This study will be used as basic data to hold clinical training effective by researching and analyzing frequency, satisfaction and stress for the clinical practice of dental hygiene course students. The survey was undergone from Feb. 1, 2014 to Mar. 31 for 219 dental hygiene course juniors who had experienced clinical training in 3 year colleges located in Daejeon and Chungcheong Province. From the study, general and university hospital holds the highest satisfaction in clinical practice and dental offices in acquiring skills. Also, a significant difference is shown between the frequency and satisfaction according to clinical training sheets. The highest degree of stress is shown in dental offices for 'toothbrushing training and dental health education' and in general and university hospital for 'patient counselling'. Therefore, consideration should be made to establish the direction of education, standard criteria and evaluation method for student clinical training to raise its effectiveness.
Workers' oral health is important to guarantee workers' right of health and increase productivity. The aim of this study was to investigate recognition and satisfaction of national oral examination for workers in Incheon and Daejeon. Three hundred seventy-nine workers who were selected by convenience cluster sampling answered the questionnaire about experience, recognition and satisfaction of national health examination and oral examination by self recording type. A total of 76.0 percent of the subjects had national health examination, and 51.7% had national oral examination. A total of 64.9 percent had experienced notice about national health examination from the company, and 28.2% about national oral examination. The subjects had high positive score about intention of treatment, dental scaling, and change of toothbrushing method depending on oral examination, need of national health and oral examination, and usefulness to one's health through national health and oral examination. Office workers, regular workers, and the workers with monthly income more than 2 million won had more notice about national health and oral examination compared with sales and production workers, contract workers and the workers with monthly income less than 2 million won. We suggest institutional management of the notice about national oral examination be needed, especially for economically poor, or contract workers to increase the ratio to have national oral examination.
The purpose of this study is to compare the amount of dentifrice used in general by the subjects with the amount of dentifrice both by Pea-size and by sideways application(transverse technique) after the subjects of dental hygiene students applied dentifrice on the toothbrushes for kids. The amount of dentifrice was calculated by the weight differences between toothbrush itself and toothbrush with dentifrice on it after toothbrushes for children were allotted to subjects. For the first measurement, the subjects were told to apply out the amount of dentifrice considered proper for children when they brush their teeth. For the second one, they were told to apply out the amount of Pea-size dentifrice recommended to children. Finally, the subjects had to applied dentifrice out on their toothbrush in the sideways or transverse technique after they were taught the way to applied dentifrice out. In this experiment, the average amount of dentifrice per usage when he or she brush his or her teeth as usual was 0.40 g, and the average amount of dentifrice applied to Pea-size application was 0.43 g, and the average amount of dentifrice applied to Transverse technique application was 0.26 g. Transverse technique not only can be easy to show and teach the way to both children and their parents, but also can be recommendable to children because it can minimize fluoride intake carelessly.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of oral health behavior by oral health belief from the students in the dental hygienics department who take charge of oral health office, and therefore to lead a clear oral health care, to complete desirable oral health belief, and finally to utilize them for oral health field. The survey was conducted using structured self-administered questionnaires based on oral health belief model targeting 163 students in the dental hygienics department of one of the college in Seoul, and collected data were statistically analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 program. As a result of analysis to determine that the oral health belief significantly affects on the oral heal behavior, the personal variables such as age, economic status and occupation, and the seriousness for the oral health belief were indicated to be significant variables(p<0.05), and as a result of analysis that effects on the number of the oral health behavior, the susceptibility and the seriousness were indicated to be significant variables for oral health belief(P<0.05). As a conclusion, oral health belief was identified as a factor of salience through understanding that oral health belief of the students in the dental hygienics department effects on oral health behavior based on an oral health belief model, and it can be concluded that the necessity of oral health belief investigation should be discussed as a crucial issue to provide a more effective oral health promotion plan.
The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of oral health promotion program in a group of 9~18-year-old children and adolescents living in four orphanages in Dong-gu, Daejeon. The program was based on oral disease prevention program including oral health education, fluoride application and scaling every six months. Oral health status of total 109 orphans was examined by one dentists who were trained in 2010 Korean National Oral Health Survey. Dental caries index, community periodontal index and modified patient hygiene performance index (M-PHP) were checked using dental unit chair. Child oral health impact profile (COHIP) and subjective oral health recognition survey were carried out. Compared with data of 2010 national sample, the mean of decayed, missing and filled teeth showed no difference between the subjects and test values, but the means of decayed teeth, decayed surface, toothbrushing frequency of the subjects showed to become worse with advancing years in spite of oral health promotion program. COHIP, subjective oral health status showed lower than test values, too. In M-PHP and Calculus index, the subjects showed better by periodic oral health education and scaling. We suggest that oral health promotion program for orphans include oral disease treatment program as well as preventive program to improve oral health of orphans efficiently. And, oral health promotion program has to be connected with psychological support for improving quality of life of orphans.
For a month of September, 2004, a questionnaire regarding dental hygiene was distributed to 165 workers of Ulsan area. A total of 125 questionnaire were analyzed: 102 collected of the distributed 165 pieces, and 23 questionnaires reported by patients of a dental clinic in Dong-gu, Woolsan. The result is as follows; (1) Labor workers of Ulsan have thought that they are in good dental health, 44.1% of respondents, following by those who they believe they are in moderate health and those who they think are in poor condition. 89.0% of total workers have experienced dental treatment. (2) Regarding the location of dental treatment, 85.0% of respondents have pointed out dental hospitals and clinics, while 3.9% have indicated that they had treatment from unlicensed dentists. Specifically, workers in their 40s over have ever experienced dental treatment by unlicensed dentists. Those who think they are in poor dental condition have tended to have more dental treatment by unlicensed dentists. (3) Regarding the reason that they put off the treatment, 59.1% of respondents have indicated that they have no time to have the treatment, following by economic burden and the lack of confidence in dentists. When they have tooth aches or the gum ache, 60% of respondents have suggested that they endure the ache or take a medicine to alleviate the pain, showing a lower understanding of early dental treatment. (4) Regarding the reason why they are unwilling to go to dentists, respondents have revealed the anxiety against pain, 50.4%, following by the difficulty of scheduling and unsatisfied services. (5) 47.2% of respondents have brushed their teeth 3 times everyday, following by those who have done it 2 times a day and those one a day. Regarding how to brush the teeth, most of respondents have brushed their teeth in the upper, lower, and the both side, 61.4%. The younger respondents and those who think they are in good dental health have tended to brush their teeth up and down. (6) Regarding the cause of the gum disease, 67.7% of respondents have thought that it is caused by poor dental hygiene, following by natural occurrence due to age, hereditary nature, and physical predisposition. (7) 67.7% of respondents have experienced dental scaling, while 32.3% of them have had no experience in it. 53.5% of workers have thought that scaling may not be recommended since they have the teeth scaled periodically once they had dental scaling, a higher rate than 46.5% who think scaling is good for the gum health.
The purpose of this study was to examine the Influence of the experience of Childcare Teacher about oral health education on oral health behaviors. For this, Questionnairs to be self-filled up about experience of oral health education were carried out to 267 childcare teachers who are working in nurseries in Geongnam province. The date was analysed using the SPSS 12.0 program. The obtained result were as follows. Among the respondents who are not under stress of oral health. 8.1% respondents had the oral health education and 7.7% others didn't have it. For toothbrushing methods, it was found that 25.3% used manual toothbrushing with experience in dental education(up and down toothbrushing monement) and 35.4% used semi automatic toothbrushing(rotational movement). 37.1% respondents had experiences in oral health education, 69.7% respondents were instructed in the oral health at public health center, and 61.6% respondents were instructed in the oral health a theory(toothbrushing guidance). Among the respondents who answered that oral health education should be necessary, 83.4% of those have already had oral health education where as 73.8% respondents have not had the education. 67.7% of the respondents who want to participate in the oral health education is corresponding to those with experience in dental education, 66.1% respondents with no education feel the necessity of the oral health education.
Objectives : The systematic health education to form the basic healthy lifestyle should be realized from elementary school, so oral health education at elementary school can determine the whole lifetime oral health. The elementary school health teacher's recognition and behavior who in charge of health promotion of students is important. Therefore, the study was conducted to enhance oral health education. Methods : Total 114 people among of 131 from health teacher Gwangju elementary school. Survey system is configured by referring to PRECEDE model. Results : In behavioral diagnosis the proportion of oral Health Education is less than 10%(58.8%), mostly educated in activity time (86.0%), the health teachers educate when it is needed(53.5%). In predisposing diagnosis in the eight areas of health education, the oral health education is ranked as fourth, fifth. Even in the next year project, the oral health education ratio was 21.9 percent. In enabling diagnosing every year the Oral health education training experienced rate is 13.2%, satisfaction rate is 33.3%. In reinforcing diagnosing disability element in the regular education course are the lack of oral health-related information (46.7%), lack of materials needed for education (30.6%), lack of training opportunities (21.4%). Conclusion : In further research, oral health education textbooks, materials and methods should be developed. At the foundation of there developments, the elementary oral health education program should be more fully developed and conducted and also the evaluation of its effectiveness will need.
The aim of this study is understanding the relationship between degree of knowledge and actual condition on oral health care to raise people's attention on oral health care and to develop a oral health care program and respondents are 121 diabetes patients. The conclusion of this study is as follows; 1. In terms of degree of Knowledge, women have better knowledge on dental healthcare than men. People aged between 20 and 50 have relatively good knowledge and the longer patients fight against diabetes the more they know about oral healthcare. 2. In actual oral healthcare condition, only 21.5% of patients use rolling method. Patients who have good knowledge have relatively high frequency of dental treatment. Most patients see dentists for their oral healthcare consultation. 3. All the respondent group hesitate to have dental treatment because of expensive cost. Surprisingly. most patients with good knowledge answers that diabetes has nothing to do with dental disease. 4. In terms of degree of knowledge and having oral healthcare program, diabetes patients who are having programs has better knowledge. 5. Respondent group which has middle level of knowledge in oral healthcare give high marks on oral healthcare but does not show statistical significance.
The purpose of this research was to find out their perception of the dental hygiene and level of its knowledge by estimating status of senior adults' dental health management. First, questionnaires were distributed to the 256 target senior adults aged more than 60, who were going to school for senior adults located in Ulju Country and the survey was conducted by interview directly. The results were as follows; 1. As for tooth brushing method, scrubbing method was used in male and rolling method was used in female and the survey results statistically revealed that rolling method was the most used in aged from 60 to 70(68.1%) and scrubbing method was the most used in aged more than 70(80.4%)[p < 0.001]. 2. As for reason of visiting dental clinic, female respondents accounting for the highest said they visited dental clinic when they feel a pain in the teeth and as for frequence of dental clinic, male respondents visited dental clinic for a once per a year. there was no difference statistically according to age(47.9%). 3. As for the perception of the necessity of dental prosthetic treatment, there was higher positive response in the female than male, in the lower aged groups than higher aged group[p<0.05]. 4. As for the question of whether to use of denture or not now, the survey results was statistically that the higher aged group and male groups were higher used dentures [p < 0.001]. 5. As for maintenance of denture, female respondents said the highest that they keep it in cold water after cleaning(95.5%), there was no difference statistically according to age and educational background [p < 0.001].
