  • 사용자가 컴퓨터와 자연스럽고 인간적으로 대화할 수 있고, 사람의 요구에 지능적인 해답을 능동적으로 제시할 수 있는 사용자 인터페이스 에이전트가 활발히 연구되고 있다. 음성, 펜, 제스쳐인식 등을 비롯한 다양한 방법을 통하여 사람의 의사전달방식을 컴퓨터의 입력수단으로 구현하여 사용자 편의성을 도모하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터를 블랙박스로 하고, 표면적으로 지능형 3차원 그래픽 얼굴 에이전트와 사용자가 의사소통을 하는 사용자 인터페이스를 대상으로 하였다. 컴퓨터가 단순문제 해결을 위한 도구에서 많은 정보를 다양한 매체를 통해 제공하는 보조자의 역할을 수행하게 되었기 때문에 위의 방법은 보다 적극적인 방법이라 할 수 있다. 이를 위한 기반 기술로써 국어를 발음하는 얼굴 애니메이션을 연구하였다. 발음을 표현하기 위한 데이터로써 디지털 카메라를 사용하여 입술 운동의 특징점의 위치를 조사하였고, 모델링 시스템을 개발하여 데이터를 입력하였다. 적은 데이터로도 복잡한 자유곡면을 표현할 수 있는 B-Spline곡면을 기본데이터로 사용하였기 때문에 애니메이션을 위한 데이터의 양 또한 줄일 수 있었다. 그리고 국어음소의 발음시간 수열에 대한 입술모양의 변화를 조사하여 발음소리와 입술 움직임을 동기화 시킨 발음 애니메이션을 구현하였다.

A Robust Korean Spoken Language Parsing Based on Core Concept (핵심개념 기반의 강건한 한국어 대화체 파싱)

  • The partial free order feature of Korean makes grammar size represented by CFG too big and that's why grammar has to contain all the ordered words. There are some problems to parse spoken language, because spontaneous spoken language has special features such as meaningless words, repetitious speech, etc. So, in this paper, we define 'Core-Concept' as the necessary element for parsing and we describe grammar only using Core-Concept. And we can prevent grammar from becoming very large and reduce an additional parsing burden as we select. Core-Concept described in grammar as parsing element. Through this strategy, we present that the simplified grammar can give us more efficient method to get right results. Experiments show that our parsing strategy has an average of 98% or over success rate in correct parsing results.

Science Educators' Perceptions About the Learning Situation of Visually Impaired Students through Scientific Inquiry in the Darkroom (암실 속 과학탐구를 경험한 과학교육자들의 시각장애학생의 학습상황에 대한 인식)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the perspectives of science educators on the learning situations of visually impaired students through scientific inquiry in a darkroom. Twenty-four science educators who came to the annual conference of the Korean Association for Science Education volunteered to participate in 'the scientific inquiry in the darkroom' activities. They were encouraged to touch models of 'the molecular structure of ice' and 'the structure of eyes' and to discuss with participants during the activities. Surveys were done before and after darkroom activities, and the discussions during and after the activities were recorded and analyzed. As a result, participants recognized that science education for visually impaired students is both very feasible and necessary. Also, some of them, who have had an experience of teaching blind students and thought that they fully understood the learning situation of the visually impaired, were especially surprised by the fact that they did not actually understand how it was like to be a visually impaired and responded that they were able to more deeply comprehend the learning situation of visually impaired students through these activities. Through this experience, participants also became resolute to try more deeply to understand not only the visually impaired students, but also sighted students with learning disabilities. Based on these results, educational implications of scientific inquiry in the darkroom were discussed.

Career Cognition, Key Competency, Vocational Values of University Students and Junior College Students (대학생의 진로 관련 인식, 직업기초능력, 직업가치)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze career cognition, key competency, vocational values of university students and junior college students. The study was carried out through questionnaire survey method. The population sample for the study constituted 368 completed questionnaires from sample of 373 freshmen-women of university and students. A survey questionnaire consisted of career cognition items, key competency scale, vocational values scale, and personal characteristics items. The construct validity of key competency scale and vocational values scale were confirmed by factor analysis with varimax rotation. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were employed for data analysis. Major findings of this study were as follows: First, university students and junior college students most wanted to get a job after graduate. Many students decided their career at high school days. Many students were not prepared for their career after graduate. They recognized that major curriculum of university and junior college was very helpful to prepare their career. And many students discussed with their parents about their career. Second, key competency of them was moderately high. In the items of key competencies, 'communication and following' was the highest. And key competency of university students was better than that of junior college students. Key competency of male students was better than that of female students. Third, vocational values of them were high. In the items of vocational values, 'occupational stability' was the highest, and 'work in freedom and challenge' was the lowest. 'Occupational stability' and 'work in freedom and challenge' of junior college students was higher than that of university students. And 'occupational stability' of female students was higher than that of male students.

Medical Certificate as an Evidence of Personal Injury (진단서의 증명력: 상해진단서를 중심으로)

  • Medical certificate is a document to demonstrate a patient's health status, made up and signed by a physician, dentist, or oriental physician who attended the patient. It serves as an evidence in many official process including civil or criminal law suit, especially for one's personal injury. The Korean legal system also acknowledges and protects the evidentiary function of medical certificate by mandating physicians etc. to issue medical certificate in good faith and only when they personally attended the patient, and by criminally punishing them when they do not comply with these legal requirements. There are some reasons, however, that medical certificates often do not reflect the true health status of the patient: When physicians attend the patient and collect information regarding the health status of the patient, their priority is and should be the most cost-effective way to meet the health needs of the patient. It does not necessarily correspond to the accurate examination of the health status of the patient. Even when the patient's report on the history of the illness or the injury seems suspicious, physicians might have to avoid disproving it because that kind of attitude might harm the rapport between the physician and the patient. All these can distort the perception of the physicians and this distortion can be reproduced in the medical certificate they made up. Some of these problems might be resolved or at least enhanced by introducing new form of medical certificate which would guide physicians to reveal the nature, factual and theoretical grounds, and the limit of their findings more accurately. Others, however, would not be able to address, because it stems from the conflict between the physician's primary duty, duty to be loyal to the patient's life and health, and his secondary duty to serve as a public or neutral witness on the health status of the patient, and when both values or duties conflict with each other, they should choose the duty to the patient sacrificing the duty to the public or the court.

Experiences of Korean Homestay Guardians of Early Study Abroad Students in the U.S. (미국 한인 조기유학생 홈스테이 가디언의 경험)

  • The aim of this study was to determine key experiences of homestay guardians of unaccompanied minor Korean adolescents studying abroad in the United States through qualitative research method of grounded theory methodology. This study identified guardianship experiences and the process of adjustment to life with homestay students through in-depth interviews with 12 subjects who are Korean guardians in the United States. The results of this study classified "started with concern" as a category that leads guardians to start providing homestay accommodation, and "other's recommendation," "need for financial support," and "unexpectedly" as subcategories. This study identified "act as a mediator to resolve differences" as a key experience of guardians, and classified subcategories are "parental role" and "calculation of gains and losses" on a personal level; and "feel sorry for own children," "limited leeway of the family," and "formation of relationship between own children and homestay students" on a family level. Developed subcategories are "thirsty for attention," "vulnerability," "task on freedom and control," and "regrettable feeling in the absence of communication" with respect to relationship with students; "grade expectations," "one-way communication," "trapped between parents' and students' demands" in regard to relationship with parents; and "advice from school" in the aspect of school. "Cultural difference," "preparedness of students and parents," "age differences between guardian's children and students," "family support," "similar personalities," "guardian's motivation," and "parent's attitude" are subcategories that affect central phenomenon of guardians.

Subjectivity toward Death among HIV-Positive Men (HIV 감염인 남성의 죽음에 대한 주관성)

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the attitude of Korean HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)-positive men toward death. Methods: A Q-methodology was performed with 20 HIV-positive male individuals. Participants were asked to select and answer questions among a set of 40 Q-statements using a 9-point scale. The collected data were analyzed using the PC QUANL program. Results: Participants' attitudes toward death were categorized into four types. Type I was characterized by respect for life, type II by reality orientation, type III by pain evasion and type IV religious beliefs. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop an assessment tool and an intervention program for HIV-positive individuals.

Pre-Service Chemistry Teachers' Awareness of Visually Impaired Students' Learning Situation through Scientific Inquiry about Molecular Structure of Ice in Darkroom (얼음의 분자구조에 대한 암실 속 과학탐구 활동에서 시각장애학생의 학습상황에 대한 예비 화학교사들의 인식)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the perspective of pre-service chemistry teachers on the learning situations of visually impaired students through scientific inquiry in a darkroom and to propose a teaching and learning method for students with visual impairments. Twenty-one pre-service chemistry teachers from college of education in Gyeongbuk were encouraged to explore individually hands-on model for the molecular structure of ice freely, and had a discussion with a one of the researchers during the activity. All the conversation and discussion were audio-taped and transcribed for analysis. As a result, pre-service chemistry teachers realized that learning situation of the visually impaired students was quite different with their perception while exploring and figuring out hands-on model of the molecular structure of ice in the darkroom. They already learned and could see this model by themselves but also recognized that visually impaired students had inconvenience and difficulty in learning science concepts. Based on these reflections, some pre-service chemistry teachers suggested directions for modification to fit visually impaired students' needs more.

Interactive G$^1$ Splines with Tangent Specification Method (접선 지정법을 이용한 대화형 G$^1$스플라인)

  • Spline curve scheme is the most valuable tool for the CAD of industrial products. Hence, the development of a new, effective curve scheme can have immediate impact on the current design industries. This paper develops and implements a new methodology for the implementation of the visually continuous class of splines which can produce a more flexible and diverse curve shapes. This class of splines has advantaged over existing splines in that it can accommodate wider range of shapes while maintaining the interpolators property of the ordinary cardinal splines. Most importantly, we avoid using the previous method of implementing G$^1$ curves, where users must specify scalar values for the control of curve shapes. We derive and implement an easy-to -use transformation between the user-specified graphical tangent vectors and the actual parameters for the resulting curve. Since the resulting curve shape reflects original tangential direction faithfully, CAD users can simply represent approximate curve shapes with proper tangents. Consequently, a simple user interface device such as a mouse can effectively produce a various spline curves using the proposed spline tool.

On the Hongdong Herstory (홍동허스토리의 방법과 의미)

  • Hongdong Herstory in an narrative-based archival activities. This Herstory Workshop designed by a facilitator who is using her love for language and storytelling to empower all voices. Herstory Workshop has been opened at winter every year for a month. The place where the workshop opened is located at farming area. Hongdong Herstory Workshop has been the field where the members of the community having a talk together. 20 women have been participated at the Herstory Workshop. Herstory projects have been published every year. This essay is an trial for rearchiving the herstory projects. This essay focused on the narrative function of archives.
