This article deals with the characteristics of science, technology and society studies for societal challenges and policies to encourage that studies. It reviews several cases of science, technology and society studies. Transition management, community-based research, technology assessment and social acceptance of new technology are discussed. And it is argued that ' research' as a conceptual framework for analyzing the that studies. A couple of policy agendas enhancing that studies are suggested.

Recent statistics revealed that with the crisis of humanities, the unemployment rate of the students majoring in this field of study is very high. Considering the seriousness of current situations, the government announced 'Plan to Help Students Majoring in Humanities Find Job.' This study confirmed that the government's policy for those from the department of humanities is valid and reasonable. However, the convergence of humanistic imagination and engineering thoughts could generate some side effects. Therefore, this study suggested a direction for humanistic convergence education to help these students get the career they want. In this study was investigated methodology which can maximize the efficiency of digital storytelling through microscopic convergence instead of macroscopic convergence. In addition, this study proposed that an inter-disciplinary convergence system-based project would be the best solution to nurture convergence-oriented talents in humanities.

The purpose of this study is to investigate empirically the factors affecting the research results of humanities and social sciences based convergence research. For this purpose, personal characteristics, research environment factor, researcher factor, research team factor, and support agency factor were set as influence factors of convergence research. Survey was conducted for researchers who are conducting research on humanities and social sciences based convergence research. As a result, it was found that factors influencing research on humanities and social sciences based convergence were researcher factor, supporting agency factor, research environment factor(major), and the influence of these factors on convergence research result was 51.6%. The implications of the research results are as follows: First, when performing the convergence research based on humanities and social science, individual factor of the researcher is more important than the factor of the research team in the performance of convergence research. Second, the support organization can improve the convergence research result through continuous management of convergence research results. Third, the research field (major) of the researcher also influences the performance of the convergence research. Therefore, the research field (major) should be considered important in the formation of the convergence research team.

Since interdisciplinary convergence could beyond the borders of each disciplines, it is able to create new and meaningful knowledge through collaborative research between different study areas. Especially, in recent years, the Digital Humanities has attracted the attention as the convergence form of the Humanities and ICT. From a research methodology perspective, the Digital Humanities is a tool that can be used as a convergence system for various information utilization such as storage, retrieve, share, and spread. In view of Information system, Digital Humanities has been constructed and used in a variety of systems. Among them, studies related to information visualization for the Digital Humanities have been actively conducted. To visualize data or information, various types such as images, multimedia, interface, and etc could be applied. In this paper, we analyze the cases of various information visualization in digital humanities systems, and propose a method to utilize them in the Humanities and Area Studies.

Fusion and consilience have been important in many aspects of our education and culture. In this flow 2015 revised National Curriculum aimed to cultivate students of abilities of imagining liberally and inventing scientifically and technically. However imagination including imagination in humanities has not been researched in mathematics education part until nowadays, so mathematics education using imagination of raising students with ingenious and harmonizing abilities is hard to discuss concretely. In this paper I studied the opinions of various scholars from ancient times to today, and discussed where imagination reveals itself in mathematics practices. With above results I discussed some possible shape of teaching and learning of mathematics using imagination. And finally we discussed that meanings in the humanities and social aspects.

Interdisciplinary, or convergence, research has been a priority for the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) and many scholars in Korea have proposed interdisciplinary projects. Of the 4,930 proposals for the submitted in 2017, 2,575 (52.2%) of these proposals could be considered interdisciplinary projects. However, interdisciplinary projects had an acceptance rate of 35.0%, compared to an acceptance rate of 42.1% for single-discipline proposals. According to the study, despite the large share of research projects that appear to be interdisciplinary research, the characteristics of interdisciplinary studies was not reflected properly in the evaluation. I would suggest that it is required to prepare the criteria for classification of interdisciplinary studies in the classification system of research fields so that the characteristics of interdisciplinary research projects may be duly considered.

With the development of artificial intelligence, a wave of the 4th industrial revolution is taking place around the world. With the technologies such as big data and Internet of Things-based artificial intelligence, we are heading to a hyper-connected society where everything converges into one. Accordingly as educational talents in the era of artificial intelligence, we are pursuing the cultivation of creative convergence-type talents and emotional creative talents. With human creativity and emotion at the center, we should be able to collaborate with artificial intelligence and create new things by converging knowledge in various fields. By developing a program that combines humanities-oriented Korean language with engineering-oriented artificial intelligence, this research attempted to help students experience solving problems creatively by combining humanistic knowledge with engineering thinking skills. The educational program consists of two kinds of contents(i.e., "Books with AI" and "A Play with AI") and 15 classes that provide students with opportunities to solve humanities problems with artificial intelligence.

This study was conducted to examine the correlations between humanistic literacy, empathy ability, and interpersonal relationship, and to identify the influencing factors on interpersonal relationship of nursing students. Data were collected from 177 nursing students from March 4 to 14, 2019. Data were collected through personal interviews using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Humanistic literacy according to the general characteristics showed significant differences in economic level. Interpersonal relationship according to the general characteristics showed significant differences in satisfaction with major. Interpersonal relationship showed significant positive correlations with humanistic literacy and empathy ability. Empathy ability, which accounted for 21% of the variance, were significant predictors influencing interpersonal relationship in nursing students. Strategies for nursing students are needed to increase Empathy ability.

In the training field where literature is used as a tool, some excerpts from its text are used, instead of its full text. Therefore, it is necessary to have empirical guidelines for which part of the text should be used as Memory-Hint, a part that reminds its reader of certain memory, and for how the text can be introduced effectively. For the study, Hesse's whole life and his literary characters were examined from a therapeutic perspective. First, while Hesse's life was reviewed and his characters were analyzed, Hesse was recognized for Self-therapeutic Life. He also lived a life of multimedia in which he practiced writing, painting, playing musical instruments, meditation, walking, etc. Second, Contents of Literature Therapy using Hesse's works were applied to the schizophrenic patients. Media used for the clinical study were mostly extracted from Hesse's works. They began to show interest in others and express their empathy on others, in addition to expressing their sentimental empathy on Hesse's texts. How effectively Hesse utilized multimedia during his lifetime will be good literary resources in helping improving modern-day people's mental health and curing their pathological problems.
