In this paper the flow dynamics of the flue gas equipment in the desulfurization system was numerically analyzed by simulating the problems for the turbulent and combustion flow from Induced Draft Fan(I.D.Fan) outlet to Booster Up Fan(B.U.Fan) inlet using the commercial CFD software of CFD-ACE+ in CFDRC company for Computational Fluid Dynamic Analysis. The guide vane of this section was examined for the minimum pressure loss and the uniform flow dynamic to B.U.Fan with the proper velocity from I.D,Fan exit to B,U,Fan inlet section at the boiler both the maximum continuous rating and the design base. The guide vanes at I,D.Fan outlet and B.U.Fan inlet were removed and modified by numerical simulation of the CFD analysis. The flue gas at the system had the less pressure loss and the uniform flow dynamics of the flow velocity and flow line by comparing with the old design equipment.

Ejector-diffuser system makes use of high-pressure primary stream to entrain the low-pressure secondary stream through pure shear action between two streams. In general, the flow field in the ejector-diffuser system is highly complicated due to turbulent mixing, compressibility effects. A fatal drawback of the ejector system is in its low efficiency. Many works have been done to improve the performance of the ejector system, but not yet satisfactory. In the present study, a mixing guide vane was installed at the inlet of the secondary stream for the purpose of the performance improvement of the ejector system. A CFD method has been applied to simulate the supersonic flows inside the ejector-diffuser system. The present results obtained were validated with existing experimental data. The mixing guide vane effects are discussed in terms of the entrainment ratio, total pressure loss as well as pressure recovery.
Stall inception characteristics are researched to understand stall well. To realize different stall inception patterns, IGV stagger angle was changed. At design IGV stagger angle, spike, which is short length scale, is observed. Decreasing IGV stagger angle, spike changes to mode, which is long length scale, and further decreasing get multi cell. Compressor maps for each IGV stagger are shown to compare different stall inceptions. The characteristics of both spike and mode are confirmed in this experiment. Furthermore, transient from spike to mode is find. multi cell has 4cells and is little bit faster than mode. and multi cell shows 2nd, 3rd characteristics on compressor map.

The preliminary design of a radial inflow turbine using R134a as the working fluid at 5 kW of power for application to ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) is performed to obtain the trends for the efficiency and geometrical dimensions of the turbine. Using input conditions that included a turbine inlet temperature of $25^{\circ}C$, an outlet static pressure of 4.9 bar, and a mass flow rate of 1.16 kg/s, the results of a mean flow analysis show the major dimensions of the turbine, along with an angular velocity of 12,820 rpm. Based on these results, a three-dimensional turbine model is constructed for a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. The flow characteristics inside the turbine, including the volute and nozzle, are investigated using the CFD software ANSYS CFX. For a pertinent number of nozzle guide vanes, ranging from 10 to 15, the turbine efficiency was higher than 80%, with the highest efficiency shown by a nozzle with 15 guide vanes.
The flow pattern at the inlet of the catalyst layer in a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system is one of the key parameters influencing the performance of the denitrification process. In the curved diffusing parts between the ammonia injection grids and the catalyst layers, guide vanes are installed to improve flow uniformity. In the present study, a numerical simulation has been performed to investigate the effect of the geometrical configuration of the guide vanes on the aerodynamic characteristics of a denitrification facility. This application has been made to the existing SCR process in a large-scaled coal-fired power plant. The flow domain to be solved covers the whole region of the flow passages from the exit of the ammonia injection gun to the exit of the catalyst layers. ANSYS-Fluent was used to calculate the three-dimensional steady viscous flow fields with the proper turbulence model fitted to the flow characteristics. The root mean square of velocity and the pressure drop inside the flow passages were chosen as the key performance parameters. Four types of guides vanes were proposed to improve the flow quality compared to the current configuration. The numerical results showed that the type 4 configuration was the most effective at improving the aerodynamic performance in terms of flow uniformity and pressure loss.

Effects of the duct inlet guide vane on the flowrate distribution characteristics of the defroster nozzle exit in a defrost duct system were investigated experimentally to design the optimum heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system applied in an automotive compartment. A 3-dimensional hot-wire anemometer system was used to measure the velocity field in the vicinity of the defroster nozzle jet flow and the velocity distributions near the windshield interior surface. At first, two cases of with- and without-duct inlet guide vanes were considered as the test condition, and then three cases of the duct inlet guide vane were tested to determine the optimum guide vane shape and their positions. The arrangement of the duct inlet guide vanes has an effect on the improved flowrate distribution at the defroster nozzle exit and near the windshield interior surface. However, the application of the lots of guide vane to control the flow direction leads to increase the flow resistance, resulting in the decreased flowrate issuing from the defroster nozzle. The shape of the duct inlet guide vane affects not only the flowrate distribution between the driver side and the assistant driver side but also the reduction of the flow resistance in the defrost duct system.

A surge phenomenon cause noise and pulsations in a turbo compressor, which is an unstable operating regime. Because surge protection ensures a safe compressor operation, it is important to understand the physics of the surge phenomenon. In this study, the surge characteristics of a 250-hp class turbo-compressor were evaluated experimentally. The experimental parameters were the rotational speed, opening angles of the inlet guide vane and exit valve, and inlet pipe diameter and flow rates of the inlet gases. The results showed that the compressor surge was very sensitive to the gas flow rates, exit pressure, rotational speed, and bypass flow rates.

Generally the variable guide vane is used to secure the sufficient operating point in the off-design condition. In this study the inlet guide vane, 1st and 2nd stators in a multi-stage axial compressor are movable to obtain the operating range. So the effects of variable guide vane setting angle on the performance of 2.5 stage axial compressor were investigated at 70 % and 90 % conditions of nominal rotating speed in this paper. The steady-state and unsteady numerical analyses were conducted at each operating condition. The performance map, lost efficiency and flow fields were compared.

A simulation procedure for a full transient analysis of the start-up of heavy-duty gas turbines for power generation is constructed. Compressor stages are grouped into three categories (front, mid, rear) and three different stage characteristic curves are applied to consider the different low-speed operating characteristics. Start-up behavior of a typical single-shaft gas turbine for power generation is simulated. The predicted transient behavior shows a good agreement with the field data. Special attention is paid to the effects of the modulation of VIGV on start-up characteristics, which play a key role in the stable operation of gas turbines.
