Study on the Persistent Wage Losses of Displaced Workers (실직으로 인한 임금 손실과 지속 원인에 대한 연구)

  • This paper investigates the wage losses of displaced workers, using data from the Korean Labor & Income Panel Study. Previous Korean studies were only to estimate the wage losses shortly after job displacement. However, if the wage losses persist, those results seem to under-estimate the effects of displacement. Our findings show that the wage reductions are quite persistent 4 years after displacement. And much of this persistence can be explained by the lost labor market experience (lost opportunities to accumulate generalized skills) and additional job losses in the years following an initial displacement.

Union Effects on Nonunion Wages: A Regional Panel Data Analysis for Korea (노동조합이 비조합원 임금에 미치는 영향: 지역 수준 분석)

  • Using data sets from the Korean Labour and Income Panel Study (KLIPS) for the period 2003-2015, this study shows that wages of nonunion workers are positively related to the percentage of unionized workers in the same geographic region. A 10 percentage point increase in a region's union density is associated with a 4.9 percent increase in the region's average wage of nonunion workers. It is also shown that this positive spillover effect is observed for various subgroups of nonunion workers, including women, youth, low-educated workers, small firm employees, and those employed under nonstandard work arrangements. In contrast, the average wage of union workers is found to respond insignificantly to changes in a region's union density.

The Effect of Military Service on Wages in Korea (군 복무 여부가 임금결정에 미치는 효과)

  • Interest about the effect of military service is increasing because of the renewal of military service incentive system in Korea. In the background, men has been experienced which suffer monetary and non-monetary damages through the compulsory military service in Korea. However there are few studies that analyze the labor market effect of military service. This study takes advantage of male worker's data of 10th KLIPS(Korea Labor & Income Panel Survey) in 2007 and analyze the wage effect of military service. According to empirical result using Mincerian earnings function, the positive effect of military service appeared. These result shows men who finished military duty have an monetary advantage in Korean labor market unlike general perceptions on military service.

  • 시멘트공업경영은 자본집약산업으로 그 규모는 일정수준의 단위까지 팽창되지 않으면 안되는 시장경쟁적 여건을 포함하고 있는데 특히 시멘트제품의 수급비탄력성은 방대한 규모의 생산시설과 여기에 투입된 노동을 유휴화시키고 이로 인한 기업의 고정비부담을 가중시키므로 적자의 가장 큰 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 이와 같은 유휴비용중 특히 노무비부담이 큰 비중을 점하고 있는데 현세멘트공업계의 임금제도는 저생산저임금형태로 기업과 종업원에게 공히 유용한 요소가 되고 있다. 이러한 시멘트의 계절적인 수요변동에 따라 성수기에 있어서는 노동의 부족을 나타내고 비성수기에 있어서는 확대된 부분이 축소된 것만큼 인원을 감소시켜야하므로 노사간의 불화와 기업공신력의 상실등을 야기시키게 되어 기업측이나 종업원측으로 보아서도 서로의 손실임에는 틀림없다. 따라서 이와 같은 문제는 합리적인 임금제도 및 영리의 결여에서 오는 것인 만큼 기업과 종업원에 공히 이득을 가져와 줄 수 있는 성과급제도의 도입적용에 시급히 필요하다고 하겠다.

The Economic Costs of Newly Diagnosed Lyme Disease (Lyme질환의 경제적 비용분석)

  • Lyme 질환은 미국 코넷티컷주의 라임지방에서 관절염증상을 보이는 소아과환자에게서 1975년 처음 발견되었다, 사슴, 누루, 개 등에 기생하는 진드기에 의해 전염되며, 발병초기에는 감기증상을 수반한 황소의 눈과 비슷한 붉은 반점이 생긴다. 적기에 치료하지 않으면, 관절염, 심장질환, 안면신경마비 등으로 악화될 수 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 두가지로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 먼저, 진단초기의 Lyme질환과 관련된 의료 및 기타 경제적 비용을 저렴하게 계측할 수 있는 방법론을 개발하고 그 유효성을 검증하는 것이다. 둘째로 lyme질환의 비용에 대한 여러종류의 총괄적 계측치를 제공하고 발병의 위험요인을 색출하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 차트분석이나 임상연구 등 고가의 비용이 수반되는 분석기법 대신에 Lyme질환 다발지역에 대한 설문조사를 실시하고 그 유효성을 재설문조사를 통해서 검증하는 방법을 사용하였다. 자료분석상의 난점은 조사대상자마다 응답하지 않은 항목(Missing Value)이 다르기 때문에, 총 비용을 계산할 때 모든 항목에 응답한 조사대상자만을 사용한다면 표본의 크기가 너무 작아지는 것이었다. 이에 대한 대안으로 총비용 및 부분별 비용의 합을 계산할 때 표본의 일부가 응답하지 않은 항목에 대해서는 그 항목에 응답한 나머지 조사대상자의 응답치 평균을 대체하는 방법을 사용하였다. 통계적 분석결과, 질환의 증상시작부터 설문조사시기까지 Lyme질환과 관련된 사회적 총비용은 US$ 6400으로 추정되었다. 이중에 200가량은 환자의 보호자와 관련된 비용이고 나머지는 환자와 관련되 것이다. 총의료비용의 평균은 계산방법에 따라서 US$ 3000-4200의 범위를 보였다. 응답되지 않은 항목을 해당항목에 대한 응답치평균으로 대체하였을 때 총의료비평균은 US$ 4108이었다. 시간비용을 생산성손실에 대한 사회적 가치와 실제임금 손실의 두가지 방법에 의해 계산되었다. 실제임금손실은 생산손실의 사회적 가치의 약 30%에 불과하였다. 본 논문의 결과는 의료비용 및 비용과 생산성손실에 대한 정보가 지역보건담당자에 의한 전화설문조사에 의해 경제적이고도 일관성 있게 수집될 수 있다는 근거로 해석될 수 있다.

Analysis of Determinants of Employment Quality of Youth in Seoul: Focused on Population Movement, Labor Market Trends, Job Duration and Wages (서울시 청년층의 고용의 질 결정요인 분석: 인구이동, 노동시장 동향, 일자리 지속기간 및 임금을 중심으로)

  • Using the 1st to 13th rounds of occupational history data of the Korea Employment Information Service's Youth Panel (YP2007), this study explores the trends and characteristics of the youth labor market in Seoul. We further empirically investigated the job duration and wage determinants of youth employed in Seoul. The results confirm that workers who have a higher income and a higher consistency with their majors are less likely to leave. In addition, we find that workers in full-time, householders, or labor unions have a higher income if they are men and work in large companies. In particular, compared to the reference group (appropriate academic background, appropriate skill), mismatches in the lack of education and skill showed a wage increase effect of 4.9% and 5.5%, respectively. For the major consistency, the wage of the matched major group is 3.8% higher than the non-matched major group.

  • 본 논문에서는, 특히 고효율에 따른 소음 증가문제를 해결하기 위해 실험계획법을 이용한 머플러를 설계하였고, 설계단계에서부터 시뮬레이션 검증을 통해 효율을 고려한 저소음 머플러 설계가 가능하도록 머플러의 형상을 유한요소법에 의해 모델링한 후에, 소음해석 PACKAGE인 SYSNOISE를 이용하여 전달손실(TRANSMISSON LOSS) 해석을 해석하였고, 유동해석 PACKAGE인 PHONEMICS를 이용하여 압력손실을 최소화함으로써, 효율 및 소음측면에서 기존머플러보다도 더 우수한 머플러를 설계할 수 있는 PROCEDURE를 개발하였다. 이에 따라 차후 머플러내의 냉매유동특성과 소음특성을 동시에 고려한 머플러가 설계가능하리라 생각한다.

Influence that Wage Satisfaction of the private Security Guards has on Devotion Organization (민간경비원의 임금만족이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • As the society changes, the Private Security has developed highly in a short time. However, it has brought about various problems. The best urgent problem of those problems is the wage problem. This study is examining into the difference with the wage satisfaction and devotion to organization, and analyzing influence that wage satisfaction has on devotion to organization. According to this research, the first, women appeared higher numerical value than men in satisfaction with a wage level, wage disparity, wage system and the welfare system and the highest age group is over 26 year-old. While the college graduates appeared high satisfaction with a wage level and wage disparity, the university graduates is high satisfaction with wage system and the welfare. This shows that as the scholarship is high, they think they must be getting wages higher and higher as their work result or produce. The second, in devotion to his(her) organization, the men is higher than the women. The third, the men show the high emotional devotion because the men devote to his work on his own initiative while the women show the high continuos service devotion because they are passively. The fourth, over the 26-year old group appeared high level in devotion to his(her) organization, the university graduate group appeared high level both the emotional devotion and the continuous service devotion. The long-term employed person showed the satisfaction with job position, pay grade, and career and also appeared high in devotion to his(her) organization. The fifth, as the scholarship is low, they were concerned about a wage level and wage disparity but, as the scholarship is high, they were concerned about the wage system and the welfare. The wage satisfaction has influence on the scholarship, job position and career therefore, the long-term employed persons showed high wage satisfaction and devotion to his(her) organization. In conclusion, for the development of Private Security and high devotion to organization, the wage level of private security guards must be systematize and the quality of the welfare must be improved. And the many factors about the wage and welfare must be studied and analyzed to occupy as one of the skill lists through the educational-industrial collaboration.

Medical expenses and lost productivity costs due to the medical use of research arthropathy disease (관절병증 질환자의 의료이용에 따른 의료비 및 생산성 손실비용 연구)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate medical expenses and productivity lost costs associated with medical use of arthropathy disease. For this study, Using by Korea Medical pannel 5434 family and 15872 people in 2012, the enrolled 19-year-old arthropathy were considered and 1370 people were analyzed. Research Method was medical management calculation formular. Emergency medical using cost was 42,128,870 won per year, productivity lost costs was 98,640,000 won per year. Admission medical using times were 4.79, medical cost was 42,128,870 won, productivity lost cost was 945,036,820 won. Out patient clinic using time per year were 12.7, medical cost was 42,128,870 won, productivity lost cost was 91,252,728,000 won. According to this study, athropathy disease could affect to medical cost increasing and productivity decreasing, therefore I suggest that exercise and management for decreasing athropathy disease.

The Effects of Real and Monetary Disturbances and Economic Interactions between the Two Large Countries (실물교란과 화폐교란이 양 대국 경제에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effects of real and monetary disturbances and economic interactions between two large countries, and to examine how wage indexation affects the transmission of real and monetary disturbances and affects the fiscal and monetary policies of a large country. A two large country model is built, and is theoretically analyzed. We conducted an empirical investigation to apply theoretical findings to the Japanese and US economic interactions in response to real and monetary disturbances originating in one or the other country. Empirical evidence on Japan-USA economic interactions shows that Japan is much more affected by the US economic policy than the USA is affected by the Japanese economic policy. The economic impacts of real and monetary disturbances on the Japanese and US economies are smaller when the Japanese and US wage indexing parameters are lower.
