  • The purpose of this study is to explore the science learning motivation of technical high school students through comparison with general high school students. 596 high school students and 1063 general high school students participated in the study. Three statistical methods were used for data analysis: two-way ANOVA, independent sample t-test, and Pearson correlation analysis. The results showed that the interaction between school type and grade had a significant effect on the difference of students' motivation for science learning. There was a significant difference in learning motivation among general high school students according to academic year, while there was no significant difference between first and second grader of technical high school students. Especially, technical high school students showed low level of science learning motivation compared to the students in general high school. The correlations among five motivational factors of science learning motivation were also significantly lower than that of general high school students. Lastly, the result of correlation analysis between science motivation and academic achievement showed that second year students in technical high school had less correlation coefficients than the first year students. Given these results, it is necessary to develop a educational strategy for enhancing science learning motivation of technical school students. We will discuss the direction of science education for technical high school based on our findings.

  • In this study, a programming class plan was designed for artificial intelligence education in technical high schools such as specialized high schools and Meister high schools. In elementary and middle schools or general high schools, it is not easy to secure the number of hours, so it is not easy to proceed with a lot of content and in-depth content. In addition, technical high schools have a good environment for nurturing human resources in the field of artificial intelligence. For this purpose, existing researches related to artificial intelligence education were explored, and programming classes related to artificial intelligence education were grafted into the units of the existing engineering high school programming classes.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine self esteem and reactions on LMT projective technique to a group of scientifically gifted high school students and general high school students. For that purpose, 113 participants from scientifically gifted high school and general high school were asked to fill out self esteem questionnaire and draw a LMT. The results were analyzed by using SPSS.PASW18. The results are as follows: First, overall self esteem of gifted students were higher than general students. Second, reactions on LMT of gifted students and general students were examined. As a result, there were statistically significant differences in four items; integration of landscape composition, expression of distance and space, number of additional items, existence of doors and windows. The result of this study showed significant differences between the two groups in self esteem and LMT scores.

  • The purpose of this research was on the operation activation for specialized high schools in Chungcheongbuk-do, and conducted a survey of chief teachers of Practical Art Subject and heads of each subjects in 32 specialized high schools in district about the system reform of vocational high school, promotion of characterization for each subject, modification of curriculum, reinforcement of direction guide, of which results were analyzed. Also, another survey of small and middle businesses was conducted to investigate the demand for human resources for industrial businesses in Chungcheongbuk-do and specialized abilities required by companies. Through the study, the reform of operation activation for specialized high schools in Chungcheongbuk-do were suggested as follows. First, Specialized high schools should more focus on educating application of a computer and the basic abilities in foreign language at the request of industry. Second, If more than 80% of vocational high school graduates go to junior colleges or universities, specialized high schools should reform their operation like general high schools. Third, Specialized high schools should expand the operation of customized curriculum for neighboring industry to raise employment rate. Fourth, Specialized high schools in Chungcheongbuk-do should reform their courses which can provide students with fundamental knowledge to work in industry related to BT and IT, as Osong medical complex and Ochang IT industrial complex are expanding gradually. Fifth, Employees in companies should be applied as guest teachers, and the principal should have a right to autonomy to operate their own curriculum. Sixth, 5 years rotation system for public schools should be revised to more than 10 years rotation system for special subjects in specialized high schools. Therefore, teachers will have ownership of the school by the revised system.

  • In this study, a data science class plan was designed for the high school credit system in general high schools. Since it is difficult to secure class hours in elementary and middle schools or general high schools, learners cannot freely take new subjects such as data science. Therefore, a lesson plan was designed based on the ADDIE model for 15 students who applied for data science at general high schools in A city. Through this study, it was possible to design the data science class according to the learning method.

  • The purposes of this study is to verify additional demand of students for secondary vocational education, and draw political implications. To meet the purposes, firstly we analyzed current policies on the secondary vocational education. Second, we divided additional demand of students for secondary vocational education into practical and potential demand. Practical demand by students who would like to take further vocational education in secondary education system includes students who hoped to enter vocational high school however they failed to go, the first or second year students who transferred from general high school to vocational high school, and the third year students who are in general high school would like to take commissioned vocational courses. Potential demand is an additional demand for secondary vocational education in a society perspective. This includes a student who downgraded employment even though they entered college or university after graduated general high-school. Comparing the result of this study with the entrance quota of vocational high-school, additional demand of students for secondary vocational education showed that accounted for 61.2 percent of the entrance quota year 2015. Specifically, potential demand accounts for 31.7 percent of the entrance quota for vocational high school and practical demand accounts for 29.5 percent.

  • The purpose of this study was to monitor evaluation in science education at primary and secondary school in Korea. In order to do this, the survey was administered. The subject was 518 teachers; 292 elementary school teachers, 110 middle school science teachers and 116 general high school science teachers. It was found that the ratio of paper examination increased while that of performance evaluation decreased according to the grade of school. In the science paper examination, the ratio of selection type item was higher than that of supply type item, and the ratio of item belonging to knowledge area was higher than that of item belonging to the inquiry area regardless of the grade of school, teaching career, and teacher's gender. The teachers recognized the necessity of supply type item, but they suffered from the reliability of the result of that item. And it was hard for them to do performance evaluation because it took much time and effort. This study suggested that the high-quality in-service teacher training be provided and laboratory assistants who help the science experiment and grading test papers be employed in order to fulfil the performance evaluation and increase the ratio of supply type item and items belonging to the inquiry area.
