Experimental Study on Ultimate Tensile Failure Properties of Laminated Rubber Bearings (적층고무받침의 극한인장파괴 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Laminated rubber bearing is the most commonly used device for seismic base isolation of bridge structures. It is important to know performance and behavior characteristics of the laminated rubber bearings. The main evaluation factors of the rubber bearing are classified as compressive, shear and tensile behavior characteristics. The reference data of compressive and shear characteristics are rich, but the reference data of tensile characteristics is scarce. In this study, tensile test results of the rubber bearing with variation of shape factor and shear deformation are investigated for mechanical property. When tensile deformation in normal condition is increasing, tensile cycle behavior curve becomes non-linear and tensile breaking point is 300%. On the other hand, tensile breaking point is shear deformation condition is about 40%. Furthermore, when shape factor is lower, tensile breaking point is decrease. This results mean that tensile breaking point is decreased in triaxial tensile deformation because of cracks caused by internal void of the rubber bearings. This experimental data can be used as the reference data of tensile characteristics for designing seismic isolation of structures.

  • 본 연구에서는 파괴형상의 특성을 이용하여 암석인장강도 측정실험법의 적용성을 평가하여Tekl. 이를 위해 화강암 및 석회암 시료를 대상으로 하여 점하중 시험법, Brazilian 시험법을 통해 인장파괴를 유도하였다. 각 파괴면의 형상을 분석하였고, Hoop 시험법의 경우 이론적인 응력분포와 함께 해석하였다. 파괴면 형상의 특징은 향후 시추코어의 파괴면 해석, 야외조사시 절리면의 파괴 해석 등에 이용될 수 있다.

  • 열경화성 수지를 사용한 복합재료의 연구결과들을 종합하여 보면 인장강도에 영향을 미치는 인자에 대한 다양한 연구결과가 있으나, 섬유함유율과 온도에 따른 인장파괴기구에 대한 고찰은 아직 희박한 실정이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 열가소성 복합재료의 기계적 특성과 파괴거동에 관한 종합적인 연구의 일환으로 섬유함유율이 10%인 GF/PE 복합재료를 -5$0^{\circ}C$에서 6$0^{\circ}C$사이의 온도범위에서 인장시험을 통하여 임계 파괴에너지의 거동을 고찰하고, 각각의 온도범위에서의 파단면을 SEM사진을 통해 비교 검토하였다.   • The wheelset, an assembly of wheel and axle, is one of important parts in railway bogie, directly related with the running safety of railway rolling stock. In this investigation, the tensile failure behavior of railway axle materials was investigated. The tensile coupons were prepared from the actual rolling stock parts, which were operated over 20 years. The tensile testing was performed according to the KS guideline. During tensile testing, an infrared camera was employed to monitor temperature changes in specimen as well as demonstrate temperature contour in terms of infrared thermographic images. The thermographic images of tensile specimens showed comparable results with mechanical behavior of tensile materials. In this paper, the failure mode and behavior of railway axle materials were provided with the aid of infrared thermography technique.

  • 초지와 인쇄시의 지절은 생산성 또는 운전성의 저하를 야기하므로 최소화해야 한다. 지종에 따라 초지조건이 달라지므로 종이에 가해지는 인장력, 함수율, 초지속도 등을 고려해야 한다. 종이에 있어서 결점 부근에서 일어나는 항복(yield)과 파괴현상을 파괴역학적 관점에서 연구한 바 있다. 초지공정은 섬유 매트 또는 습지에서 점차적으로 수분이 제거되는 과정이며, 인쇄공정은 종이에 물이 가해지는 과정이 있으나, 파괴인성 측면에서 동일한 이론을 적용할 수 있다. 박과 이는 초지시 섬유의 특성, 미세분의 종류 및 함량에 따른 인장 특성 및 파괴 특성에 관한 연구에서 Sw-BKP의 경우 섬유의 파괴가 유도되고, Hw-BKP의 경우 결합면의 파괴가 유도되는 것으로 나타났으며, 미세분 특성에 따른 시험 결과 파괴 인성은 섬유간 실제적 결합이 유도되는 경우 파괴 인성의 향상을 가져올 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 파괴 역학은 결점 부위의 응력집중 현상에 따른 독특한 파괴 거동으로 지합등과 같은 응력 확산 효과를 기대할 수 없기 때문에 섬유간 실제적인 결합에 직접적으로 의존한다고 할 수 있다.

  • Concrete plasticity models fol the analysis of reinforced concrete members in plane stress are studied. The proposed plasticity model for reinforced concrete provides a unified approach combining plasticity theory and damage models. It addresses strength mhancement under rnultiaxial compression. and tensile cracking damage. The model uses multiple failure criteria for compressive crushing and tensile cracking. For tensile cracking behavior. rotating-crack and fixed-crack plasticity models are compared. As crushing failure criterion, the Drucker-Prager and the von Mises models are used for comparison. The model uses now and existing damnge models fbr tension softening, tension stiffening. and compression softening dup to tensilt. cracking. Finite element analyses using the unified method are compatxd with existing rxpcrimcntal r.esults. To vei.ify the proposcd crushing and cracking plasticity models, the experiments have load capacities govc11.nc.d either by compressive crushing of'concrete or by yi~lding of' reinforcing steel.

  • 내압을 받는 압력관의 파괴는 원주방향의 응력이 주된 요인이므로, 압력관의 안전성을 평가를 위해서는 원주방향의 인장특성을 아는 것이 필요하다. 소형 압력관의 인장특성을 평가할 때, 정확한 원주방향의 인장특성을 알기 위해서는 관으로 가공된 후의 재료로 시험해야 하지만, 부피의 제약으로 인하여 원주방향으로의 표준 인장시험편을 제작하지 못하므로 가공하기 전의 재료의 물성치를 사용하고 있다. 이를 개선하고자 원주방향의 인장특성을 평가하기 위한 방법의 하나로 링 시험법(ring test)이 있다.(중략)

Tensile Properties of Metal Plate Connector in Domestic Softwood Lumber (국산 침엽수 철물접합부의 인장하중 특성)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the tensile properties of metal plate connector for the domestic major softwoods, such as Korean red pine, Korean white pine, and Japanese larch. The maximum tensile load of Korean red pine was 3,612kgf in AA type, it was 1.2 and 1.7 times higher load than that of Japanese larch and Korean white pine. In EA type, it was 2,704kgf, and 1.1 and 1.5 times higher than the loads of Japanese larch and Korean white pine. The failure modes of metal plate connector were metal plate withdrawal, plate tensile failure, and wood shear block failure. The failure mode of Korean red pine connector was tensile failure of plate, that is reason of the high tensile load resistance for metal plate connections in Korean red pine. The mechanical properties of metal plate connector could be predicted by the Foschi model parameter. In the initial stage, the Korean red pine connector was stiffer than the other species. The design values for metal plate connector per tooth was 25, 22, and 15kgf for Korean red pine, Japanese larch, and Korean white pine in AA type and 19, 17, and 13kgf in EA type.

Fractography of Sound and Tension Woods of Quercus mongolica by Shear and Bending Stress (신갈나무 정상재와 인장이상재의 전단 및 휨 파면해석)

  • This study has been carried out to understand the fracture characteristics of the tension wood of Quercus mongolica under the shear and bending stress. Macroscopically, the wood fluff in the shear surface appeared more frequently in tension wood than sound wood, and more coarse wood fluffs were observed in 30% than 10% moistured shear surface. In the fractured tension wood from bending stress, more thick and long wood fiber appeared than sound wood. The observation using scanning electron microscope indicated that both sound and tension wood samples from radial shear surface showed the intrawall dominated failure and the fracture surface of the ray parenchyma cell showed the transwall dominated failure. In tangential shear surface, wood fiber surface showed the intrawall failure and short and coarse wood fiber was observed in tension wood. Ray parenchyma cell of sound and tension wood samples showed the transwall failure. The surfaces of tension wood’s ray parenchyma cell were relatively clean. The fractured tension wood from bending stress showed unsharp and flat wood fiber compared with sound wood.

Strength and Failure Mode Prediction of Mechanically Fastened Carbon/Epoxy Joints (탄소/에폭시 복합재료 구조물의 기계적 결합에 대한 강도 및 파손모드 예측)

  • An investigation was performed to study the predicting the joint strength of mechanical fasteners. Bearing failure is most important failure mode for designing joint. So in this study, the prediction method in consideration with bearing failure was chosen. In the proposed method, the characteristic length is combined with the Yamada-Sun failure criterion, Tsai-Hill failure criterion and characteristic length for Tension and Compression is determined from investigation. Especially the length of compression is determined from the "bearing failure test" that newly conceived to take bearing failure into consideration. The proposed prediction method was applied to quasi-isotropic carbon/epoxy joint showing net-tension and bearing failure experimentally. Good agreement was found between the predicted and experimental result for each joint geometry. geometry.
