  • In this study an air flow meter was developed for MPI engine using ultrasonic sensors. The major characteristcs of the ultrasonic flow meter are high speed response, flow direction recognition and linear output. The air flow rate measurements were conducted at upstream of the throttle and intake manifold. The characteristics of the ultrasonic flow meter are compared with those of the Bosch hot wire flow meter at both steady and unsteady engine conditions.

  • 최근 화석연료의 연소로 인해 발생되는 이산화탄소에 의한 환경오염이 크게 대두가 되고 있으며, 특히나 내연기관 자동차의 배출가스는 이산화탄소의 배출량이 매우 높은 실정이다. 따라서 정부에서는 친환경자동차 분야를 하나의 성장사업으로 선정하였으며, 이에 대한 많은 연구 개발이 진행 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 출퇴근용으로 사용할 수 있는 근거리 전기자동차용 10kW급 BLDC 모터 제어기 개발에 대하여 제안을 한다. 제안된 근거리 전기자동차용 10kW급 BLDC 모터 드라이브 제어기는 한정된 공간 및 배터리 전원에서도 고토크, 고출력, 고효율, 경량화의 장점을 가지도록 개발을 하였다. 또한, BLDC 모터는 회전자 위치 정보가 필수적으로 요구되기 때문에 다양한 위치 센서를 사용할 수 있도록 홀센서, 엔코더, 레졸버를 사용할 수 있도록 모터제어기를 개발 하였다. 제안된 방식의 타당성 검증을 위해 PSIM을 이용하여 시뮬레이션 수행하였으며, 10kW급 BLDC 모터 드라이브 제어기를 제작하여 성능을 검증하였다.

  • In shuttle vans designed to transport children, the recognition of a child's approach and departure is very important. Ultrasonic sensors are generally used for a short distance around a vehicle. Although ultrasonic sensors are cheaper than other ADAS sensors, the number of sensors installed in a van should be optimized. In order to recognize the presence of a child around a shuttle van, this paper proposes the placement of ultrasonic sensors in the van. Considering the turning radius of the van and the distance from each sensor to a child, collision risk is classified as 'safe', 'warning', and 'danger'. The sensor placement and the recognition algorithm are verified in a virtual driving environment.

  • 디젤엔진에서 노킹 현상은 엔진의 성능 및 수명에 직접적인 영향을 주는 중요한 인자이며, 엔진 밸런스 또한 엔진 출력 및 내구성에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 중요한 인자이다. 따라서 노킹 진단 및 엔진 밸런스 보정 알고리즘을 적용하여 ECU를 최적화 하고자 한다. 또한 OBD-II 표준을 사용하여 차량 위주의 진단기를 개발하여 운전자 중심의 진단 서비스를 제공하며, 자동차 고장진단 신호 및 센서 출력 신호를 실시간 통신이 제공 될 수 있게 한다. 이를 위해 자동차 고장진단 신호 및 센서출력 신호를 유선시스템과 무선 시스템인 블루투스 모듈을 이용하여 실시간 통신이 제공 될 수 있는 OBD-II 진단기 S/W를 설계 및 구현하였다.

A Study on the Characteristics of Steering Angle Sensor using Magnetic Induction (자기유도를 이용한 조향각 센서의 특성 연구)

  • We have development the steering angle sensor using not only detecting parts but also integrating technique with semiconductors for automobile applications. The performance design and analysis of the steering angle sensor for intelligent vehicles is complicated due to variety of parameters. In this study, the performance characteristics of the angle sensor were analyzed using test rig. By means of magnetic induction technique, these new the steering angle sensors showed excellent magnetic characteristics. The detection range of steering angle sensor obtained was ${\pm}800^{\circ}$, the maximum non-linearity is 0.744% Full Span and the temperature range was $-40^{\circ}C{\sim}+125^{\circ}C$. With this conclusive, the inductive angle sensor was quite satisfactory for many applications in intelligent vehicles.

  • SCC (Smart Cruise Control) and AEBS (Autonomous Emergency Braking System) are using various types of sensors data, so it is important to consider about sensor data reliability. In this paper, data from radar and vision sensor is fused by applying a Bayesian sensor fusion technique to improve the reliability of sensors data. Then, it presents a sensor fusion verification tool developed to monitor acquired sensors data and to verify sensor fusion results, efficiently. A parallel computing method was applied to reduce verification time and a series of simulation results of this method are discussed in detail.

  • One of the major problems limiting the accuracy of piezoelectric transducers fur cylinder pressure measurements in an internal combustion (IC) engine is the thermal shock. Thermal shock is generated from the temperature variation during the cycle. This temperature variation results in contraction and expansion of the diaphragm and consequently changes the force acting on the quartz in the pressure transducer An empirical equation for compensation of the thermal shock error was derived from consideration of the diaphragm thermal deformation and actual pressure data. The result indicate that the thermal shock equation provides reliable correction based on known surface temperature swing.

  • The gas pressure acting on the rings in internal combustion engine influences the friction, wear and HC emission. In order to understand their characteristics, it is necessary to measure the interring gas pressure during engine operations. In this study, miniature type pressure transducer was developed to measure inter-ring gas pressure. And measurements of cylinder and inter-ring gas pressure were made on a gasoline engine running at full and part load conditions. Finally the characteristics of inter-ring gas pressure variation during engine operation were obtained form analysis of measured date.

An Evaporative System Monitoring Method Using a Virtual HC Sensor (가상 HC 센서를 이용한 Evaporative System Monitoring 방법에 대한 연구)

  • This paper presents a new evaporative system monitoring method using a virtual HC sensor for an automotive on-board diagnosis. A development was made at providing mathematical expressions from the lambda control information to estimate the HC mass flow purged into the intake manifold from the canister for implementing a virtual HC sensor. The change of the lambda averagevalue reflected the influence of the additional fuel from purging results the sensor estimation of the purged HC amount. Based on this virtual HC sensor, a new evaporative system monitoring method was proposed comparing the amount of purged HC amount with the amount of the HC gas evaporated from the fuel tank and absorbed into the canister. Finally, the method was validated with a simulation using the data logged from the retail car.

  • To understand the signal fluctuation of a wide-range oxygen sensor installed at the exhaust confluence point, when a misfiring is triggered in a cylinder, the steady state and the transient response characteristics of the sensor to the flow of the misfired gas were investigated quantitatively. It was recognized that the steady state output voltage of the sensor increased higher when it contacted the misfired gas even though the fueling condition was the same as the normal combustion case and this characteristic enabled the application of the wide-range oxygen sensor for the misfire detection. The transient response was compared at different engine speeds and it was found that the response speed increased with the engine speed. The signal fluctuation was also estimated quantitatively, using these steady state and transient response of the sensor, and the estimated signal showed satisfactory correlation with the measurements.
