  • The purpose of this study is to verify the educational effectiveness of interaction design in mobile APP by observing the impact of interaction design for elementary school education on enhancing learning immersion and continuous use intention, and propose an interaction design scheme based on elementary school education APP. The research methods are literature research and questionnaire survey. Specifically, through the literature research method, the concepts and prior studies on the concept, reviews the continuous use intention and previous research of interaction design. Then, conducts a questionnaire survey on elementary school students in South Korea and China to understand the interaction design, learning immersion, and continuous use intention, and analyzes the relationship between variables. The research result of this study is to observe the influence of interaction design elements within interaction on learning immersion and continuous use intention with elementary school students who are users of elementary school education application as the objects. The results show that interaction design within interaction has a positive impact on improving learning immersion and continuous use intention. It can be thought that this is because in mathematics/science education, it is easy to understand theoretical concepts or explanations, and stories and images will be continued at each stage to help students learn without being bored. In conclusion, this study can confirm that interactive inline design has a positive effect of enabling learners to engage in learning and continue to use.

  • Recently, due to the development of interactive media, Interactive Typography, which explores user input and interaction is under development. Unlike traditional typography which has a fixed nature, the flexible and fluid nature of Interactive Typography and Interactive System, enables diverse results. In this study, I have developed an Interactive Typography art piece based on theoretical research. By reviewing books, papers and articles, I have tried to define the meaning and characteristics of Interactive Typography. In understanding the concept of Interactive System, I have borrowed the concept of mathematical function. Based on the research, I have designed and developed an Interactive Typography piece, 'Interactive floral type' by using Adobe flash action script. This piece explores the beautiful shape of each alphabet letters and transforms individual character into a 'flower' shape through user's mouse and keyboard input. Depending on the input the size, color, and layout and motion of text changes in real time to change the letters into beautiful flowers.

  • This study suggest the development and application of the Interactive Design Toolkit as a participatory design method for general customer who are non-expert on design activity to participate in design process of mass customization. In order to let general customers to express their design needs, we have to make a familiar and direct communication method for them. And, customer's design needs should be transformed into digital media. This study define the Interactive Design Toolkit as a design tool for customer participation by direct manipulation of computer system for simulation of design needs by customer themselves. The Interactive Design Toolkit is based on a PC-based image perception system and its application. User can make virtual models in virtual space by manipulating physical objects in real world. And, The toolkit can be used in the field of participatory design for deliverer side customization, especially in system kitchen which is manufactured and distributed in modular system. More improved design toolkit for manipulating 3 dimensional shape is needed for consumer product design and car styling.

  • As the need for more variety of interactive media grows, alternative interaction methods beyond conventional ones such as mice and keyboards are vigorously explored recently. In particular, these new approaches are getting attentions because they can enhance the user experiences in the interaction. Howerver, since they are case-dependent and specific, it still becomes crucial to consider and evaluate the effects and possibilities of interactions. The study aims to explore the ways to design the interactions by applying Behavioral Prototyping Methods in the initial stage of design development, which it calls 'Interactive Prototyping Method'. With the case project, 'Shadow Theater', which is an interactive installation for children, children can play and participate in interactive story-making by wearing hand puppets, casting shadows of hand puppets, and interacting with virtual objects on screen. To explore and design the interactions of Shadow Theater at the initial design process, the study builds an interactive prototype which borrows puppet theater settings and lets children play with hand puppets and other objects. The session of user try-outs with the prototype help to understand what and how they interact with virtual objects, and to improve the interactions.

  • With the recent development of ICT, diverse ICT-related fields are being developed and undergoing changes. Numerous researches are being actively conducted on the interactions between users, devices, and computers. Such interaction is now being applied to furniture; interactive furniture are on the rise with which humans can interact with their furniture. This study focused on such interactive furniture and purported to give some pointers to future research on the interaction between users and furniture. This study implemented a user diary on furniture use to analyze user tasks. By using affinity diagram analysis ideation workshop, user tasks were identified and analyzed. The analysis revealed that the future direction for interactive furniture should be automation an complexation. This study is significant in the following two aspects: 1) having suggested future directions for interactive furniture, and 2) serving as foundational data for future research on interactive furniture.

  • This study aims to define the basic design elements of a sonic interactive object and relate them with the different metaphor types including physical metaphor, gestural metaphor, sound metaphor, and embodied metaphor that are reflected on the interface, gesture, sound, and embodied experience. It discusses how the concept mapping can be effectively done by utilizing metaphor and considering the relationships between the types of metaphor when designing a sonic interactive object. This study has a significance in the aspect that it expanded the area of metaphor to embodied experience and subdivided the types of metaphor including visual, sound, gestural and tactile information. Furthermore, it attempted to analyze the design elements of a sonic interactive object in relation to the types of metaphor. A researcher or a designer, therefore, can use this study as a reference to design concept mapping of a sonic interactive object, in a way that the design elements and metaphor types work together effectively to enable a visitor to recognize what they are expected to do with the object more intuitively.
