Control of Wastewater Treatment Removing Phosphate Based on ASM No. 2 Simplified Model and Investigation of Luxury Uptake Limitation (ASM No. 2 간략화 모델에 기초한 인산염의 제어 및 인섭취 제한현상에 대한 고찰)

  • Phosphate is the limiting factor leading to the eutrophication in nature and has been usually removed by the luxury uptake of PAOs(Phosphate accumulating organisms). The purpose of this study was the control of wastewater treatment removing phosphorus. The control of wastewater treatment process was performed by optimal and adaptive control. They were performed as followings. Firstly the inflow phosphate concentration was measured and the optimal aeration time was calculated by simplified ASM No. 2 for the phosphate to be 1.0 mg/L in effluent. It was optimal control. But when the phosphate concentration in effluent was not 1.0 mg/L, adaptive control was necessary to coincide the objective of control with real value. Then it was performed as the objective phosphate concentration in effluent was changed according to calculation of errors and it was adaptive control. The wastewater treatment process had been controlled by them for about one month. The range of phosphate concentration in effluent 0.2$\sim$3.2 mg/L and the average of it was 1.0 mg/L. The limitation of luxury uptake occurred two times while wastewater treatment process was running. After the analysis of laboratory tests, we knew the reasons were the shortage of ammonia nitrogen and the excessive aeration.

  • 애완동물의 건강유지, 생산성향상, 질병유발 및 치유경과에 미치는 영양과 식이요법의 중요성은 최근 20여년동안에 수의술에 크게 증대되어왔다. 대부분의 애완동물가는 영양관리에 관하여 관행적인 먹이 급여 이외에는 어떤 전문지식을 가지고 있지 않다. 1988년에 퓨리나코리아가 애견용 고형사료를 생산한 이래 백화점의 식품코너에서 애완동물용 사료를 쉽게 접할 수 있게 되었다. 식품으로 급여되는 과잉 영양성 골격계이상과 뇨석증, taurin 결핍과 중심 망막퇴행성 변화및 확장성 심근증의 유발등 소위'nutritional disease',그리고 만성신부전증 치료관리에서 단백질과 인섭취의 제한 ,뇨석증과 간질환의 식이적 조절등은 대표적인 응용예로서 이미 소동물임상에서 일반화되었다. 그러나 우리나라의 경우는 애완동물의 먹이와 식이요법에 관한 전문지식을 학교교육에서 얻지 못함으로 애견가 관리에 많은 문제점이 노출되고 있다. 여기에서는 위와 같은 관점에서 개업수의사에게 필요한 일반지식을 기술하였다.

The relationship of ready-to-eat cereal consumption with nutrition and health status in the Korean population based on the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2012 (한국인의 시리얼 섭취실태와 영양 및 건강상태와의 관련성 연구 - 2012년도 국민건강영양조사 자료를 이용하여 -)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore the relationship of ready-to-eat cereal (RTEC) consumption with nutrition and health status. Examination of health status for this project included obesity, abdominal obesity, hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, low-HDL-cholesterolemia, diabetes, anemia, and metabolic syndrome. Methods: Two groups, RTEC consumers and those who did not consume RTEC, were identified using 24-hour dietary recall data from the 2012 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Nutritional intakes and risk factors of the two groups were compared using covariates-adjusted statistical procedures. Statistical analyses were performed using SAS survey procedures, and strata, cluster, and weight were considered. Subjects of analysis of nutritional intake were between the ages of 1 and 75, and those considered in the risk factor analysis were between the ages of 19 and 75. Results: Results showed that 3.8% of the Korean population was RTEC consumers. Compared to the subjects who did not intake RTEC, RTEC consumers exhibited significantly higher intakes of calcium, thiamin, riboflavin, and vitamin C. It was also discovered that the percentage of people whose intakes were less than EAR decreased with RTEC consumption. RTEC consumption showed significant association with decreased systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, serum triglyceride, and serum total cholesterol. Consequently, prevalence of hypertension among RTEC consumers was significantly lower than that among non-consumers, and the odds ratio for hypertension was 0.19 after adjusting the models for covariates. Conclusion: Results of this study clearly suggest an association of RTEC consumption with improved nutritional status and cardiometabolic risk profile in Korean adults. Conduct of additional studies will be necessary in order to determine the nature of these relationships.

  • Excess sugar intake by food consumption may contribute to the development of diabetes, dental caries, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and cardiovascular disease. The objective of this study was to investigate the sugar intake from meals at nursery schools in Gyeonggi-Do, and to construct a database for reduction policies sugar intake. A total of 601 samples were analyzed for sugar intake in summer and winter, respectively. The average sugar intake from food service was 2.22 g/meal, which was 5% of the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI). Furthermore, the analysis results of sugar content were in the decreasing order of fruits (5.05 g/100 g), fried food (2.92 g/100 g), and braised food (2.31 g/100 g). The habit of excessive sugar intake in childhood can be threaten health in adulthood. Thus, it is necessary for nursery school children to consume schoolmeals that contain less sugar.

Analysis of health habit and hair mineral nutrition status of media addicted adolescent (미디어중독 청소년의 스마트폰 사용의존도에 따른 건강습관 및 모발 무기질 영양상태 분석)

  • Purpose: Koreans' internet and smartphone usage hours are steadily increasing and the dependence of young people on smartphones is causing social problems. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine health and dietary habits, as well as hair mineral contents according to the level of dependence of smartphone use among adolescents to clarify the interrelation of smartphone dependence, lifestyle, dietary behavior, and mineral nutrition status. Methods: A total of 80 smartphone-addicted adolescents participated in this study and were divided into three groups (general, potential and danger group) according to smartphone dependence. The subjects' lifestyles and dietary behaviors were then surveyed, and hair mineral contents were analyzed. Results: Higher smartphone dependence was associated with lower average weekly sleeping time and later first smoking age. In the danger group, the rate of eating fast and the rate of snacking twice a day was also relatively high. Parents (45.0%) and mobile (30.0%) were the factors having the greatest influence on an individual's dietary behavior. In the hair mineral analysis, all subjects had lower selenium concentrations and higher lead concentrations than normal. In addition, the levels of aluminum in the danger group were higher than in the normal range and the highest among the three groups. Conclusions: It is necessary to guide adolescents to use smartphones correctly and manage dietary habits. In addition, careful attention is needed the mineral nutritional status of smartphone-addicted adolescents.
