The government introduced a free semester in 2013, current targets middle school education as a core policy for nurturing creative talent, the year 2016 has been carried out in front of all middle school. This purpose of this study was to develop and spread the library-based reading culture program model for free semester. In this study, for which students, teachers, parents, conducted a survey of the reading culture program requirements librarian. A library-based reading program of free cultural self-semester course four areas according to the configuration (career exploration activities, group activities, arts and sports activities, theme activities select) was developed.

The purpose of this paper was to understand the outlines of 1) common and free curricula implemented by the first pilot schools and 2) Home Economics related programs from both curricula. This study analyzed the 42 reports from the first pilot schools which implemented the free learning semester in 2013. The results showed that more than half of schools set two or more emphasis models of the free learning semester. In 15 out of 28 schools, the lesson hours of Home Economics were reduced by one to three hours. Various common curricula were implemented in many aspects of teaching-learning methods, curriculum, evaluation, and subject related career lessons. Free curriculum was implemented in four areas such as career exploration, student optional program, club activity, and art sports activity. In common curriculum, Home Economics was carried out in 17 out of 39 schools. The Home Economics class included subject related career lessons and improvement of teaching- learning methods. Various interesting activities and programs as a free curriculum were implemented in career exploration, students' optional program, and club activities in 38 schools. The most frequently implemented was the activity program related to food and nutrition. Further research was proposed to develop students' optional programs related to Home Economics subject, responding to their needs.

The purpose of this study is to develop a theme-selection activity in 'clothing life' in relation to SDGs(Sustainable Development Goals) for the free semester program. After analyzing the contents of the 'clothing life' area of middle school home economics textbooks based on the SDGs, the content system and learning goals were set. Then a program was developed and the validity and the feasibility of the program were verified. As a result of the analysis of textbooks, the contents of 'clothing life' included all the three basic dimensions of social development, economic growth, and environment protection, yet focus only on 1 or 2 goals of each area. Based on the results of the analysis, a 'Righteous(義) Clothing(衣) Life' program was developed. The developed program consists of teaching-learning process plans and teaching-learning materials in eight class periods, including 'The future everyone dreams of' based on SDG12, 'Two faces of fast fashion' based on SDG1, SDG5, SDG8, SDG10, 'Living as Homoclimatus' based on SDG13, and 'The future we create' based on SDG9 and SDG12. Through the expert evaluation process for the developed program, the program's teaching and learning adequacy and feasibility were reviewed and feedback was actively reflected to correct and supplement the program. Through this study, it is expected that it will contribute to laying the foundation for establishing home economics as a subject that educates citizens who practice sustainable life, and a pivotal subject in education for sustainable development.

Recently, there has been a growing demand for school libraries to take on the role of curriculum convergence and content development. This study purposed to develop a program that integrates reading activities and artificial intelligence (AI) education in a middle school library as a platform for convergence education. The program aimed to enhance creative problem-solving skills by integrating an understanding of AI concepts and principles through reading activities related to AI topics. The program, comprising 18 sessions (6 modules), was implemented with 36 first-year students at A Middle School, Gyeonggi-do, in 2022. After implementation, a paired-sample t-test revealed significant improvements in AI learning self-efficacy and creative problem-solving skills. Participants also showed positive attitudes toward class engagement and reading activities. Implications for AI convergence education in connection with school libraries were discussed.

The purpose of this study is to explore the process of inquiry problem finding in high school students' small group free-inquiry. For this purpose, 91 second grade high school students took part in small group free-inquiry. We conducted interviews with students (48 students in 15 groups) who were relatively successful in the inquiry performed for one semester (about 4 months). Based on the results of the interviews, we analyzed the characteristics of the inquiry problem finding through the steps and strategies in the inquiry problem finding process. The main results are as follows: First, in the inquiry problem finding process, steps such as selecting keyword, presenting an inconvenience, presenting a question, and finding an inquiry problem were found, and in particular, the process of selecting the keyword that correspond to the subject of inquiry, such as the material and situation of inquiry, is very important step in inquiry problem finding. Second, the strategies that students used in the process of finding inquiry problem included searching information, review of prior research, sharing of knowledge and experience, linking and extension of knowledge and experience, environmental awareness, expert consultation, discussion of suitability, elaboration, etc. Third, finding an inquiry problem was relatively easy in the inquiry for finding out problems (i.e. inconvenience) in everyday life and investigating ways to solve them. Fourth, the review of prior researches through the internet was useful in the process of selecting keyword and elaboration. Fifth, the factors that students consider when selecting one of several candidate inquiry problems are feasibility, real-life applicability, and economic condition. Sixth, the current affairs had a positive impact on the inquiry problem finding. Based on the above results, we discussed some ways to increase students' inquiry problem finding ability.
