Comparing the Effects of Visual and Visual-auditory Feedback on Eco-driving and Driving Workload (시각적 피드백과 시각-청각적 피드백이 에코 드라이빙과 운전부하에 미치는 상대적 효과)

  • Recent studies have suggested that providing in-vehicle feedback on various driving behaviors promote eco-friendly driving behaviors. However, there was relatively little interest in cognitive overload that can be caused by the provision of information. Thus, the goal of this study was to investigate the relative effects of two types of feedback(visual feedback vs. visual-auditory feedback) to increase eco-driving performance while minimizing driving workload. Also, in this study, the complexity of the driving task was distinguished (secondary vs. tertiary task) in order to reflect the actual driving situation. The study adopted a counterbalancing design in which the two feedback types were delivered in a different order under the two different task conditions. Results showed that providing the visual-auditory feedback was more effective than the visual only feedback in both promoting eco-friendly driving behaviors and minimizing driving workload under both task conditions.

Conceptual Metaphor based on Embodied Cognition (체현 인지에 기반한 개념 메타포에 관한 연구)

  • The existing interface study has been focused on rhetorical metaphor based on a cognitive viewpoint in traditional objectivism. But the existing study viewpoint about the interface shows logical limitation by the changes in media environment. This study suggests conceptual metaphor based on embodied cognition for an alternative to solve the limitation, and research logical suitability of the existing interface environment. The result of this study is as follow; The first, the embodied cognitive viewpoint provides the interface as a space for holistic recognition communication, and the conceptual metaphor based on embodied cognition provides a well-structured metaphor logic and is a suitable metaphor to explain complicated metaphor structure. The second, the container image schema provides concrete and detailed metaphor structure than previous metaphor when it comes to explaining desktop metaphor by offering subsidiary image schema from 'IN-OUT-BOUNDARY' image schema. The third, path image schema is possible to make a concrete logic and works off the laxity and confusion of logical structure in existing metaphor by offering subsidiary image schema from 'SOURCE-PATH-GOAL' image schema. The conceptual metaphor based on embodied cognition is expected to be a basic theory to explain interfaces for various media environment by thinking of human physical experience as container and path image schema.

A Study on the Influencing Factors of Continuous Usage Intention for a Scenario based FAQ Service regarding on Private Information Protection (개인정보보호에 관한 시나리오 기반 질의응답서비스 품질이 이용의도에 미치는 요인에 관한 연구)

  • The paper studies the influencing factors of continuous usage intention for a scenario based cognitive FAQ service regrading on private information protection. The research result finds that three major factors are significantly positive to the continuous usage intention for the service. First, search easiness is an essential factor and it can be improved using sophisticate categorization. Second, Scenario based FAQ service is effective on understanding and solving questioner's situation. Related information is helpful for problem solving. The research shows that the new approach to private information protection area can lead to a more acceptable and reasonable problem solving tool.

  • 본 연구는 시선 추적 방법(Eye-Tracking Method)을 이용한 디지털 컨버전스 제품의 정보 설계 및 평가에 관한 방법론을 제시하였다. Eye-tracking 데이터는 visual search의 효율성 뿐 아니라 타겟의 유의미성이나 가시성등을 측정하는데 유익하다. 응시 횟수와 응시 시간을 통하여 사용자의 심성 모형에 따른 시선 행위와 제품 메뉴 구조간의 전체적인 일치도를 정량적으로 분석하였고, 각 메뉴 item의 세부적인 인지 반응 정도를 평가하였다. 컨버전스 제품의 한 예로 휴대폰을 선정하여 실험을 실시하였으며, 활성화 확산 실험(SAT)을 수행하여 메뉴 항목 상호간의 인지반응 정도를 통한 문제점을 도출한 후 사용자 시나리오를 작성하였다. 1차 테스트를 통하여 피실험자의 시나리오 수행 시 어려움을 알 수 있었으며, 1차 테스트의 결과와 인터뷰 결과를 바탕으로 프로토타입의 메뉴명을 개선하여 2차 테스트를 실시하였다. 실험 결과 개선 전보다 후의 응시 횟수, 응시 시간 또한 감소하여 수행도가 향상됨으로 메뉴 구조의 개선된 결과를 가져왔다. 본 연구는 인간의 눈 움직임 측정치 결과를 토대로 사용자 심성 모형에 부합하여 누구나 접근이 쉬운 정보 구조를 설계할 수 있었다. 그러므로 본 연구에서 제시하는 Eye-tracking Method는 디지털 컨버전스로 인한 복잡한 정보 구조의 설계와 평가에 기여할 것으로 보인다.

Hangul Character Recognition Using Fuzzy Reasoning:Hangul Character Type Classification by Maximum Run Length Projenction (퍼지추론을 이용한 한글 문자 인식:최대 길이 투영에 의한 한글 문자 유형 분류)

  • The purpose of this paper is to classify the types of input characters,printed Hangul characters,using Maximum Run Length Projection(MRLP)that is used to extract features of input character.Because the number of Hangul characters is large and its structure is complex,there exists close similarities among characters.This paper,therefore,tried to increment the type classification rate using fuzzy resoning.The Maximum Run Length Projection is very immune to noise,and also useful to extracting the demanding information efficiently.In a test case with the most frequently use 917 printed Hangul characters,it achieved 98.58%correct classification rate.

  • Blockchain is a core technology to solve personal information leakage and data management issues, which are limitations of existing Genomic Sequencing services. Due to continuous cost reduction and deregulation, the market size of Genomic Sequencing has been increasing, also the potential of services is expected to increase when Blockchain's security and connectivity are combined. We created our research model by combining the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Innovation Resistance Theory also analyzed the factors affecting the acceptance intention and innovation resistance of the Blockchain Based Genomic Sequencing Information Platform. A survey was conducted on 150 potential users of Blockchain and Genomic Sequencing services. The analysis was conducted by setting the four Blockchain variables: Security, transparency, availability, and diversity). Also, we set the Perceived Usefulness, Perceived risk, and Perceived Complexity for Technology Acceptance and Innovation Resistance variables and analyzed the effect of the characteristics of the Blockchain on acceptance intention and innovation resistance through these variables. Through this analysis, key variables that need to be considered important to reduce resistance and increase acceptance intention could be identified. This study presents innovation factors that should be considered in companies preparing a new Blockchain Based Genomic Sequencing Information Platform.

Validation-based Clustering Algorithm (유효성 기반 군집화 알고리즘)

  • 본 논문에서는 군집화의 가장 중요한 2가지 문제에 대한 새로운 해결책을 제시한다. 첫 번째 문제는 두 객체가 하나의 군집내에 포함될 수 있는지를 결정하는 유사 결정으로써, 이를 해결하기 위해 군집 유효화 지수에 기반한 유사 결정 기법을 제안한다. 이 기법은 정성적인 인지 과정을 정량적인 비교 결정 과정으로 바꾼다 이 기법은 본 논문에서 제안한 랜덤 군집화와 전체 군집화의 두 부분으로 구성된 유효성 기반 군집화 알고리즘의 핵심을 이루며. 기존의 않은 군집화 알고리즘에서 요구되는 복잡한 파라미터를 결정할 필요가 없어지도록 한다. 두 번째 문제는 최적 군집 수 (optimal number of clusters)를 찾는 것으로써, 이것 또한 앞에서 제안한 기법에 의해서 전체 군집화에서 찾을 수 있다. 마지막으로 제안한 기법과 군집화 알고리즘의 효용성 및 효율성을 보여주는 실험 결과가 제시된다.

  • The strategic decision makers of the firm have faced with uncertainty and complexity. Although they must make decision under these environments, they can't have enough time, man power, budget and knowledge that they need to decide. They can't, therefore, help getting supports by experts who have implicit knowledge about the domain. But it is difficult for them to find any other procedures and methods to create, transform, combine, and apply new knowledges, whenever decision makers face the problem This paper provides a new method to support a strategic decision making by using the knowledge transformation process suggested by Nonaka. We illustrate an application case of the strategic decision making in consulting industry. This paper uses cognitive map as a decision support technology based on the suggested method.

Effects of Initiation and Perceived Similarity on the Evaluation of Online Communities (온라인 커뮤니티 속 가입절차 및 지각된 유사성에 따른 평가의 차이)

  • Nowadays, it is hard to imagine one's life without smart phones or the internet. Furthermore, not only do people form groups offline, but also online. Based on the cognitive dissonance theory, there have been many studies about how an offline group's initiation affects attitudes toward the group. However, there has not been a study about how an online group's initiation can affect attitudes toward the group. Therefore, this study aims to find out how cognitive dissonance aroused by initiation affects the attitudes toward the online community, which represents groups that are formed online. In addition, this study examined how perceived similarity affects changes in attitude aroused by cognitive dissonance. Participants were assigned to a group in three ways as follows: without a registration process, with a simple registration process, and/or with a complex registration process. Perceived similarity was calculated by the difference between the current body mass index (BMI) and the target BMI of the participant. Attitudes toward the online group were measured by perceived source credibility, perceived information quality, satisfaction, information usefulness, and continuance intention. Contrary to the cognitive dissonance theory, the results showed that when applied to offline social groups, there were conflicting results. There were cases where there was no difference in the evaluation between initiation conditions. However, other cases showed that groups with the most complex registration process were found to have the worst evaluation. People were more favorable toward the group when the perceived similarity was larger. Interestingly, people who had higher perceived similarity had more positive attitudes toward the groups that had been assigned with a registration process compared to the group formed without a registration process. Conversely, people with lower perceived similarity had more positive attitudes toward the group when there was no initiation process. Online communities may use the results of this study to design more suitable registration processes for their communities.

A Formal Model and a Design of Inference Engine for Context-Aware Mobile Computing (컨텍스트 인지 모바일 컴퓨팅을 위한 정형모델 및 추론 시스템 설계)

  • Context-aware mobile computing has become the primary approach to realize automatic, autonomous, and user-centric computing in the context of largely increasing the amount of mobile devices used that embed available sensors. However, designing an inference engine nonetheless requires the tasks of analyzing contexts, situations that can be inferred, etc. Moreover, a mobile device has limited resources and limited computation capability, which results in recognizing the common sense of its unsuitable environment for processing inference. Hence, we propose context-situation reasoning elements and their formal models in this paper, and we verify the formal models' applicability by applying them to an example. Finally, we design and implement an inference engine that realize the context-situation inference elements in computing environment, and we experiment an example by using the proposed inference engine to verify applicability and reusability of the inference engine.
