백두대간은 한반도의 근간 축을 이루며 한민족의 상징성을 지닌 지역으로 총 연장 약 1,600km. 해발 100m부터 2,750m로 1대간, 1정간, 13정맥으로 이루어져 있으며 백두대간은 산자분수령의 기본 개념에 따라 우리 땅의 골간을 이루는 한반도의 중심 산줄기이다. 또한 남과 북이 하나의 대간으로 형성되어 있다는 상징적인 지리인식체계에 바탕을 두고 있다. 백두대간의 생태계는 우리나라 생물 다양성을 대표하는 자연환경 지역으로서 자원보전적 가치와 함께 입지 및 자원특성에 기인한 다양한 자원이용 환경도 존재한다. (중략)

"솟아라! 희망아" 임진년(壬辰年) 흑룡의 해가 밝았다. 10개의 천간 중에서 임(壬)자는 물을 나타내고 검은 색을 상징한다. 12간지에서 용을 의미하는 진(辰)과 결합하여 임진년(壬辰年) 흑룡의 해가 된다.

In these days, each local administrative organizations and residents have made constant efforts to achieve unique regional identity and its publicity as a strategy for 'Place Marketing'. Developing a proper symbolic regional theme for the area can bring the economic and cultural vitality to the local areas. The purpose of this study is to investigate and to analyze the contents of theme and expression methods of local theme museums of Japan for last 20years. The types of regional themes appeared as 'Physical' part like topography/ecology, relics and manmade facilities, and 'Social ＆ Cultural' part like industry, culture, people or historic events. The cases of expression methods such as Representation, Metaphor, Symbol and Metonymy could be also found. There was an increasing tendency applying and expressing the symbolic regional theme more impressively as the time passed.

본 연구는 지역이 가지고 있는 중요한 자원을 자연 생태적 요소, 역사 문화적 요소, 시각 환경적 요소 등으로 분류한 후 충남지역 16개 시 군을 대상으로 군의 상징적 요소로서 가치 있는 자원의 발굴과 동시에 개발에 밀려 점점 사라져가는 농산어촌 대표경관의 추출을 통해 자원의 중요성을 AHP(계층 분석적 의사 결정기법)모델을 통해 분석하여 상호 중요도를 파악하고자 한다. 이러한 연구를 통해 지역의 대표적인 상징적 요소와 경관적 요소의 상관성을 파악함과 동시에 중요도에 따라 순위(ranking ordering)를 결정함으로서 지역의 정체성(identity)을 확보하고, 향후 보전할 자원의 특성을 파악함으로써 지역의 문화적, 환경적, 생태적 자원가치의 패러다임을 구축하고자 한다. 연구방법은 1차적으로 문헌조사를 통한 지역의 자원특성에 대한 분류체계를 설정한 후 전문가 집단을 선정하여 설문조사를 통한 통계적 분석방법을 사용하고자 한다. 전문가 집단은 지역에 대한 비교적 잘 파악하고 있는 지역전문가(관련대학 교수, 공무원, 연구원 등)로 구성하였으며, 1, 2차 설문을 통한 상징성 및 대표경관자원을 최종적으로 선정한 후, 3차 설문에서는 농촌 및 경관관련 전문가 집단을 재선정하여 AHP(계층 분석적 의사결정)기법을 통한 자원의 중요도를 파악하고자 한다. 분석방법은 자료의 계량적 분석을 위해 통계프로그램인 SPSS 12.0 for Windows와 도출된 상징요소의 가중치를 파악하기 위해 AHP 프로그램인 ExpertChoice 2006을 사용하여 도출된 상징요소의 가중치별 순위를 측정하여 분석의 과학성, 논리성, 타당성을 확보하고자 한다.

본 논문은 불교에서 많은 영향을 받은 태국 근대시에 표현된 자연, 사랑 그리고 계몽사상의 조화를 연구하였다. 연구주제로 태국 근대시를 선택한 이유는 태국문학의 유산에 끼친 불교의 지속적인 영향을 조명하기 위함이다. 본 연구를 위하여 선택한 시들은 현대에도 많이 읽혀지고 있는 안칸 칼라야나퐁, 나오와랏 퐁파이봄, 파이와린 카옹감, 그리고 삭시리 메솜수엡 등과 같은 작가의 작품들이다. 이 작가들의 시에 표현된 공통적인 특성은 자연, 사람, 그리고 계몽사상이라는 주제들 간의 조화이다. 모든 주제들이 절묘하게 엮여져서 본래 불교 시였던 것이 인간의 보편적인 시로 변화되는 결과를 낳는다. 아라칸 칼라야나퐁은 종종 자연을 지혜와 연민을 표상하는 것으로 묘사하고, 자연에 대한 사랑을 계몽사상에 대한 도구로 주창한다. 삭시리 메솜수엡은 자연의 단순함과 고요함을 계몽사상의 지혜를 쌓을 수 있도록 유도하는 명상적 각성을 제공하는 자아발전의 수단으로 바라본다. 이들 근대 작가들의 교훈적인 시에 나타나는 자연, 사랑 그리고 계몽사상의 조화는 다양성 속의 지속적인 통합으로 상징되는 동남아 문화의 불교적 유산에 대한 명백한 증거이다.

We identified the diversity, geographical distribution, ecological characteristics of birds, trees, and flowers species designated as local government symbols as a means for understanding public awareness on biodiversity. A total of 114 species including 48 birds, 40 flowers, 36 tree species belonging to 40 orders 59 families 90 genus were designated as natural symbols. Pica pica (L.) in birds, Rhododendron schlippenbachii Maxim. among flowers, have also been designated as symbols. The tree Ginkgo biloba L. was designated with the highest frequency. Local governments located coastal area were selected bird species of the Laridae family and the tree species Camellia japonica L., of Pinaceae as their natural symbols. In contrast, local governments located inland have designated resident bird species such as P. pica and Columba rupestris (Pallas) and flower species from the Ericaceae as natural symbols widely distributed and easily observed throughout South Korea. However, many local governments have designated the same species as a natural symbol based on their size color and public appeal and popularity. The information about the popular species and their ecological traits are useful for establishing the criteria as flagship or iconic species selection and their roles in habitat conservation.

The development process of cyber literature theory in the 1990s clearly shows the duality of the pursuit of symbolic power and desire through the formation and conflict of literary fields, collective intelligence. All desires are bound to be power-oriented, and cyber literature is meaningful in that network-space critics developed while advocating the humanities of coexistence. The failure of cyber literature theory is due to the conflicting desire of critical power between real and virtual spaces. Cyber literature theory in the 1990s was the first literary response to the birth of artificial nature, although the contradiction of desires revealed in symbolic power and the limitations of barking are clear. Literature discourse has always explored the relationship between the social conditions of the time (including technological progress) and art texts. Producing a new critical discourse encompassing the whole within the literary field of artificial nature is an important task in literature in the era of technology compilation, and humanities and technology must coexist. Through this paper, we examined the impact of the birth of artificial nature on humanities. This study is an important achievement of humanities engineering that understands, interprets, and leads technology.

우리나라의 명실상부한 최고 휴양지. 외국인들이 가장 찾고 싶어하는 곳. 바로 제주도를 이르는 말이다. 제주도는 지난 11월 12일 '뉴세븐원더스(New7wonders)'에 의해 '세계 7대 자연경관'으로 선정됐다. 이를 통해 제주도는 우리나라 국민들은 물론, 전세계인들에게 관광지 및 자연유산의 산실로 더욱 큰 사랑을 받을 것으로 전망된다. 최근 이곳에 아주 의미있는 건물이 들어서고 있다. 바로 제주세계자연유산센터다. 제주의 관광을 상징하고 국제적 위상에 걸 맞는 탐방인프라를 구축하고자 추진해 온 세계자연유산센터는 지난해 8월 착공에 들어가 내년 6월에 준공될 계획에 있다. 이 센터는 제주 자연유산의 관리 및 보전을 위한 연구와 모니터링 활동을 하게 된다. 쉽게 말해 제주도의 모든 자연 문화적 유산을 이 제주세계자연유산센터에서 통괄적으로 관리, 운영하게 되는 것이다. 이렇게 사회적으로 큰 의미가 있는 제주세계자연유산센터가 만약 안전하지 못하다면? 안전이 확보되지 않는 공정과 시민들의 안전을 담보지 못하는 시설이라면, 전세계인은 물론 지역민, 국내관광객 모두에게 외면 받을 수 밖에 없다. 때문에 이곳 건설현장은 '안전'을 최고의 가치로 여기며 공사를 진행하고 있다. 제주도를 찾는 국내외 관광객들의 쉼터이자 길라잡이 역할을 하게 될 제주세계자연유산센터가 안전하게 만들어지는 과정을 한 번 들여다 봤다.

안전은 관리자도 경영주도 아닌 근로자가 중심이 되어 시작될 때 진정한 안전문화가 형성된다. 오늘 찾은 삼성건설 목동트라팰리스 현장이 바로 그런 곳이다. 각종 자연재해의 위험을 미리 예견한다고 하여 영물로 알려진 쥐는 안전을 상징한다. 그래서 인지 2008년은 그 어느때 보다 안전에 대한 관심이 고조될 것으로 예상되는 가운데, 근로자 중심의 건설안전문화를 형성하고 있는 삼성건설 목동트라팰리스 현장에서 우리나라 선진안전의 희망을 보았다.
