  • We predict the magnetization curves with strains in thin films. It is possible to predict the magretoelastic ani¬sotropy erergy which generates the changes of the M-H curves in thin films. We show the prediction of M-H curves in case of isotropic films such as polycrystalline am amorphous thin films as well as single crystal cubic films.

  • Soft magnetic composite (SMC) materials based on powder metallurgy have a number of advantages over the conventional electrical steel sheets commonly used in electric machines. Thus, technologies related to these materials have shown significant improvement in recent years. In general, SMCs are magnetically isotropic owing to the shape of the powder, which makes them suitable for the construction of electric machines with three-dimensional flux and complex structures. However, the materials with isotropic magnetic properties (such as SMCs) have complex vector hysteresis; thus, it is very difficult to predict accurate loss properties. Therefore, we manufactured ring-type specimens of electrical steel sheets and SMC, which analyzed their magnetic properties according to the specimen size, and performed the electromagnetic field analysis of a high-speed permanent magnet (PM) motor driven at 800 Hz or higher using the measured magnetic information to compare the core loss of the motor. The reliability of this paper has been verified by measuring the efficiency after manufacturing the motor.

  • Magnetic and physical properties of sintered bodies prepare from waste sintered barium hexaferrite magnets which were come from fabrication process of isotropic permanent magnets were investigated. The properties of the sintered bodies were characterized by XRD, XRF, SEM, and BH curve tracer. After the waste permanent magnets were milled and granulated, the granules of the waste permanent magnet powders and the commercial granules were mixed with various proportions, pressed, and sintered. although the magnetic properties were decreased gradually with the content of waste magnet powder, the magnetic characteristics of the sintered magnets at $1150~1200^{\circ}C$ were comparable to those required for isotropic permanent magnets.

  • Tetragonal 구조를 갖는 정량적 Nd$_2$/Fe$_{14}$B (~Nd$_{12}$Fe$_{82}$B$_{6}$) 화합물에서의 Nd 양보다 적은 양의 Nd를 함유하는 Nd-Fe-B 합금에서는, 일반적으로 입자크기가 큰 연자성 $\alpha$-Fe가 과다하게 존재하면서 외부에서 가해주는 자장에 대해 강자성 Nd$_2$/Fe$_{14}$B와 별개의 자기적 거동을 보여주기 때문에, 보자력이 아주 적어 실용성이 없다. 그러나 이러한 합금을 급랭응고하여 미세 결정화하거나, 비정질화한 후 적절히 열처리 해주면 a-Fe와 Nd$_2$/Fe$_{14}$B 입자가 나노화하면서 이들 사이에 상호교환작용이 일어나 등방성 상태에서도 M$_{s}$ /2 보다 큰 잔류자화와 함께 적절한 크기의 보자력도 얻을 수 있다.   • SrO-5.7Fe$_{2}$O$_{3}$의 Magnetoplumbite형 Sr페라이트에 첨가제 SiO$_{2}$, H$_{3}$BO$_{3}$CaCO$_{3}$, SrCO$_{3}$을 0.1-0.1wt%로 변화시켜 만든 등방성과 이방성의 자기이력곡선, 밀도, 감자곡선, 고유보자력 및 미세구조특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 위 첨가제는 페라이트 생성 및 특성개선에 효과적이었도 특히 등방성에서의 입도크기를 3.5.mu.m에서 1.7.mu.m로 하였을때 소결온도가 40.deg.C 낮은 1220.deg.C에서 잔류자속밀도가 2300G, 보자력이 1950Oe, 밀도가 4.51g/Cm$^{3}$, 교유보자력이 3500Oe로 각각 증가하였다. 이방성은 등방성 보다 원등히 우수하였고 최대에너지적 (BH)$_{max}$이 소결온도가 10.deg.C 낮은 1210.deg.C에서 1.13으로 부터 3.3MGOe로 증가하였다. 이값은 이론치의 61%에 도달하고 있다.

A Study on the Isotropic Nd$_2$Fe$_{14}$B/Epoxy Bonded Magnets with High Characteristics (고특성 등방성 Nd$_2$Fe$_{14}$B/에폭시 본드자석의 연구)

  • This study was investigated to fabricate the isotropic $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$/epoxy bonded magnets with high characteristics paroduced by compression molding. The magnetic characteristics of the bonded magnets were directly proportional to the density of the magnets and were enhanced by using raw $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ magnetic powders, having the mean particle size of $200{\mu} m$.without additional milling process. The high characteristics of the bonded magnets were achieved at the following conditions: epoxy resin of 2.0 wt%, silane coupling agent of 0.8 wt%, curing agent of 0.7 wt% on the base of magnetic powders, and curing condition of $150^{\circ}C$/3 hrs. The bonded magnets at the optimum conditions indicated the high characteristics such as the density of 6.1 g/㎤, the remanent flux density of 7.1 kG, the maximum energy product of 9.7 MGOe, and the compressive strength of 17 kg/$mm^2$.

  • 확산텐서영상(Diffusion Tensor Imaging)의 개념은 1980년대 중반 확산강조영상(Diffusion Weighted Imaging)의 개념이 도입되면서 거의 동시에 도입되었지만 MR 장비의 기계적 한계등으로 인해 최근에야 임상적으로 사용되기 시작했다. 확산텐서영상(DTI)과 확산강조영상(DWI)의 방법론적인 차이점은 단순히 확산강조영상의 경우 세 개의 다른방향 (X-, Y-, Z-축)으로 확산측정용 경사자장을 가하는 반면 확산텐서영상의 경우 이보다 많은 방향 (최소한 6 방향)으로 확산측정용 경사자장을 가한다는 점이다. 이러한 차이로부터 금방 알 수 있는 점은 확산강조영상은 확산텐서영상의 일부라는 점이다. 즉, 확산텐서영상의 경우 더 많은 방향으로 확산측정용 경사자장을 가했으므로 더 많은 정보를 획득할 수 있고 이중 세 개의 방향 (주로 X,Y,Z)에 대한 정보만을 이용하게 되면 확산강조영상이다. 이러한 이유로 확산텐서영상을 획득하면 확산강조영상에서 얻게 되는 방향별 확산강조영상, 등방성(isotropic) 확산강조영상, ADC (Apparent Diffusion Coefficient) map등도 기본적으로 얻게 되므로 추가로 확산강조영상을 획득할 필요가 없다. 본 강의에서는 이러한 확산(텐서)영상의 물리적 원리를 복잡한 수학적 설명보다는 개념 위주로 설명해 보고자 한다.

  • Self vulcanizable blend system for magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) has been studied by dispersing magneto responsible particle (MRP) on elastomeric matrix. Chloroprene rubber was modified with maleic anhydride (MAH) using heat and pressure which is called dynamic maleation process. The optimum graft ratio of MAH was found at 10 phr contents and reaction temperature of $100^{\circ}C$. This could be confirmed by FT-IR analysis. Epoxided natural rubber (ENR) was blended with modified CR-g-MAH for self vulcanization. The optimum amounts of ENR was 30 wt% in terms of scorch time and curing rate. MRE was manufactured by electromagnetic equipment and orientation of MRE was confirmed by SEM. Finally, it was found that the tensile strength of anisotropic-MRE was higher than that of isotropic-MRE and the hardness was reverse.

Hack's Law and the Geometric Properties of Catchment Plan-form (Hack의 법칙과 집수평면의 기하학적 특성)

  • This study makes a systematic approach to Hack's law considering self-affinity and self-similarity of natural basins as well as the elongation of corresponding catchment-plan forms. Catchment-plan forms extracted from DEM appear to be the population come from the interactions of 2 hypotheses on Hack's law. It is judged that the elongation measures based on inertia moments are more intuitive than the ones based on main channel lengths. The exponent of Hack's law, h, seems to be similar to the result of Gray's study (1961). However Hurst exponent, H, being 0.96 imply that catchment-plan forms considered in this study have isotropic increasing properties with scale. From this point of view it is inferred that the shapes of the basins in this study would be more affected from self-similarity of main channel lengths than self-affinity of catchment-plan forms.

  • The effect of a particle's spin is investigated numerically by taking into account the effect of lift forces originating due to difference between the rotations of a particle and of a fluid, such as the Saffman and Magnus lift forces. These lift forces have been ignored in many previous studies on particle-laden turbulence. The trajectory of the particles can be changed by the lift forces, resulting in a significant modification of the stochastic characteristics of heavy particles. Probability density functions and autocorrelations are evaluated from the velocity of solid particle, acceleration of solid particles, and acceleration of fluid at the position of solid particle. Changes in velocity statistics are negligible but statistics related with acceleration are affected by the rotation of particle. When a laden particle encounters coherent structures during its motion, the particle's rotation might significantly affects the motion due to intermittently large fluid acceleration near the coherent structures.
