In general, the life and asset casualties that occur due to landslide or slope failure in urban areas are larger than that in rural areas. In order to reduce the casualties, a slope management program is necessary to categorize slopes based on properties and to manage them systematically. The slope management system is the establishment of the data base for the geological and geotechnical factor according to slope stability, and the utilization of the data base to manage slopes. The suitable system must develop to slopes in urban area through the survey, analysis and evaluation process. Based on the above necessity, the slope management program which is applicable to slope management in an urban area has been developed at Hwangryung Mt. in Busan as a target area. The developed slope management program has various functions such as slope ID number of each slope or sub-region of a mountain, making a slope data sheet, analysis and grouping of slope stability, and establishment of a data base. The slope management program is constructed by use of GIS, and the survey, test and analysis data according to all slopes can be input and edited into the program. The program can also be utilized practically by end users due to the convenient input, edition printing, management and operation of slope data. Therefore, the slope management system has been established on the application of the developed program in Busan which is located in slope area. As the system is widely applied to other cities, the slope in urban area can be managed systematically and the slope hazards can be minimized.

The accurate simulation of micro-scale weather phenomena such as fog using the mesoscale meteorological models is a very complex task. Especially, the uncertainty arisen from initial input data of the numerical models has a decisive effect on the accuracy of numerical models. The data assimilation is required to reduce the uncertainty of initial input data. In this study, the limitation of the mesoscale meteorological model was verified by WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) model for a summer fog event around the Nakdong river in Korea. The sensitivity analyses of simulation accuracy from the numerical model were conducted using two different initial and boundary conditions: KLAPS (Korea Local Analysis and Prediction System) and LDAPS (Local Data Assimilation and Prediction System) data. In addition, the improvement of numerical model performance by FDDA (Four-Dimensional Data Assimilation) using the observational data from AWS (Automatic Weather System) was investigated. The result of sensitivity analysis showed that the accuracy of simulated air temperature, dew point temperature, and relative humidity with LDAPS data was higher than those of KLAPS, but the accuracy of the wind speed of LDAPS was lower than that of KLAPS. Significant difference was found in case of relative humidity where RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) for LDAPS and KLAPS was 15.7 and 35.6%, respectively. The RMSE for air temperature, wind speed, and relative humidity was improved by approximately $0.3^{\circ}C$, $0.2m\;s^{-1}$, and 2.2%, respectively after incorporating the FDDA.
Purpose: We developed a computer-aided classifier using artificial neural network (ANN) to discriminate the cerebral metabolic pattern of medial and lateral temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). Materials and Methods: We studied brain F-18-FDG PET images of 113 epilepsy patients sugically and pathologically proven as medial TLE (left 41, right 42) or lateral TLE (left 14, right 16). PET images were spatially transformed onto a standard template and normalized to the mean counts of cortical regions. Asymmetry indices for predefined 17 mirrored regions to hemispheric midline and those for medial and lateral temporal lobes were used as input features for ANN. ANN classifier was composed of 3 independent multi-layered perceptrons (1 for left/right lateralization and 2 for medial/lateral discrimination) and trained to interpret metabolic patterns and produce one of 4 diagnoses (L/R medial TLE or L/R lateral TLE). Randomly selected 8 images from each group were used to train the ANN classifier and remaining 51 images were used as test sets. The accuracy of the diagnosis with ANN was estimated by averaging the agreement rates of independent 50 trials and compared to that of nuclear medicine experts. Results: The accuracy in lateralization was 89% by the human experts and 90% by the ANN classifier Overall accuracy in localization of epileptogenic zones by the ANN classifier was 69%, which was comparable to that by the human experts (72%). Conclusion: We conclude that ANN classifier performed as well as human experts and could be potentially useful supporting tool for the differential diagnosis of TLE.
A Wibro RF down converter of 2.3GHz band is designed and implemented in this paper. The problems that can occur in the receiver LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) to minimize additional purposes. In addition, 2.3GHz band from the 75 MHz downward to minimize the losses in the process, transform and improve efficiency, and achieve stable characteristics can be used to make high frequency characteristics of the device. Wibro repeater uses a TDMA(Time Division Multiplexing Access) method is needed because the RF switch. Production criterion specification, the input voltage from +8 V 1.2A of current consumption, 60dB gain and the noise figure of less than 2.5dB, VSWR(Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) less than 1.5, more than IMD(Inter Modulation Distortion) 60dB satisfied. Environmental conditions ($-20^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$) to pass the test of reliability in a long time, that seemed crafted Wibro down converter be applied to the Wibro repeater.
Lately, it is an important concern in water resources research to maintain a stable water supply according to a future climate change and an increase in water use. In Han-River basin, approximately 10 % of water resources that is provided the capital region (Gyeonggi, Seoul etc.) has been reduced as a consequence of the construction of Imnam Dam (storage volume: 27 billion $m^3$) located in the upper Hwacheon Dam upstream area. Therefore, streamflows have decreased in Bukhangang basin, but it could not be evaluated quantitatively. In this study, SWAT-K which is the physically based long-term runoff simulation model, was used in order to evaluate the effect of Imnam Dam on the reduced inflow to Hwacheon Dam according to the change of hydrological condition in the upstream area of Hwacheon Dam. For the model input data of North Korea area, meteorological data of GTS (Global Telecommunication System) were used, and soil maps by FAO/UNESCO (2003) were applied. Temporal variations of water resources is investigated with comparison of observed and simulated inflows at Hawcheon Dam site. Also, annual, monthly, seasonal decreases in water resources were evaluated using the flow duration analysis of simulated streamflows with or without Imnam dam.

We have studied to obtain the slanted finger interdigital(SFIT) type filter was formed on the Langasite substrate and was evaporated two IDT electrode by Aluminum-Copper alloy respectively. We can fabricate that the block weighted type IDT as an input transducer of the filter and the withdrawal weighted type IDT as an output transducer of the filter from the results of our computer-simulation. Also, we have performed to obtain the properly design conditions about phase shift conditions of the SPIT type filter. We have employed that the number of pairs of the input and output IDT are 50 pairs and the thickness and the width of reflectors are $5000\;{\AA}$ and $3.6{\mu}m$ respectively. At the first sample, we have employed that the distance from the hot electrode to the reflectors is $2.4{\mu}m$ distance from the ground electrode to the reflectors is $1.8{\mu}m$ and the distance from the hot electrode to the ground is $1.5{\mu}m$ respectively. At the other sample, we have also employed that the distance from the hot electrode to the reflectors and the distance from the ground electrode to the reflectors are $2.4{\mu}m$. Frequency response of the fabricated SAW filter has the property that the center frequency is about 190MHz and bandwidth at the 3dB is probably 7.3 MHz. And we could obtain that return is less than -20dB, ripple characteristics is probably 3dB and triple transit echo(TTE) is less than -22dB after when we have matched impedance.

Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) has recently received attention in developing implantable surgical equipments and it is expected to lead the future medical device market by adequately imitating surgeons' flexible and delicate hand movement. However, SMA actuators have not been used widely because of their nonlinear behavior called hysteresis, which makes their control difficult. Hence, we propose a parameter, $t_1$, which is necessary for temperature control, by analyzing the open-loop step response between current and temperature and by comparing it with the values of linear differential equations. $t_1$ is a pole of the transfer function in the invariant linear model in which the input and output are current and temperature, respectively; hence, $t_1$ is found to be related to the state variable used for temperature control. When considering the parameter under heat treatment conditions, $T_{max}$ was found to assume the lowest value, and $t_1$ was irrelevant to the heat treatment.

The objective of this study is to estimate shear wave velocity of rockfill materials by making practical use of the micro-earthquake records which are ordinarily obtained at a domestic rockfill dam and to verify its applicability. Micro-earthquake records were obtained at the site of Heongseong dam and Soyanggang dam, which are the existing multi-purpose dams in Korea. In the previous study, the fundamental periods of each dam were already evaluated by analyzing the response spectrum of the observed records. In this study, numerical analyses varying shear moduli of rockfill zone were carried out using the acceleration histories measured at the abutment as input ground motions. From comparison between the fundamental periods calculated by numerical analyses and measured records, the shear wave velocities with depth were estimated. It is found that the effect of different earthquake events on shear wave velocity estimation for the target dam materials is negligible and the shear wave velocity can be consistently evaluated. Furthermore, comparing the shear wave velocity with the previous researchers' empirical relationships and field test results, applicability of suggested method is verified. Therefore, in case that it is impossible to conduct field tests and estimation is preliminary, the suggested method can be practically used.

Traffic accident collision interpretation is composed of various shapes, and speed variations working to the vehicle during collision are utilized as a very important factor in evaluating collision degrees between vehicles and safety of passengers who got in the vehicle. So, methods of interpreting results on speed variations utilizing simulation programs on the collision interpretation become necessary. By the way, reliability evaluation on each program is being required because various collision interpretations simulations are spread widely. This study utilized collision interpretation programs such as EDSMAC and PC-CRASH adopting completely different physical approaches, and then carried out collision experiments of one-dimensional front and two-dimensional right angle while changing values of a lot of collision factors such as vehicle's weight, center of gravity, rolling resistance, stiffness coefficient, and braking forces among early input conditions. Also, the study recognized effects of collision factors to speed variations as output results during crashing. As a result of this research, two simulation programs showed same speed variations together on the vehicle's weight, center of gravity, and braking forces. Stiffness coefficient of the vehicle reacted to EDSMAC only, and rolling resistance coefficient did not affect any particular influences on speed variations. However, there appeared a bit comparative differences from the speed variation's values, and this is interpreted as responding outcomes by applying fixed properties values to each simulation program plainly. Therefore, reliability on analysis of traffic accident collisions shall be improved by doing speed analysis after taking the fixed value of simulation programs into consideration.
Recently, mining facilities have being installed in an underground space according to a social demand for environment-friendly mine development. The underground structures for mining facilities usually requires a large volume of space with width greater than height, and thus the stability assessment of the large-scale underground mine structure is an important issue. In this study, we analysed a factor of safety based on strength reduction method, and proposed a numerical design approach to determining the dimension of underground mine structures in combination with a strength reduction method and a multivariate regression analysis. Input design parameters considered in the present study were the stress ratio and shear strength of rock mass, and the width and cover depth of underground mine structures. The stabilities of underground mine structures were assessed in terms of factor of safety under different conditions of the above input parameters. It was calculated by the strength reduction method, and several kinds of fit functions were obtained through various multivariate regression analyses. Using a best-fit regression model, we proposed the charts which provide preliminary design information on the dimension of underground mine structures.
