An Integrative Literature Review on Male Nurses' Self-Image and Influencing Factors (남자간호사의 자기 이미지와 영향요인에 대한 통합적 문헌고찰)

  • The purpose of the study was to describe male nursing image and to identify factors influencing the image. We performed an integrative review for a total of 12 studies published between 2009 and 2019. We derived four themes of male nurses' self-image: 1) just a nurse, 2) job opportunity, 3) identity ambiguity, and 4) role limitation. The factors influencing male nurses' self-image were derived from three themes, specifically 1) nursing competency, 2) social gender stereotypes, and 3) absence of male nurse role models. We suggested the need to develop various strategies to enhance male nurses' self-image. Further studies should investigate the public image of male nurses to improve their social role and the perception of them.

The Structural Relationship among Physical Self-Efficacy, Depression and Ego Integrity (여가스포츠 참여노인의 신체적 자기효능감, 우울감 및 자아통합감의 구조적 관계)

  • The objective of this study is to examine the structural relations between physical self-efficacy, depression, and ego-integrity among the elderly (60 years and older) currently participating in leisure sports. In addition, since the variables affecting ego integrity are presented in a multidimensional manner, it is very important to examine the cause and effect of the variables from an integrated perspective. To achieve this objective, 427 senior citizens attending the leisure sports program of a seniors center were assigned as the research subjects. For the structural equation modeling performed in the study, confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis were conducted for each variable, and direct, indirect, and total effects were estimated. The model fit is based on TLI, CFI, and RMSEA, and both the fit of the measurement model and the fit of the research model satisfy the criterion. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, in the results of verifying the validity and reliability of the questionnaire, all the variables of physical self-efficacy, depression, and ego-integrity were suitable. Second, the perceived physical ability had positive effects on depression, current life satisfaction, wise life, and attitude toward life, whereas the physical self-expression confidence had positive effects on current life satisfaction and attitude toward life, but negative effects on acceptance of the past life. Lastly, depression had negative effects on current life satisfaction. The results showed that the elderly identified the integrated relationship of physical self - efficacy, depression, and self-integration.

Effects of Fall Prevention Educational Program for Nurses in Comprehensive Nursing Care Units (간호⋅간병통합서비스병동 간호사를 위한 낙상예방교육프로그램 효과)

  • This study was to examine the effects of fall prevention educational program on the related knowledge, attitude, and self-efficacy of nurses working in Comprehensive Nursing Care Unit, general hospital. A quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design was used, Participants included a total of 40 nurses as the subjects (Intervention: n=20, Control: n=20) working in Comprehensive Nursing Care Unit, general hospital, Seoul. Data were collected form March through May, 2017. Data were analyzed by using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Intervention group showed significant higher knowledge (F=189.03, p<.001), attitude (F=761.74, p=.003), and self-efficacy (F=188.50, p=.002) scores than them of control group. The fall prevention educational program was an effective intervention for improving the related knowledge, attitude, and self-efficacy of nurses working in Comprehensive Nursing Care Units, general hospital. Therefore, the results show the necessity of developing and applying the systemic nursing intervention to improve preventive behavior on falls.

A Study on the Development and Application of Inclusive Dental Hygiene Practice Model (통합 치위생 실습모형 개발 및 적용에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an inclusive dental hygiene practice model in an effort to stir up the self-directed learning of learners to boost their problem-solving skills and ability of providing inclusive personal oral health care in a systematic and efficient manner. The subjects in this study were 41 dental hygiene students who were in their second year in C college located in South Jeolla Province as of 2009. An inclusive dental hygiene practice was implemented during a 15-week period of time from August 31 to December 7, 2009, and a self-administered survey was conducted before and after that by using the same questionnaires. Whether there were any differences between before and after the application of the inclusive dental hygiene practice model was checked, and there was improvement in all the learning motivation, self-directed learning capabilities and satisfaction level. Concerning the relationship of academic standing to changes in learning motivation, self-directed learning capabilities and satisfaction level, the inclusive dental hygiene practice model brought more favorable changes to the students in the lower tiers. The inclusive dental hygiene model should be applied to not only practical courses but theoretical ones so that learners could make progress both in theory and practice, and evaluation tools geared toward assessing their academic achievement and practical abilities should be developed.

The Effect of Education Integrating Virtual Reality Simulation Training and Outside School Clinical Practice for Nursing Students (간호대학생의 가상 현실 시뮬레이션 교육과 교외 임상실습을 통합한 교육의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the differences in self-efficacy, clinical performance ability, and critical thinking disposition after applying education integrated educational virtual reality simulation to training and outside school clinical practice to nursing college students and to provide them as basic data for effective practical education. This study was conducted from June 8 to July 3, 2020, and enrolled in the 3rd year of university in G city, and 30 subjects who did not receive virtual reality simulation training or outside school clinical training at all. Data were analyzed by Paired t-test. As a result of the study, the result of pretest and posttest to each group showed statistically significant improvements in self-efficacy, clinical performance ability, and critical thinking disposition. As a results of the study, education integrating virtual reality simulation training and clinical practice for nursing students to improves clinical performance ability, improves critical thinking, and self-efficacy, so it is thought that various virtual reality simulation training must be suitable for clinical situations before practice is necessary.

The Effect of Climbing Exercise Program on Self-efficacy for the College Students (클라이밍 운동프로그램이 대학생의 자기효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of climbing exercise program on the spinal alignment and balance ability of students in 20's. The subjects of this study were 30 university students. Experimental group was performed climbing program combined with upper and lower extremity pattern for three times per week, during six weeks. A Self-efficacy questionnaire was used assess the self-confidence, individdual confidence, or belifes in specific tasks. The results of comparison of variations in each group showed that there was a significant difference in the training group(p<0.05). Climbing exercise program combined with upper and lower extremity pattern is effective for improvement of the self-efficay. So, these study results will be useful as reference date for improvement of the self-efficay.

Development of Teaching Strategy Using Inter-Disciplinary Analogy to Enhance Students' Creative Problem Solving Skills and Examination of Its Effectiveness (II) (학문 통합적 비유를 활용한 창의적 문제 해결력 지향 대학교 화학 실험 수업 전략의 개발 및 효과 (제II보))

  • The purposes of this study were to develop teaching strategy enhancing creative problem solving skills and to examine the instructional influences on studints' creative thinking skills, critical thinking skills, creative personality and academic self-regulation. In this study, a model using inter-disciplinary analogies(PDCA model) was designed and applied to the existing 'Teaching model for the enhancement of the creative problem solving skills'. And it was implemented to preservice science teachers for the one semester. Results indicated that the experimental group presented statistically meaningful improvement in creative thinking skills, especially in the originality of identifying a problem, making hypothesis, and controlling variables (p<.05). In addition, the strategy contributed to improving critical thinking skills, especially in inquiry process of recognizing problems, making hypothesis, interpreting and transforming of data (p<.05). This strategy also helped students' academic self-regulation (p<.05). But there was no significant improvement in creative personality(p<.05).

A Study on the Development of Sensory Integration Intervention Competency Model for Occupational Therapist (감각통합중재를 위한 작업치료사 역량모델 개발 연구)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to draw up sensory integration intervention competency model for occupational therapist and was to confirm a competency model through validation. Methods : We conducted literature review, expert opening survey, and expert focus meeting to draw up draft competency model. And then, we carried out Delphi survey twice and consulted an expert to confirm the sensory integration intervention competency model for occupational therapist. Results : The sensory integration intervention competency model for occupational therapist developed in this study was structured into 4 competency cluster, 15 competency, 60 competency indicators. 4 competency clusters had expertise, professionalism, interpersonal skills, and personal characteristics. Conclusion : The competency model revealed in this study can be used as basic critical data to foster development of competency based curriculum of Korean Academy of Sensory Integration (KASI).
