Role Expectations and Cooperation of Staff Nurses and Clinical Research Nurses who take care of Clinical Research Patientser (임상연구환자를 돌보는 병동간호사와 임상연구간호사의 역할기대와 협력 인식)

  • This was an investigative study to identify the role expectations for clinical research related tasks that ward nurses can participate in and the awareness of cooperation between ward nurses and clinical research nurses (CRNs) and the obstacles for the same. The subjects were 66 ward nurses and 65 CRNs. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the two-sample t-test, and the 𝑥2 test on SAS 9.3. As a result of this study, 4.56±0.41 ward nurses and 3.83±0.60 CRNs were found to have high role expectations of each other and statistically significant role expectations for ward nurses (p<.001). Significant differences were seen in the five categories of cooperation recognition between the two groups. Among the factors for cooperative disabilities, excessive work and lack of awareness of clinical research were ranked high. High role expectation becomes an element of role conflict. To organize the role of ward nurses and clinical research nurses in the new clinical research nursing work, procedures, establishing of effective practices, and the proper operation of an official system are expected to be necessary. To promote cooperation between the two groups, a culture of mutual trust and cooperation should be formed to enable each group to think of the other as partners and to recognize their expertise.

Impact of Spirituality on Clinical Practice among Dental Hygiene Students (치위생(학)과 재학생의 영성이 임상실습 스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the spirituality of dental hygiene and students and examined whether it affects the stress that may occur during clinical practice. The research tool consisted, clinical practice stresses, and general characteristics. It was held from March to July 2019 for 280 dental hygienists and students in K area. T-test and ANOVA were conducted for differences in spirituality and clinical practice stress according to general characteristics. The correlation between spirituality and clinical stress was analyzed by Pearson corrlation coefficients. As a result, dental hygiene and clinical practice stress of students were negatively correlated with spirituality, major satisfaction, and academic performance. If the motivation to apply to the department was grade, the clinical practice stress was higher. The limitation of this study is that it is impossible to make a concrete comparison because previous studies on the spirituality of dental hygiene and students are insufficient. Therefore, various studies on spirituality and clinical practice stress for dental hygienists are needed, and strategic search will be needed.

The Relationship between Satisfaction with Clinical Practice and Clinical Performance Ability for Nursing Students (간호대학생의 임상실습 만족도와 임상수행능력과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this descriptive study was to investigate satisfaction with clinical practice and clinical performance ability for 118 of third and fourth year nursing students. The collected data were analyzed by using the SPSS/PC+ver. 21 program which determined frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, and Pearson's correlation coefficients. The results of this study were as follows : The satisfaction with clinical practice was 3.36 point out of 5 and the clinical performance ability was 3.42 point out of 5. In satisfaction with clinical practice, satisfaction of the curriculum was the highest and in clinical ability performance, education partnerships was the highest. Clinical practice satisfaction according to the general characteristic of the subjects was significant difference in health status(F=3.896, p=.023), satisfaction with college life(F=8.164, p<.001), nursing department(F=4.652, p=.011), conditions in clinical practice(F=11.889, p<.001), and practice workload(F=13.504, p<.001). Clinical performance ability according to the general characteristic of the subjects was significant difference in religion(t=6.682 p=.011) and satisfaction with college life(F=3.440, p=.035). The relationship between clinical practice satisfaction and clinical performance ability was positive correlation(r=.297, p=.001).

Convergence Relationship between Clinical Practice Stress after Gerontological Nursing Practice, Clinical Practice Satisfaction and Nursing Image of Nursing College Students (간호대학생의 노인간호학 실습 후 임상실습 스트레스, 임상실습 만족도 및 간호이미지와의 융복합적 관련성)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between clinical practice stress, practice satisfaction, and nursing image of nursing students with experience of Gerontological nursing practice and to identify factors affecting nursing image. Data were collected from 150 nursing students from September 1 to 23, 2016 and analyzed using SPSS / Win 23.0. Results showed, practise stress was 3.13, satisfaction, 3.14 and nursing image, 3.32. Correlation analysis revealed that there was negative correlation between practice stress and practicec satisfaction, practice stress and nursing image, and a positive correlation between nursing image and practice satisfaction. Meanwhile, the factor affecting nursing image was practice satisfaction (${\beta}=.602$) and the explanatory power was 40%. Therefore, effective nursing education and practical strategies are needed to improve the nursing image and practice satisfaction of Gerontological nursing practice of nursing students.

Needs for clinical dietitian in hospital settings: Importance of doctor's awareness regarding clinical nutrition service as mediating variable (의료기관 임상영양사 요구도에 미치는 영향 : 임상영양서비스의 중요도에 대한 의사의 인식을 매개역할 중심으로)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore whether or not there is a relationship between doctor's awareness of clinical nutrition service and needs for a clinical dietitian. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was used. The research was carried out by using questionnaires that had been specifically designed for the study. The research was conducted from September to October, 2013 for 311 doctors at 43 hospitals (with over 400 beds). Frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and bootstrapping analysis were conducted using SPSS 21.0. Results: 'Implementation of clinical nutritional service' (p < 0.001) and 'usefulness on clinical nutrition service' (p < 0.001) were found to be correlated with 'importance of clinical nutrition service' as an independent variable. The correlation between 'importance of clinical nutrition service' as a mediating variable and 'needs for clinical dietitian' as a dependent variable was also confirmed (p < 0.001). The results of the bootstrapping test showed that the mediating effect of 'importance of clinical nutrition service' was significant. The indirect effect value between 'implementation of clinical nutrition service' and 'needs for clinical dietitian' was 0.040, indirect effect value between 'usefulness on clinical nutrition service' and 'needs for clinical dietitian' was 0.095. Conclusion: The frequency of providing clinical nutritional services, the quality of clinical nutritional services, and the degree of implementation of clinical nutritional services were found to be important for positive perception of clinical nutrition services by doctors. Therefore, proper provision of clinical nutrition services and effective therapeutic effects will be continuously highlighted, which will increase the awareness of the physician and ultimately increase the demand for clinical nutrition service.

Effects of Clinical Nurses' Resilience on Job Stress and Burnout (임상간호사의 회복탄력성이 직무스트레스와 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate an effect of resilience of clinical nurses on their job stress and burnout. A convenience sample of 166 subjects were recruited from one general hospital. The mean score of resilience, job stress, burnout were 2.48, 4.00, and 2.98 respectively. The relation between resilience and burnout was effected with the negative correlation. The explanation power of resilience of clinical nurses on burnout was 24.8%. In conclusion, we found that resilience decreased clinical nurse's burnout. From this result, we suggest resilience improvement programs for clinical nurses will be developed and implemented.

Influence of Nursing Students' Self-leadership and Clinical Competence on Clinical Practice Satisfaction (간호대학생의 셀프리더십, 임상수행능력이 임상실습만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is to understand the relationship between self-leadership, clinical competence, and clinical practice satisfaction of nursing students, and to investigate the effect of self-leadership and clinical competence on clinical practice satisfaction. Data collection was conducted from May 1 to May 16, 2019, and 186 questionnaires were used for analysis and analyzed through SPSS/WIN 28.0. The average of the participants's self-leadership was 3.44 points, the average of clinical competence was 3.82 points, and the average of clinical practice satisfaction was 3.69 points. Satisfaction with clinical practice was found to have a positive correlation with self-leadership(r=.221, p=.002) and clinical competence(r=.262, p<.001), and self-leadership and clinical performance(r=.050, p=.494) showed no correlation. The variables affecting clinical practice satisfaction were self-leadership(β=.251, p<.001) and clinical competence(β=.208, p=.003), and the explanatory power of these variables was 10.4%. Therefore, in order to increase the satisfaction of nursing students in clinical practice, it is necessary to develop a program that can improve self-leadership and clinical competence.

Study on Significance and limitations of the Enactment of the Advanced Regenerative Bio Act (첨단재생바이오법의 제정 의의와 제한점)

  • The significance of the enactment of the 「Act On The Safety Of And Support For Advanced Regenerative Medicine And Advanced Biological Products」 is to break away from the regulation of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act and expand patient treatment opportunities through a medical technology approach to regenerative medicine, which is essentially a medical practice called 'transplantation'. However, more than a year after the law was enacted, clinical study has not been activated, with not a single high-risk study approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety being approved. The reason is that despite the legal purpose of expanding patient treatment opportunities, the data requirements for clinical study approval are set in connection with drug development despite the insufficient legal basis, making it difficult for many researchers to meet the data requirements. Prior to the enactment of the Act, submitted data for clinical study on cell therapy products within the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act were cosiderably exempted from quality and non-clinical test data, but with the enforcement of the Advanced Regenerative Bio Act, quality and non-clinical test data are required in accordance with pharmaceuticals when applying for approval of a clinical study plan. To rectify this, when considering the identity of clinical study on advanced regenerative medicine to expand treatment opportunities, recognize that there are limitations in connection with drug development. And it is necessary to preserve the identity of clinical study on advanced regenerative medicine, and on the other hand, in the case of drug product approval, clinical study results should be utilized while specifying usage requirements. Therefore, with the power of the market and the voluntary motive of the clinical researcher, it is necessary to prepare the necessary data by themselves rather than the basic requirements for clinical study approval.

Validation of the Effectiveness of Education for Obtaining Consent in Clinical Study (임상연구 동의서 교육 시행의 효용성 검증)

  • Purpose: To validate the effectiveness of obtaining consent education on errors in the consent process and to develop the education program for researchers. Methods: From February 2019 to February 2022, a 30-minute, 1:1 face-to-face consent education developed using the ADDIE model was conducted on 78 nurses as principal investigators. An informed consent audit tool, which includes 6 items developed by Asan Medical Center Human Research Protection Center, was used to analyze errors in obtaining informed consent process. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS ver. 25.0, and the Mann-Whitney U-test and χ2-test were utilized to verify the difference in errors between the experimental and control groups. Results: The participants consisted of 42 in the experimental group and 36 in the control group, with no statistically significant difference between the 2 groups. Both 2 groups showed the highest frequency of documentation errors, followed by format errors, errors related to a suitability of investigator, participant, or participant's legally acceptable representative, witness and confidentiality issues. After education, there was a significant decrease in both format errors (p=0.002) and documentation errors (p<0.001) in the experimental group. The proportion of participants without any errors in all items was higher in the experimental group (35.7%) compared to the control group (5.6%), and this difference was statistically significant (p=0.001). Conclusion: The obtaining consent education program was found to be effective in reducing informed consent errors. This study emphasizes the importance of education, suggesting the need for its expansion and accessibility, as well as the necessity for all researchers conducting clinical studies to receive the obtaining consent education.
