In the present knowledge and information society, every citizen can enjoy benefits of various advanced technologies such as information and communication technology(ICT) and smart technology. Nowadays everybody has to have some level of information literacy and application ability in order to enjoy benefits from various advanced technologies. In additions, knowledge and practice will about information and communication ethics are also required for all. Currently we need some kind of standards to evaluate and model everybody's information literacy and application capability. In this sense, information culture index has been developed to check information literacy and application capability of every citizen for various aspects of daily life. Information culture index consists of three standards, that is, application, awareness, and norm, respectively. Application standard indicates how information contents and skills are generalized for all. In other words, it is concerned with how every citizen can understand information literacy and use information skills in his or her daily life. Awareness standard is concerned with how well everyone can respect and trust others in the current information culture community. Norm standard is concerned with how everyone can use information communication services according to his or her desirable sense of information and communication ethics. The purpose of this paper is to analyze correlation between academic background and three standards of information culture index, that is, application, awareness, and norm. For this purpose, we use 2-year national survey works for information culture. After thorough statistical analysis, we can conclude that, awareness and norm standards do not show a meaningful correlation with academic background while application standard shows a meaningful correlation with academic background, It means that, the higher academic background one has, the higher application standard one can achieve. We expect that our correlation analysis results can be helpful to spread of information education and information culture in the future.

Purpose: This study was done to identify the status of smartphone addiction among nursing students and to examine the mediating effects of Internet ethics on the relationship between smartphone addiction, physical symptoms and psychological well-being. Methods: Data were collected between May 20 and June 23, 2014. Participants were a convenience sample of 214 nursing students of one university in Seoul. Structured questionnaires were used to measure degree of smartphone addiction, physical symptoms, psychological well-being and Internet ethics. Data was analyzed using Independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple hierarchical regression. Results: Of the nursing students, 14.5% had high level of risk of smartphone addiction and 16.8% had potential risk. Higher frequency of physical symptoms and lower level of Internet ethics were related to the higher level of smartphone addiction. Voluntary-control in Internet ethics had mediating effects on the relationship between smartphone addiction and physical symptoms. Conclusion: The results suggest that the level of smartphone addiction may lowered in nursing students by intensifying Internet ethics especially voluntary-control. Based on these findings, Internet ethics program for nursing students should be developed to facilitate the effective use of smartphones.

At present, we are at the point of change of the 4th industrial revolution era due to the development of artificial intelligence(AI) and rapid technological innovation that no one can predict until now. This study started from the question of 'What role should home economics education play in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution?'. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is characterized by AI, cloud computing, Internet of Things(IoT), big data, and Online to Offline(O2O). It will drastically change the social system, science and technology and the structure of the profession. Since the dehumanization of robots and artificial intelligence may occur, the 4th Industrial Revolution Education should be sought to foster future human resources with humanity and citizenship for the future community. In addition, the implication of education in the fourth industrial revolution, which will bring about a change to a super-intelligent and hyper-connected society, is that the role of education should be emphasized so that humans internalize their values as human beings. Character education should be established as a generalized and internalized consciousness with a concept established in the integration of the curriculum, and concrete practical strategies should be prepared. In conclusion, home economics education in the 4th industrial revolution era should play a leading role in the central role of character education, and intrinsic improvement of various human lives. The fourth industrial revolution will change not only what we do, or human mental and physical activities, but also who we are, or human identity. In the information society and digital society, it is important how quickly and accurately it is possible to acquire scattered knowledge. In the information society, it is required to learn how to use knowledge for human beings in rapid change. As such, the fourth industrial revolution seeks to lead the family, organization, and community positively by influencing the systems that shape our lives. Home economics education should take the lead in this role.
