A Study on Recursive Spacial Filtering for Impulse Noise Removal in Image (영상의 임펄스 노이즈 제거를 위한 재귀적 공간 필터링에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, filtering methods for attenuating noise while preserving image details are in progress actively. And SM(standard median) filter showed a great performance for noise removal in impulse noise environment but, it caused edge cancellation error. So, variable methods that modified SM(standard median) filter have been proposed, and CWM(center weighted median) filter is representative. Also, there are several methods to improve the efficiency based on min/max operation in term of preserving detail and filtering speed. In this paper, we managed a pixel corrupted by impulsive noise using min/max value of the surrounding band enclosing a pixel, and compared the efficiency with exiting methods in the simulation.

  • 디스크립터(Descriptor) 표현은 상태공간 표현을 확장시킨 일반적인 시스템의 기술방법으로 파라미터의 물리적인 구조를 보존하고 있으며, 임펄스를 포함한 현상을 기술할 수 있다. 또한, 대규모 시스템의 모델화가 용이하며, 프로퍼(Proper)이지 않은 시스템을 기술할 수 있고 구속조건을 가진 동적시스템의 기술이 가능하는 등의 특징을 지니고 있다. 그러나, 디스크립터 시스템의 해는 미분항을 포함하고 있으므로 노이즈 및 파라미터 변동에 대해서 매우 민감하여, 관측기설계시 강인(Robust)한 관측기설계가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 디스크립터 시스템에 대해 로바스트 관측기의 일종인 비례적분(PI) 관측기의 설계에 대해서 논한다. 먼저, 디스크립터 시스템에 대한 PI 관측기의 존재조건을 유도하였으며, 체계적인 설계법을 보였다. 또한, PI 관측기의 존재조건이 Rosenbrock의 가관측 조건하에서 간단히 보여지며, 이것은 시스템 행렬의 Rank 조건에 의해 쉽게 구해질 수 있다.

  • MMMF(Modified 2D Multi-shell Median Filter)를 기초로 하여 가변 문턱 조건과 홀/짝수 다중셀을 이용한 Adaptive Odd/Even MMF(Multi-shell Median Filter)를 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 MATLAB을 이용하여 연구하고 테스트하였다. 제안된 알고리즘의 성능은 이미 잘 알려진 이미지에 임펄스 노이즈(Impulse Noise)와 Line Missing을 적용하여 평가하였고 이를 FPGA로 구현하였다. 제안된 가변 문턱 조건은 연산 시간과 불필요한 재배치를 줄였고, 홀수 셀과 짝수 셀은 각각 십자 방향과 대각선 방향의 Line Missing을 복구하였다. 특히 짧은 연산 시간으로 실시간을 요구하는 이미지 처리 분야에서 효과적으로 이용할 수 있다.

  • The signals that can be obtained from rotating machines often convey the information of machine. For example, if the machine under investigation has faults, then these signals often have pulse signals, embedded in noise. Therefore the ability to detect the fault signal in noise is major concern of fault diagnosis of rotating machine, In this paper, minimum variance cepstrum (MV cepstrum) . which can easily detect impulse in noise, has been applied to detect the type of faults of ball bearing system. To test the performance of this technique. various experiments have been performed for ball bearing elements that have man made faults. Results show that minimum variance cepstrum can easily detect the periodicity due to faults and also shows the pattern of excitation by the faults.

  • Preserving image features, edges and details in the process of impulsive noise filtering is an important problem. To avoid image blurring, only corrupted pixels must be filtered. In this paper, we propose an effective impulse noise detection method using Self-Organizing Neural Network(SONN) which applies median filter selectively for removing random-valued impulse noises while preserving image features, edges and details. Using a $3\times3$ window, we obtain useful local features with which impulse noise patterns are classified. SONN is trained with sample image patterns and each pixel pattern is classified by its local information in the image. The results of the experiments with various images which are the noise range of $5-15\%$ show that our method performs better than other methods which use multiple threshold values for impulse noise detection.

  • A wavelet transform which is presented as a new technique of signal processing field decompose input signals into subsignals for expressing them in different resolutions and into detail signals for expressing the remaining signals. And the signals obtained from the progress include the information about input signals at the same time and scale. And when two wavelet bases are designed to form Hilbert transform pair, wavelet Pair show superior performance than the existing DWT in data detection of pulse type. Therefore in this paper, we detected position of impulse noise by using two dyadic wavelet bases which are designed by truncated coefficient vector.

  • In this paper, to develop a broadband power line communication modem and network technologies, we analysis the characteristics of underground power line communication channel through actual tests. To measure the amount of attenuation by length and structure of broadband power line communication channel, we configure a measurement system of the channel with signal generator, spectrum analyzer and non-contacted coupler. For actual tests, we choose two of the longest lines among medium-voltage lines as a single line in the test lines and measure the characteristics of noise and signal attenuation level of the channel. The experimental results show that the channel has a impulse noise which can remarkably reduce communication capability. In the case of long lines, high-frequency attenuation appeared by length of the lines.

  • This paper proposes the low power MDCT algorithm for precise FV with minimum size of sub-window in mobile phone. Proposed algerian uses the coefficient at the middle of whole result process requiring the least number of calculations, since it has a good characteristic when used as standard of the FV and needs minimum amount of operation. In addition, using the DCT result related to the middle frequency makes the characteristic of FV more superior because it suppresses the impulsive noise and difference of focus values is larger than any others. The proposed algorithm is implemented using Verilog HDL and verified using Excalibur-ARM board.

  • An adaptive Odd/Even Multi-shell Median Filter(Adaptive O/E MMF) is proposed by using a adaptive threshold strategy and odd/even multishells. This algorithm was verified in MATLAB and implemented on FPGA. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated by adding impulse noise and line missing into well-known images. A proposed adaptive threshold strategy may reduce the computation time and redundant arrangement. odd and even multishells can recover line missing of vertical and diagonal directions respectively Therefore, the algorithm proposed in this work can be effectively used in real time image processing applications.

  • According to the development and supply of Wibro technology digital technology is applied in several fields. Digital images are damaged by various noises in the process of transfer and storage; the image restoration is to reduce the influence of the noises on images by removing the noises. To make good image restoration several methods have been proposed but the noise removal property is not satisfactory. Therefore, to effectively remove noises noise decision is made and if it is decided as a noise, the size of mask is enlarged; this is adaptive median filter algorithm that is proposed in this paper. And through simulation the superiority of this algorithm to existing methods has been verified.
