Development of Safety Evaluation Scenario for Autonomous Vehicle Take-over at Expressways (고속도로 자율주행자동차 제어권 전환 안전성 평가를 위한 시나리오 개발)

  • In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, research and development on autonomous vehicles have been actively conducted all over the world. Under these international trends, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is actively promoting the development of autonomous vehicles aiming at commercialization of autonomous vehicles at level 3 or higher by 2020. In the level 3 autonomous vehicle, it is essential to transfer control between the driver and the vehicle according to driving situations. Prior to the full-fledged autonomous vehicle age, this study developed a representative scenario for the safety evaluation on take-over on expressways. To accomplish this, we developed a highway driving scenario first, and then developed six control transition scenarios based on 2014 highway traffic accident data and take-over data. The variables to be considered in the developed scenarios are divided into drivers, vehicles, and environmental factors. A total of 36 variables are selected.

  • 자율주행자동차는 운전자의 개입 없이 스스로 목적지까지 도착할 수 있는 차량으로 세계 여러나라의 자동차 업체 뿐만 아니라 IT분야에서도 개발중에 있다. 일반 자동차와는 달리 차량에 카메라와 GPS, 각종 센서 등 IT 기술들이 도입되어 운전자와 차량 간에 소통이 이루어지면서 편리함을 가져다 준다. 그러나 자율주행자동차는 하나의 스마트폰이 탑재되었다고 볼 수 있을 만큼 지능적이고 다양한 기술이 적용되어 있기 때문에 취약점과 위협 요소가 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 자율주행자동차의 운행으로 인해 야기될 수 있는 취약점을 분석하고 적용 가능한 보안 고려사항을 제시한다.

  • As the development automated vehicles(AV) actively progresses around the world, the demand for a reasonable and systematic evaluation method for AVs is increasing. Research on scenarios, evaluation procedures, and methods for evaluating AVs conducted in simulations and proving ground(PG) is actively conducted internationally. In contrast, methods and procedures for evaluations on real roads are still in their infancy internationally. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on evaluating AVs on real roads in preparation for future use of AVs. This study aims to define the basic direction for evaluating the driving safety of AVs on real roads. To this end, the evaluation direction and process of AVs were presented on the real roads, and qualitative and quantitative evaluation indicators were selected to evaluate driving safety. A total of 38 items were selected based on the Road Traffic Act as qualitative evaluation items for evaluating the driving safety of AVs on real roads.

  • 본 논문에서는 운전자의 안전 및 승차감을 향상시키기 위한 운전자 지원 시스템 기술의 개발 현황과 최근 연구 동향에 대해서 언급하고 있다. 더 나아가 운전자 지원 시스템의 궁극적인 목표인 자율 주행 제어 시스템을 구현하기 위해서 전세계적으로 활발히 진행되고 있는 연구 개발 현황 및 주요 이슈들에 대해서 간략히 언급하고 있다. 마지막으로 지능형 자동차 및 자율 주행 자동차의 개발에 따른 사회적 기대 효과를 다루고 실제 지능형 자동차 및 자율 주행 자동차 기술의 구현을 위해 남아있는 과제에 대해 간략히 언급하고 있다.

  • 본고에서는 스마트 카/자율주행에서 스마트 폰과의 연결성에 대해 알아본다. 2008년 스마트폰이 막 등장한 시점에 자동차와의 연결에 대해 연구를 진행했던 당시에는 매우 획기적인 일이었지만 이제는 스마트폰과 스마트카는 연동되는 것이 당연한 시대가 되었다. 스마트폰의 기능 중 자동차와 연동하는 기능이 제공되기 시작했고 스마트 카의 핵심기능으로 마케팅 아이템으로도 사용되고 있다. 차량과 스마트 폰 연결성의 표준화 동향과 스마트 폰 플랫폼 사와 자동차 제조사간의 영역 다툼에 대해서도 살펴보고, 다가올 무인주행시대에서 스마트 폰의 역할에 대해 전망해 본다. 마지막으로 스마트 카와 자율주행 차의 컨테츠로 자율주행 네비게이션과 멀티미디어 컨텐츠에 대해서도 알아본다.

  • In order for an autonomous vehicle to be commercialized, it is necessary to conduct a safety test for every aspect. Considering the implementation of the autonomous vehicles technologies to the highest level, it is necessary to analyze the possible scenarios in the most complex environment as in the urban area. It should be confirmed whether autonomous vehicles can be operated with conventional traffic signal environment. It is also required to confirm the ability of autonomous vehicles in interacting with other vehicles, and coping with possible accidents on the road. In this study, the evaluation factors of autonomous vehicles in the road environment are selected by referring to the other evaluation protocols like ADAS. Study result would be reflected in establishing the autonomous vehicle evaluation method for different test environment along with various technology implementation level.

Among these industries, autonomous vehicles based on artificial intelligence, big data and internet of things is one of the most promising industry. Autonomous vehicle stray from classical car domain of manufacturers and suppliers, IT/Electronics suppliers and communication companies are widen their business area to autonomous vehicle technology. In this paper, we analysis the state of art of autonomous vehicle technology and development direction of industries/research institute. Finally, we discuss the social/economic effects of autonomous vehicle.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the social acceptance of AVs by analyzing the citizen's perception using an emotional analysis technique which belongs to a type of text mining. The source of the data is originated from 3 year accumulated internet articles and comments on AV from 164 newspapers and Naver. According to the study results, there exists a positive perception on AVs, although negative ones are more frequent than the positive. Also most of people take neutral position on AV due to the unfamiliarity and lack of experience on AVs And these problems needs to be responded before AV's commercialization through continuous analyses on the perception and social acceptance.

  • As the 4th industrial revolution has recently become a hot topic, the importance of autonomous vehicles has increased and interest has been increasing worldwide, and accidents involving autonomous vehicles have also occurred. With the development of autonomous vehicles, the possibility of a cyber-hacking threat to the car network is increasing. Various countries, including the US, UK and Germany, have developed guidelines to counter cyber-hacking of autonomous vehicles, In the case of Korea, limited temporary operation of autonomous vehicles is being carried out, but the legal system to be applied in case of accidents caused by vehicle network hacking is insufficient. In this paper, based on the existing legal system, we examine the civil liability caused by the cyber hacking of the autonomous driving car, while we propose a law amendment suited to the characteristics of autonomous driving car and a legal system improvement plan that can give sustainable trust to autonomous driving car.
