Convective Heat Transfer to Water near the Critical Region in Horizontal Rectangular Ducts (수평 직사각 덕트 내 임계점 부근 물의 대류열전달 특성)

  • Fluid flow and heat transfer in horizontal ducts are strongly coupled with large changes in thermodynamic and transport properties near the critical region as well as the gravity force. Numerical analysis has been carried out to investigate convective heat transfer in horizontal rectangular ducts for water near the thermodynamic critical point. Convective heat transfer characteristics, including velocity, temperature, and the properties as well as local heat transfer coefficients along the ducts are compared with the effect of proximity on the critical point. When there is flow acceleration because of a density decrease, convective heat transfer characteristics in the ducts show transition behavior between liquid-like and gas-like phases. There is a large variation in the local heat transfer coefficient distributions at the top, side, and bottom surfaces, and close to the pseudocritical temperature, a peak in the heat transfer coefficient distribution resulting from improved turbulent transport is observed. The Nusselt number distribution depends on pressure and duct aspect ratio, while the Nusselt number peak rapidly increases as the pressure approaches the critical pressure. The predicted Nusselt number is also compared with other heat transfer correlations.

Quantification of Realistic Discharge Coefficients for the Critical Flow Model of RELAP5/MOD3/KAERl (RELAP5 / MOD3/ KAERI의 임계유동모델을 위한 실제적 배출계수의 정량화)

  • The realistic discharge coefficient for the critical How model of RELAP5/AOD3/KAERI are determined for the subcooled and too-phase critical flow by assessments of nine MARVIKEN Critical flew Test(CFT). The selected test runs include a high initial subcooling and large nozzle aspect rat-io(L/D). The code assessment results show that RELAP5/MOD3/KAERI over-predicts the subcooled critical flow and under-predicts the two-phase critical flow. Using these result, the realistic discharge coefficients of critical flow models are quantified by an iterative method. The realistic discharge coefficients are determined to be 0.89 for the subcooled critical How and 1.07 for the two-phase critical flow, and the associated standard deviations are 0.0349 and 0.1189, respectively. The results obtained from this study can be applied to calculate the realistic system response of Large Break Loss of Coolant Accident and to evaluate the realistic Emergency Core Cooling System performance.

Critical Angle Analysis of Elliptical Corner Cracks in Mechanical Joints by Weight Function Method and Finite Element Analysis (가중함수법과 유한요소해석에 의한 기계적 체결부에 존재하는 타원형 모서리균열의 임계 경사각 해석)

  • There is the high possibility of crack initiation from mechanical joints, which are widely used in aircraft fuselages, due to the development of stress concentration and contact pressure. In this paper, the mixed-mode stress intensity factors at the surface and deepest points of an inclined quarter elliptical corner crack in mechanical joints are analyzed by the weight function method. The coefficients included in the weight function are obtained by finite element analyses for reference loadings. Critical angle at which mode I stress intensity factor becomes maximum is determined by analyzing the variation of stress intensity factors along incline angle of crack and the effects of the amount of clearance and crack depth on the critical angle are investigated.

  • 최근 기상이변이 빈번하여 자연재해에 대한 방재대책의 중요함이 절실히 요청되는 시점에서 수공구조물들의 설계빈도를 상향조정하는 등의 대책이 마련되고 있는 실정을 고려할 때 유역의 수문학적 안정성을 확보하기 위한 최적방안을 마련하는데 필요한 강우의 임계지속시간 결정에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 홍수제어를 위한 수공구조물은 그 특성상 계획홍수량 결정에 최대치 개념이 도입되어야 하므로, 설계강우의 지속기간을 결정할 경우 강우로 인한 최대유출과 홍수총량이 최대가 되는 임계지속기간을 이용하여 검토하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 합성단위도(Clark방법, Nakayasu방법, SCS방법)등 각 수문요소에 따른 임계지속기간의 변동양상을 파악한 길과 24시간 강우지속시간시 총유출량 보다 임계지속시간개념으로 산정한 유출량이 크게 산출되었으며, 시간분포모형(Huff의 4분위법, IDF곡선 분포법, Mononobe방법)별 적합성을 평가함으로써 수문설계시 활용 할 수 있는 자료를 제시하고자 하였다.

A Study on Image Binarization using Intensity Information (밝기 정보를 이용한 영상 이진화에 관한 연구)

  • The image binarization is applied frequently as one part of the preprocessing phase for a variety of image processing techniques such as character recognition and image analysis, etc. The performance of binarization algorithms is determined by the selection of threshold value for binarization, and most of the previous binarization algorithms analyze the intensity distribution of the original images by using the histogram and determine the threshold value using the mean value of Intensity or the intensity value corresponding to the valley of the histogram. The previous algorithms could not get the proper threshold value in the case that doesn't show the bimodal characteristic in the intensity histogram or for the case that tries to separate the feature area from the original image. So, this paper proposed the novel algorithm for image binarization, which, first, segments the intensity range of grayscale images to several intervals and calculates mean value of intensity for each interval, and next, repeats the interval integration until getting the final threshold value. The interval integration of two neighborhood intervals calculates the ratio of the distances between mean value and adjacent boundary value of two intervals and determine as the threshold value of the new integrated interval the intensity value that divides the distance between mean values of two intervals according to the ratio. The experiment for performance evaluation of the proposed binarization algorithm showed that the proposed algorithm generates the more effective threshold value than the previous algorithms.

저가 준결정질 붕소 분말의 밀링 및 탄소 도핑 처리에 따른 $MgB_2$ 초전도 임계전류밀도의 향상

  • 39 K의 임계온도를 갖는 $MgB_2$ 초전도체를 이용한 전력에너지와 MRI 의료 기기로의 응용 가능성이 높아지고 있다. $MgB_2$ 초전도체 제조에 있어서 마그네슘과 반응성이 좋은 비정질의 붕소 원료 분말 가격이 비싼 반면 상대적으로 경제적인 결정질 분말의 기계적 밀링 공정을 이용하여 비정질화와 나노 입자로의 크기 감소 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 또한 탄소를 이용한 붕소 치환으로부터 고 자기장하에서 초전도 임계 성질을 향상시키고자 유, 무기물 형태의 여러 가지 탄소 소스를 개발하는 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 저가의 95~97% 순도, 약 1 ${\mu}m$ 이하 크기를 갖는 준결정상의 붕소 분말을 이용하여 기계적 밀링에 따른 붕소 분말의 비정질화 및 입자 나노화, $MgB_2$ 반응성 향상, $MgB_2$ 결정립 크기 감소 및 결정립계 피닝 증가에 의한 초전도 임계 물성 향상에 대하여 알아보았다. 또한 여러 시간 동안 밀링된 각 붕소 분말에 액체 글리세린을 이용한 탄소 도핑 전처리를 통하여 밀링 시간의 최적화를 알아보았고 이로부터 제조된 $MgB_2$ 초전도 벌크의 경우 적절한 임계온도 감소, 격자 왜곡 결함과 높은 결정립계 밀도 등에 의한 플럭스 피닝 향상으로 $MgB_2$ 초전도체의 임계전류밀도 및 비가역자기장이 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 경제성 있는 저급의 준결정상을 갖는 붕소 원료 분말의 입자 비정질 나노화 및 탄소 도핑 전처리를 통하여 $MgB_2$ 초전도 임계 물성을 향상시킬 수 있었다.

Wavelet-Based Watermarking using Dynamic Threshold Values (동적 임계값을 적용한 웨이블렛 영역에서의 워터마킹)

  • 본 논문에서는 저작권 보호를 위하여 임계값을 이용한 워터마킹 기법을 제안한다 저작권을 보호하기 위하여 원 영상을 웨이블릿 변환하여 얻어진 웨이블렛 계수의 LSB(least significant bit)와 워터마크 영상을 동적 임계값을 적용하여 생성한 4장의 이진영상을 각 주파수 영역 HL1, LH1, HL2, LH2에서 XOR연산을 하여 워터마크를 삽입한다. 화질 열화가 많은 저주파 영역과 손실압축에 약한 고주파 영역을 제외한 영역에 워터마크를 삽입하였다. 실험결과로써, 화질의 열화가 적은 워터마크 삽입영상을 얻을 수 있었으며, 강인하게 워터마크가 추출이 되었다.

  • 임계노즐(critical nozzle)은 유동을 유로 최소단면부에서 초크시켜, 질량유량을 계측하기 위한 일종의 유체기구로, 최근 다양한 분야에서 널리 활용되고 있다. 압축성 기체역학의 관계식에 의하면, 임계노즐을 통하는 기체유동의 이론적인 질량유량은 노즐 목의 직경, 노즐 상류의 온도와 압력 그리고 기체의 비열비 등의 함수로 주어진다 그러나 실제 유동에서는 점성과 열전달 등의 초과로 인하여, 이론적 질량 유량과 실제유량의 비 즉 유출계수(discharge coefficient)의 값은 1.0으로 되지 않는다.

Performance Analysis of Frequent Pattern Mining with Multiple Minimum Supports (다중 최소 임계치 기반 빈발 패턴 마이닝의 성능분석)

  • Data mining techniques are used to find important and meaningful information from huge databases, and pattern mining is one of the significant data mining techniques. Pattern mining is a method of discovering useful patterns from the huge databases. Frequent pattern mining which is one of the pattern mining extracts patterns having higher frequencies than a minimum support threshold from databases, and the patterns are called frequent patterns. Traditional frequent pattern mining is based on a single minimum support threshold for the whole database to perform mining frequent patterns. This single support model implicitly supposes that all of the items in the database have the same nature. In real world applications, however, each item in databases can have relative characteristics, and thus an appropriate pattern mining technique which reflects the characteristics is required. In the framework of frequent pattern mining, where the natures of items are not considered, it needs to set the single minimum support threshold to a too low value for mining patterns containing rare items. It leads to too many patterns including meaningless items though. In contrast, we cannot mine any pattern if a too high threshold is used. This dilemma is called the rare item problem. To solve this problem, the initial researches proposed approximate approaches which split data into several groups according to item frequencies or group related rare items. However, these methods cannot find all of the frequent patterns including rare frequent patterns due to being based on approximate techniques. Hence, pattern mining model with multiple minimum supports is proposed in order to solve the rare item problem. In the model, each item has a corresponding minimum support threshold, called MIS (Minimum Item Support), and it is calculated based on item frequencies in databases. The multiple minimum supports model finds all of the rare frequent patterns without generating meaningless patterns and losing significant patterns by applying the MIS. Meanwhile, candidate patterns are extracted during a process of mining frequent patterns, and the only single minimum support is compared with frequencies of the candidate patterns in the single minimum support model. Therefore, the characteristics of items consist of the candidate patterns are not reflected. In addition, the rare item problem occurs in the model. In order to address this issue in the multiple minimum supports model, the minimum MIS value among all of the values of items in a candidate pattern is used as a minimum support threshold with respect to the candidate pattern for considering its characteristics. For efficiently mining frequent patterns including rare frequent patterns by adopting the above concept, tree based algorithms of the multiple minimum supports model sort items in a tree according to MIS descending order in contrast to those of the single minimum support model, where the items are ordered in frequency descending order. In this paper, we study the characteristics of the frequent pattern mining based on multiple minimum supports and conduct performance evaluation with a general frequent pattern mining algorithm in terms of runtime, memory usage, and scalability. Experimental results show that the multiple minimum supports based algorithm outperforms the single minimum support based one and demands more memory usage for MIS information. Moreover, the compared algorithms have a good scalability in the results.

Scene Change Detection by Statistical Method (통계적 기법을 이용한 장면 전환 검출)

  • 본 연구에서는 다양한 동영상내에서 장면전환 검출(Scene Change Detection(SCD))을 하기 위한 임계값 설정시, 전체 동영상을 임의적으로 120개의 프레임 단위로 구분 짓고 120개의 frame을 한 블록으로 하여 각 블록내의 프레임들로부터 얻어진 밝기 히스토그램 사이의 차이값을 데이터로 하여 통계적 기법으로 접근, 차이값의 평균과 표준편차를 이용한 각 블록내의 신뢰구간을 구함으로써 신뢰구간을 벗어나는 프레임은 SCD가 발생한 것으로 생각하였다. 또한 점진적 장면 전환검출시에는 점진적 장면 전환의 특징인 차이값의 분포를 이용하여 장면 전환 검출을 시도하였다. 따라서 SCD를 하기 위하여 사용되어지던 임계값 설정이 동영상에 따라 자동적으로 변화함으로써 임계값 설정의 어려움을 극복하여, 좀더 효율적인 SCO를 이루었으며, 정확도 면에서 급진적/점진적 장면 전환 검출율이 90% 이상의 결과를 보였다.
