  • This paper proposes a new security system to detect cyber-attacks based on message authentication in a in-vehicle network. In the in-vehicle network, when a sending node transmits messages in a broadcast manner, it only uses a message identifier, rather than a node's identifier. It leads to a problem not identifying the source. In the proposed system, the sending node generates a message authentication code (MAC) using a cryptographic hash function to the control data and transmits it with the control data. When generating the MAC for each message, a multidimensional chaotic map is applied to increase the randomness of the result. The receiving node compares its MAC generated from the control data in the received message with the MAC of the received message to detect whether the message transmitted from the sending node is forged or not. We evaluate the performance of the proposed system by using CANoe and CAPL (Communication Access Programming Language). Our system shows a 100% of detection rate against cyber-attacks injected.

  • As the number ofconnected cars grows, the security of the connected cars is becoming more important. There are also increasing warnings about the threat of attacks via the CAN bus used for in-vehicle networks. An attack can attack through a vulnerability in the CAN bus because the attacker can access the CAN bus remotely, or directly to the vehicle, without a security certificate on the vehicle, and send a malicious error message to the devices connected to the CAN bus. A large number of error messages put the devices into a 'Bus-Off' state, causing the device to stop functioning. There is a way to detect the error frame, or to manage the power of the devices related to the bus, but eventually the new standard for the CAN bus will be the fundamental solution to the problem. If new standards are adopted in the future, they will need to be studied.

  • Recently, modern vehicles have been controlled by Electronic Control Units (ECUs), by which the safety and convenience of drivers are highly improved. It is known that a luxury vehicle has more than 100 ECUs to electronically control its function. However, the modern vehicles are getting targeted by cyber attacks because of this computer-based automotive system. To address the cyber attacks, automotive manufacturers have been developing some methods for securing their vehicles, such as automotive Intrusion Detection System (IDS). This development is only allowed to the automotive manufacturers because they have databases for their in-vehicle network (i.e., DBC Format File) which are highly confidential. This confidentiality poses a significant challenge to external researchers who attempt to conduct automotive security researches. To handle this restricted information, in this paper, we propose a method to partially understand the DBC Format File by analyzing in-vehicle network traffics. Our method is designed to analyze Controller Area Network (CAN) traffics so that checksum signals are identified in CAN Frame Data Field. Also, our method creates a Lookup Set by which a checksum signal is correctly estimated for a given message. We validate our method with the publicly accessible dataset as well as one from a real vehicle.

  • Recent vehicles are using car internal network for various purposes such as vehicle control, diagnostic functions, and ECU program upgrade. Currently CAN and FlexRay are the most representative networks. In the next-generation network, the use of CAN FD and car ethernet is actively studied. In this paper, we aimed to compare and evaluate the diagnostic function and the program of the ECU from the upgrade view on characteristics related to download time for each network when CAN, CAN FD, and FlexRay network are applied. As a result of the simulation, it was possible to determine that the CAN FD network is currently the most suitable for the next-generation network by suppressing other networks in terms of cost performance even under conditions of 500 Kbps and 2 Mbps which are practically usable speeds.

Audio 데이터를 제어하는 방식은 ADC(Analog to Digital Converter)를 통해 Audio 데이터가 들어오면 IOC(IO Companion)를 통해 INIC으로 Audio데이터를 전달한다.

  • Recently, wireless network services are widely used, depending on the development of wireless network module technologies and the utilization gradually expanded, and thus is a trend that appears a lot of IT convergence industries. For this study, the OBD-II communication to Import your vehicle information, and other external devices in high-speed driving condition of the vehicle to verify the information system was developed to transfer data to an external server. From various sensors inside the vehicle using the OBD-II connector easily convert all users to read the information, then, Sent to the external server using the wireless network module, high-speed vehicle status check system was implemented. It was to test the performance of the system was developed using the actual circuit in a high-speed road racing vehicles. Transfer data generated from high-speed driving vehicles through the OBD-II scanner and check the status of a high-speed vehicle system was confirmed that this data is normally received. In the future, these new cars convergence of IT technology will grow as a new field of research.

  • Recently the car attached many ECUs and entertainment devices to provide the easiness maintenance and driver's convenience. CAN and MOST networks have been used to manage and control those devices in the car. Wireless network also has been established to receive information from external. These days a car navigation system with GPS is being integrated with CAN, MOST and Wireless network. In these circumstances, the car navigation system can have HMI function to integrate and control the car networks' devices. To solve the GPS problems such as positioning errors or losing signals from satellites in the tunnels and urban canyons, this paper designs and implements a method for positioning vehicle by using the sensing data of sensors and Wi-Fi devices based on this integrated environment.
