This paper presents a dual-mode amplifier which operates as amplifier or frequency multiplier according to the input frequency. It satisfies the 802.11a/b/g frequency band of wireless LAN standard. A conventional dual-band wireless LAN transmitter consists of the separating power amplifiers operating at each frequency band, but the proposed dual-mode amplifier operates as an amplifier for the 802.11b/g signal and as a frequency multiplier for the 802.11a signal according to each LAN bias condition. The amplifier mode shows the gain of 13dB, the PldB of 17dBm and second harmonic suppression of below -37dBc. And the frequency-doubler mode shows the gain of 3.3dB, the output power of 7.3dBm and third harmonic suppression of below -50dBr.
This paper presents the control system of high-efficiency automotive 35W metal-halide lamp ballast using the new control method and planar transformer. In this paper, the electronic ballast is designed so that digital control method by microcontroller can be applied to the electronic ballast for the lamp requirement and peripheral environment in order that metal-halide lamp, which has the complicated transient features, is to be applied to the automobile even if it has superior features in brightness, color rendering, light efficiency, and lifespan compared to the conventional halogen lamp. Also, the efficiency increase of the ballast is devised by being varied the switching frequency of Flyback Converter following the battery input voltage of the automobile. Being designed for high-frequency switching transformer of converter in planar form, reduction of loss, weight, overall size are realized and efficient power control in the automobile that had the limited energy and the limited space of battery is devised. The results of the proposed system is verified through various experiment results.

This paper presents a design of the enable switch circuit, which is consist of discrete device at smart junction box(SJB) board. The Enable switch circuit, which receives ignition signal (IG) for input, sends a drive signal to linear regulator and other elements. The circuit design is carried out in a BCDMOS $0.18{\mu}m$ technology, and the performances are verified through simulations according to AEC-Q100 and ISO 7637-2. Die area of the designed Enable switch circuit is $1.67mm{\times}0.54mm$ in layout, and it is shown that the die can be housed in $3mm{\times}3mm$ HVSON8 package. The designed enable switch circuit is expected to be widely adopted in various automotive SJB's since it can significantly reduce the overall printed circuit board form factor.

In this paper, a dual mode buck converter with an ability to change mode is proposed, which is suitable particularly for portable device. The problem of conventional mode control circuit is affected by load variation condition such as suddenly or slowly. To resolve this problem, the mode control was designed with slow clock method. Also, when change from the PFM(Pulse Frequency Modulation) mode to the PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) mode, to use the counter to detect a high load. And the user can select mode transition point in load range from 20mA to 90mA by 3 bit digital signal. The circuits are implemented by using BCDMOS 0.18um 2-polt 3-metal process. Measurement environment are input voltage 3.7V, output voltage 1.2V and load current range from 10uA to 500mA. And measurement result show that the peak efficiency is 86% and ripple voltage is less 32mV.
In this study, the influence of progressive consolidation from the drainage boundary on the subsequent process of consolidation was investigated. Analytical theory and numerical program f3r consolidation of clayey soil were developed based on finite difference method, in which spatial variation of permeability and volume compressibility were implemented. And model ground with normally consolidated clayey soils and a vertical drain at its center were simulated. Various types of soils with different relations between coefficient of volume compressibility and permeability and void ratio were applied. Also numerical simulations based on the properties of the normally consolidated clay at Nakdong River basin and reconstituted kaolinite soil were performed to recognize its practical impact. Consequently, it is found out that retardation of consolidation induced by progressive consolidation is very important to understand consolidation behavior on field conditions and its effect is remarkable at the initial state of consolidation, and increases with plasticity index and applied load.
In recent years, the subject of remaining life assessment has drawn considerable attention in power plants, where various structural components typically operate at high temperature and pressure. Thus a life prediction methodology accounting for high temperature creep fracture is increasingly needed for the components. Critical defects in such structures are generally found in the form of semi-elliptical surface crack, and the analysis of which is consequently an important problem in engineering fracture mechanics. On this background, we first develop an auto mesh generation program for detailed 3-D finite element analyses of axial and circumferential semi-elliptical surface cracks in a piping system. A high temperature creep fracture parameter $C^{\ast}$-integral is obtained from the finite element analyses of generated 3-D models. Post crack growth module is further appended here to calculate the amount of crack growth. Finally the remaining lives of surface cracked pipes for various analytical parameters are assessed using the developed life assessment program.

To perform an integrated load analysis carried out to evaluate the stability evaluation of wind turbine generators, the six degree-of-freedom stiffness matrix of foundation, which describes relationships between loads and displacement, is needed. Since the foundation stiffness should accurately reflect the shape of foundation and the condition of soil, it is necessary to calculate the stiffness of the bucket foundation that considers the elasto-plastic behavior of the soil. In this study, finite element analyses were performed for a range of soils and shapes of bucket foundations to estimate the foundation stiffness. Normalized stiffness curves are developed from respective numerical simulations. Proposed results are considered to be useful because they can be directly applied in the design.
This paper presents the thermo-elastic analysis for searching the behavior of carbon/carbon brake system during the braking period and the 3-D stress analysis to find the shape of the brake disk which is safe to the failure. The mechanical properties of the carbon/carbon brake disk were measured for both in-plane and out of plane directions. The mechanical properties were used as the input of the thermo-elastic analysis and 3-dimensional stress analysis for the brake disk. The gap between rotor clip and clip retainer is an important parameter in the loading transfer mechanism of the rotor disk. The change of gap was considered both the mechanical deformation and thermal deformation. Because the rotor clip and clip retainers were not contacted, they were excluded from the analysis model. Rotor disk was modeled by using the cyclic symmetry condition. The contact problems between rotor clip and key drum as well as between rotor disk and rotor were considered. From the results of the 3-D stress analysis, the stress concentration at the key hole of the brake disk was confirmed. The stress distributions were studied thor the variation of the rotation angle of the contact surface and the radius of curvature at the key hole part.

When modelling lots of induction motors to design and configure an engine room simulator, the 2 parameters equivalent circuit has many practical benefits as it reduces working hours considerably without requiring complicated technical data from makers except the ratings of motors. The basic properties such as torque and load current are shown well matched with real cases by this method, but almost the only drawback of 2 parameters circuit is that it reveals inherently higher power factor in the whole operation range due to disregarding the exciting current of the induction motor to maximize the simplification. This paper suggests a modelling module as a practical tool to compensate the power factor by inserting a virtual compensation current into the load current from 2 parameters equivalent circuit, and the simulated results show satisfactory outputs and the improved power factor indication by performance curves when compared to the cases of 2 parameters-equivalent circuit.

This paper describes a fault-tolerant driving control strategy for an independent steer-by-wire system in sixwheel-drive/six-wheel-steering vehicles. An algorithm has been designed to realize vehicle maneuverability that is as close as possible to that of non-faulty vehicles by inducing high slip ratio of the wheel through a faulty steer-by-wire system in order to reduce the lateral tire force, which is resistant to the yaw motion. Considering the transition of the longitudinal tire force of a wheel with a faulty steer-by-wire component, the longitudinal tire forces are optimally distributed to the other wheels. Fault-tolerant driving performance has been investigated via computer simulations. Simulation studies show that the proposed algorithm can significantly improve the maneuverability of a vehicle with a faulty steer-by-wire system as compared to the optimal traction distribution method.
