  • Real temperature profiles of a planar chromel-alumel mutli-junction thermal converter(TC 1) were measured by thermal image. Temperature profiles as a function of input power of thermal converters(TC 1${\sim}$TC 6) were simulated by 3-dimensional ANSYS program based on finite element method. Temperature difference between the hot junction and the cold junction for TC 1 was smallest and largest for TC 6 and correspondingly, he voltage response for TC 1 and TC 6 showed the smallest value of 3.09 mV/mW and the largest value of 4.03 mV/mW, respectively.

  • This paper introduces a new rotor position estimation algorithm for the Switched Reluctance Motor, based on the magnetizing curves only at aligned and unaligned rotor positions. The flux linkage is calculated by measured data from phase voltage and phase current, and calculated data are used as the input of magnetizing profiles for rotor position detection. The fuzzy flux observer using novel knowledge-based fuzzy controller are presented to achieve sensorless control of the SRM. The method for selecting optimal angle is proposed for the rotor position detection. The robustness of the proposed algorithm is proved through the comparison of the simulation and experimental results.

  • We develop an IPMC actuator with self-sensing behavior based on an accurate neural network model (NNM). The supplied voltage and voltage signals measured at two determined points on both sides of the IPMC sheet are used as inputs to the NNM. A CCD laser displacement sensor is installed in the rig for accurate measurement of the IPMC tip displacement that is used as the training output of the proposed NNM. Consequently, the NNM model is used to estimate the IPMC tip displacement; the NNM parameters are optimized by the collected input/output training data. The effectiveness of the model for the IPMC actuator is then verified by modeling results.

이에 이력 데이터 압축 성능평가를 위한 시뮬레이터인 HDCS(Historical Data Compression Simulator)를 설계하고 구현하고자 한다.

  • Phase currents should be measured in real time for vector control of a 2-phase induction motor. Generally, the phase currents of the motor are measured using two Hall current sensors installed at the output terminal of an inverter. Unfortunately, Hall current sensors are expensive and uneconomical because a vector-controlled inverter for 2-phase induction motor is mainly used in low-power and low-price applications. This paper proposes a low-cost current measurement method using two shunt resistors instead of expensive Hall current sensors. The proposed method can measure the phase currents under all operating conditions of the motor. This method was applied to an experimental vector-controlled inverter for 2-phase induction motor of 220[V]/360[W] and was verified through computer simulations and experimentation.

  • In this paper, a unified potentiostat which can measure the current of both $O_2$-based and $H_2O_2$-based blood glucose sensors with low supply voltage of 1.0V has been designed and verified by simulations and measurements. Potentiostat is composed of low-voltage operational transconductance amplifier, cascode current mirrors and mode-selection circuits. It can measure currents of blood glucose chemical reactions occurred by $O_2$ or $H_2O_2$. The body of PMOS input differentional stage of the operational transconductance amplifier is forward-biased to reduce the threshold voltage for low supply voltage operation. Also, cascode current mirror is used to reduce current measurement error generated by channel length modulation effects. The proposed low-voltage potentiostat is designed and simulated using Cadence SPECTRE and fabricated in Magnachip 0.18um CMOS technology with chip size of $110{\mu}m{\times}60{\mu}m$. The measurement results show that consumption current is maximum $46{\mu}A$ at supply voltage of 1.0V. Using the persian potassium($K_3Fe(CN)_6$) equivalent to glucose, the operation of the fabricated potentiostat was confirmed.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel pc-based 8-channel USB interface digital multi-controller (DMC) has capacity to be able to adjust ultrasonic motor's (USM's) the parameters-frequency, amplitude, phase difference using FPGA. The proposed DMC can control parameters directly by digital logic through a FPGA. Since it has counter circuit for rotary encoder to measure position and velocity of USM, the other separate circuits are unnecessary. Therefore, it could reduce the size of controller and the production cost. Finally, to verify the performance of proposed DMC, we tested the speed characteristic of two types USM with no-load as adjusting the parameters.

  • DC motor requires a rotor speed sensor for accurate speed control. The speed sensors such as resolvers and encoders are used as a speed detector, but they increase cost and size of the motor and restrict the industrial drive applications. So in these days, many papers have reported in the sensorless operation of DC motor〔35〕. This paper presents a new sensorless strategy using neural networks〔68〕. Neural network has three layers which are input layer, hidden layer and output layer. The optimal neural network structure was tracked down by trial and error, and it was found that 4161 neural network structure has given suitable results for the instantaneous rotor speed. Also, learning method is very important in neural network. Supervised learning methods〔8〕 are typically used to train the neural network for learning the input/output pattern presented. The backpropagation technique adjusts the neural network weights during training. The rotor speed is gained by weights and four inputs to the neural network. The experimental results were found satisfactory in both the independency on machine parameters and the insensitivity to the load condition.
