Characterization of Polymer Blends of Poly(ether sulfone)/Sulfonated Poly(ether ether ketone) for DMFC (직접메탄올 연료전지용 Poly(ether sulfone)/Sulfonated Poly(ether ether ketone) 블렌드 막의 특성 연구)

  • Sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) was blended with poly(ether sulfone) (PES) at various compositions. To investigate the possibility of using the blend membranes as polymer electrolyte membranes for direct methanol fuel cell, the blend membranes were characterized in terms of methanol permeability, proton conductivity, ion exchange capacity, and water content. Both proton conductivity and methanol permeability of SPEEK were relatively high. As the amount of PES increased, methanol permeability decreased more rapidly compared to proton conductivity. The experimental results indicated that the blend membrane with 40 wt% PES was the best choice in terms of the ratio of proton conductivity to methanol permeability.

Effects of Dietary Fibers on Cholesterol Metabolism in Cholesterol-Fed Rats (콜레스테롤 투여 흰쥐에 있어서 식이섬유가 콜레스테롤 대사에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to determine the effects of sodium alginate and cellulose on the cholesterol metabolism in cholesterol-fed rats. Thirty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to three dietary treatments. Rats were fed, ad libitum, diets containing 10% dietary fibers as sodium alginate, cellulose or fiber-free with 1% cholesterol for 4 weeks. The results obtained were as follows: the feeding of sodium alginate with 1% cholesterol induced a significant decrease in plasma cholesterol and TG. The feeding of sodium alginate significantly decreased hepatic total lipids and TG levels, whereas the feeding of sodium alginate significantly increased hepatic HMG-CoA reductase activity. The feeding of sodium alginate and cellulose significantly increased fecal cholesterol and bile acid excretion. The excretion of TG in sodium alginate group, however, was two-fold and four-fold increased compared to cellulose and fiber-free group, respectively. As a result of this study, the ingestion of sodium alginate decreased plasma cholesterol and TG concentrations and liver TG concentration. This may be explained by the facts that fecal cholesterol, bile acid and TG level were increased significantly in sodium alginate group. The increased hepatic HMG-CoA reductase activity by sodium alginate feeding appears to be corresponded to whole-body cholesterol homeostasis.

  • 최근 딥러닝이 상식 정보를 추론하지 못하거나, 해석 불가능하다는 한계점을 보완하기 위해 지식 그래프를 기반으로 자연어 텍스트를 생성하는 연구가 중요하게 수행되고 있다. 그러나 이를 위해서 대량의 지식 그래프와 이에 대응되는 문장쌍이 요구되는데, 이를 구축하는 데는 시간과 비용이 많이 소요되는 한계점이 존재한다. 또한 하나의 그래프에 다수의 문장을 생성할 수 있기에 구축자 별로 품질 차이가 발생하게 되고, 데이터 균등성에 문제가 발생하게 된다. 이에 본 논문은 공개된 지식 그래프인 디비피디아를 활용하여 전문가의 도움 없이 자동으로 데이터를 쉽고 빠르게 구축하는 방법론을 제안한다. 이를 기반으로 KoBART와 mBART, mT5와 같은 한국어를 포함한 대용량 언어모델을 활용하여 문장 생성 실험을 진행하였다. 실험 결과 mBART를 활용하여 미세 조정 학습을 진행한 모델이 좋은 성능을 보였고, 자연스러운 문장을 생성하는데 효과적임을 확인하였다.

  • $\underline{Purpose}$: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of fentanyl-TTS in the management of radiotherapy induced acute pain and cancer pain treated with radiotherapy. $\underline{Materials\;and\;Methods}$: Our study was open labelled prospective phase IV multi-center study. the study population included patients with more 4 numeric rating scale(NRS) score pain although managed with other analgesics or more than 6 NRS score pain without analgesics. Patients divided into two groups; patients with radiotherapy induced pain (Group A) and patients with cancer pain treated with radiotherapy (Group B). All patients received 25 ug/hr of fentanyl transdermal patch. Primary end point was pain relief; second end points were change in patient quality of life, a degree of satisfaction for patients and clinician, side effects. $\underline{Results}$: Between March 2005 and June 2005, 312 patients from 26 participating institutes were registered, but 249 patients completed this study. Total number of patients in each group was 185 in Group A, 64 in Group B. Mean age was 60 years and male to female ratio was 76:24. Severe pain NRS score at 2 weeks after the application of fentanyl was decreased from 7.03 to 4.01, p=0.003. There was a significant improvement in insomnia, social functioning, and quality of life. A degree of satisfaction for patients and clinician was very high. The most common reasons of patients' satisfactions was good pain control. Ninety six patients reported side effect. Nausea was the most common side effect. There was no serious side effect. $\underline{Conclusion}$: Fentanyl-TTS was effective in both relieving pain with good tolerability and improving the quality of life for patients with radiotherapy induced acute pain and cancer pain treated with radiotherapy. The satisfaction of the patients and doctors was good. There was no major side effect.

The Effects of 8-week Ketone Body Supplementation on Endurance Exercise Performance and Autophagy in the Skeletal Muscle of Mice (8주 케톤체 투여가 마우스 지구성 운동수행능력과 골격근의 자가포식에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 8-week β-hydroxybutyrate (β-HB) administration with and without endurance exercise training on endurance exercise performance and skeletal muscle protein synthesis and degradation using a mouse model. Forty-eight male wild-type ICR mice (8 weeks old) were randomly divided into four groups: sedentary control (Sed+Con), (Sed+Con), sedentary β-HB (Sed+β-HB), exercise control (Exe+Con), and exercise β-HB (Exe+β-HB). β-HB was dissolved in PBS (150 mg/ml) and injected subcutaneously daily (250 mg/kg) for 8 weeks. Mice performed 5 days/week of a 20 min treadmill running exercise for 8 weeks. The running exercise was carried out at a speed of 10 m/min at a 10° incline for 5 min, and then the speed was increased by 1 m/min for every 1 min of the remaining 15 min. Following 8 weeks of treatments, visceral fat mass and skeletal muscle mass, blood parameters, and the markers for autophagy and protein synthesis were analyzed. The data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA (p<0.05) using the SPSS 21 program. Eight weeks of Exe+β-HB treatment significantly lowered blood lactate levels compared with the other three groups (Sed+Con, Sed+β-HB, and Exe+β-HB) Exe+β-HB) (p<0.05). Eight weeks of Exe+β-HB significantly increased maximal running time (time to exhaustion) compared with the Sed+Con and Exe+Con groups (p<0.05). Eight weeks of β-HB administration significantly decreased autophagy flux and autophagy-related proteins in the skeletal muscle of mice (p<0.05). Conversely, the combined treatment of β-HB and endurance exercise training increased protein synthesis (mTOR signaling and translation) (p<0.05). The 8-week β-HB treatment and endurance exercise training had synergistic effects on the increase in endurance performance, increase in protein synthesis, and decrease in protein degradation in the skeletal muscle of mice.

그래핀 정공 주입층을 이용한 고분자 유기발광소자에서의 정공 주입 능력 향상에 관한 연구

  • 유기발광소자는 고휘도, 넓은 시야각, 빠른 응답속도, 높은 색재현성, 좋은 유연성의 소자특성 때문에 디스플레이 제품에 많이 응용되고 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 최근에 저소비전력, 고휘도, 소형화 및 장수명의 장점을 가진 유기발광소자의 상용화가 진행되면서 차세대 디스플레이소자로서 관심을 끌게 되었다. 고분자 유기발광소자는 저분자 유기발광소자에 비해 용액 공정법으로 박막을 형성할 수 있어 제조 비용이 적게 들며 대면적 디스플레이를 제작하는데 유리하기 때문에 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 고분자 유기발광소자에서 저전력 소자를 위한 저전압 구동 및 전력 효율을 향상시키기 위한 연구는 대단히 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 고분자 유기발광소자의 구동 전압을 낮추기 위해서 그래핀 정공 주입층을 삽입한 고분자 유기발광소자를 화학적 진공 증착법과 용액 공정을 사용하여 제작하였다. 그래핀 정공 주입층을 삽입한 고분자 유기발광소자는 Indium-tin-oxide(ITO) 투명 전극/그래핀 정공주입층/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS)/poly[2-methoxy, 5-(2'-ethyl-hexyloxy)-p-phenylenevinylene] (MEH-PPV) 층/lithium quinolate (Liq)/aluminium (Al) 전극의 구조를 가진다. 그래핀 정공주입층을 삽입한 고분자 유기발광소자에서 향상된 정공 주입능력을 통해 구동전압을 낮아지는 현상을 분석하기 위해서 전기적 및 광학적 특성을 조사하였다. 그래핀 정공주입층의 광학적 특성을 분석하기 위해서 빛의 투과도 측정을 한 결과 90% 이상의 값을 얻었다. 그래핀 정공 주입층이 소자에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 ITO/PEDOT:PSS소자와 ITO/그래핀 층/PEDOT:PSS 소자를 각각 제작하여 원자힘 현미경 측정을 하였다. 그래핀박막층을 삽입할 경우, 그래핀박막층을 삽입하지 않았을 때보다 표면 거칠기가 감소하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 산성을 띠는 PEDOT:PSS 용액이 ITO 투명 전극을 손상시키는 것을 방지하고, 표면 거칠기를 감소시켜 누설 전류를 낮출 수 있다는 사실을 보여준다. 또한, 그래핀 박막은 높은 전기 전도도를 가지기 때문에 그래핀 정공주입층을 삽입하였을 때, 높은 전류 밀도 및 발광 휘도와 더 낮은 구동 전압을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 ITO와 PEDOT:PSS의 계면에서의 전공의 주입 능력을 그래핀박막층이 향상시켜 저전압, 고효율 소자를 제작할 수 있다는 것을 보여준다.

3-Dimensional Coating Polymer Microneedles for Economical and Efficient Transdermal Drug Delivery (경제적이고 효과적인 경피 약물전달을 위한 3차원 구조의 코팅 고분자 마이크로니들)

  • Polymer microneedles can be fabricated by a micromolding method, an easy and cost-effective method. However, it is not easy to achieve uniform coating with an aqueous coating solution due to hydrophobic surface of polymer microneedles. 3-Dimensional coating polymer microneedles could deliver more than twice as much dose as in-plane metal microneedles by increasing coating area and the number of microneedles per unit area. A uniform coating was not obtained by addition of coating additives in the coating solution. The satisfied coating was achieved by treatment of surface of polymer microneedle with metal deposition and UV/ozone, and UV/ozone treatment was an ultimate surface treatment method based on biological safety. Calcein coating polymer microneedles were prepared by using UV/ozone treatment and followed dip-coating, and they delivered calcein in porcine skin successfully after 15 min of insertion.

Effect of Ketanserin and Positive End Expiratory Pressure Ventilation on Hemodynamics and Gas Exchange in Experimental Acute Pulmonary Embolism (실험적 급성 폐동맥색전증에서 Ketanserin과 Positive End Expiratory Pressure Ventilation이 혈류역학 및 환기에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: In acute pulmonary embolism it has been postulated that the constriction of bronchi and pulmonary artery secondary to neurohumoral response plays an important role in cardiopulmonary dysfunction in addition to the mechanical obstruction of pulmonary artery. Serotonin is considered as the most important mediator. Positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP) stimulates $PGI_2$ secretion from the vascular endothelium, but its role in acute pulmonary embolism is still in controversy. Methods: To study the cardiopulmonary effect and therapeutic role of Ketanserin, selective antagonist of 5-HT2 receptor, and PEEP in acute pulmonary embolism experimental acute pulmonary embolism was induced in dogs with autologous blood clot. The experimental animals were divided into 3 groups, that is control group, Ketanserin injection group and PEEP application group. Results: Thirty minutes after embolization, mean pulmonary arterial pressure and pulmonary vascular resistance increased and cardiac output decreased. $PaO_2,\;P\bar{v}O_2$ and oxygen transport decreased and physiological shunt and $PaCO_2$ increased. After injection of Ketanserin, comparing with control group, mean pulmonary arterial pressure, pulmonary vascular resistance and physiological shunt decreased, while cardiac output, $PaO_2$ and oxygen transport increased. All these changes sustained till 4 hours after embolization. After PEEP application pulmonary vascular resistance, $PaO_2$ and $PaCO_2$ increased, while physiological shunt, cardiac output and oxygen transport decreased. After discontinuation of PEEP, mean pulmonary arterial pressure and pulmonary vascular resistance decreased and were lower than control group, while $PaO_2$ and cardiac output increased and higher than control group. $PaCO_2$ decreased but showed no significant difference comparing with control group. Conclusion: It can be concluded that Ketanserin is effective for the treatment of acute pulmonary embolism. With PEEP hemodynamic status deteriorated, but improved better than control group after discontinuation of PEEP. Thus PEEP may be applied carefully for short period in acute pulmonary embolism if the hemodynamic status is tolerable.

The Factors that Affect the Reporting Behavior of Mandated Reporter (아동학대 신고의무자들의 아동학대에 대한 인식과 신고행동에 영향을 주는 요인에 대한 연구)

  • This is the study to find out the differences between the mandated reporters who reported child abuse and who did not report and to know which factors affect the reporting behavior The researcher sent questioners to 595 doctors, teachers, nurses and social workers in 3 different cities as a sample. 477 people responded to questioner and only 116 people who said that they have found out abused child during the last year were used for analysis of this research. Among 116 people, only 35.4% reported child abuse. There were significant differences between two groups, groups that reported child abuse and groups that did not report, in attitude about Abuse, the experience of child abuse training and knowledge about abuse. However, the result of Logistic regression showed that reporting behavior are significantly affected by occupation, experience of child abuse training and severity of abuse.

Development of Biodegradable Polymeric Membrane for Interventional Procedure: Preliminary Study (인터벤션 시술을 위한 생분해성 고분자막의 개발 : 예비연구)

  • This study was to evaluate clinical feasibility of biodegradable polymeric membrane for interventional procedure in preliminary study. Bio-degradable polymetric membrane was produced into a solution by mixing hyaluronic acid powder with NaOH solution in a heating mantle. Three different concentrations of contrast media (10, 20, and 30 vol%) were added to the produced soluble powder, and vertical agitation was performed for 12 hours at a speed of 100 to 200 rpm at a room temperature. It was freeze dried for 24 hours at a temperature $80^{\circ}C$. Pressure on the freeze dried sample was exerted by a hydraulic press in order to form the freeze dried sample into a membrane. The membrane produced with varying contrast medium concentration was visually examined by a scanning electron microscope and radiographically inspected. Under the visual examination, the higher the concentration of contrast medium, the rougher the surface. Radiographic transparency was similar under all conditions of fluoroscopic radiography, simple radiography, and serial radiography. In conclusion, this preliminary study verified that bio-degradable membrane produced with hyaluronic acid was a material with clinical usability.
