interview conducted for bicycle and PMV users. The online survey results showed that the PMV group showed shorter driving distance and more driving frequency than bicycle group. This short driving distance was due to the limitation of battery capacity of PMVs. Helmet wearing rate was significantly lower in PMV group than in bicycle group, which was associated with relatively low chances to drive long distance on the motorway. In the PMV group, the 'urban helmets' were mainly used, in which the appearance of helmet was priorized, but in the bicycle group, the 'road cycle helmets' were mainly used, in which the light weight or ventilation were priorized. Urban helmets caused stronger pain and more fitting problems than road cycle helmets because the head shapes of Koreans were not properly applied to the helmet design. Since the fitting problem and pain intensity were the important causes that making PMV users not wear the helmets, it is necessary to develop the urban helmets reflecting the head shapes of Koreans in order to increase the helmet wearing rate of the PMV users.

Anthropometry has been broadly explored in various fields including automobile industry, home electronic appliances, medical appliances and sports goods with aiming at reaching satisfaction to consumer's need and efficiency. However, current technologies to measure a human body still have barriers in which the methods mostly seem to be contingent on expensive devices such as scanner and digital measuring instruments and to be directly touchable to the body when obtaining body size.. Therefore, in this paper, we present a general method to automatically extract size of body from a real body image acquired from a camera and to utilize it into recommend systems including clothing and bicycle fitting. At first, Haar-like features and AdaBoost algorithm are employed to detect body position. Then features of body can be recognized using AAM. Finally clothing and bicycle recommending modules have been implemented and experimented to validate the proposed method.
