The Semantic Web and its related technologies have been opening the era of information sharing via the Web. There are, however, several huddles still to overcome in the new era, and one of the major huddles is the issue of information integration, unless a single unified and huge ontology could be built and used which could address everything in the world. Particularly in the e-business area, the problem of information integration is of a great concern for product search and comparison at various Internet shopping sites and e-marketplaces. To overcome this problem, we proposed an ontology-driven mapping algorithm between heterogeneous product classification and description frameworks. We also peformed a comparative evaluation of the proposed mapping algorithm against a well-Down ontology mapping tool, PROMPT.

In mobile ad hoc networks, an application scenario requires mostly group mobility behavior in the mix of group moving nodes and individually moving nodes. The nodes of those applications tend to belong to the movement group with similar movement behavior. Group mobility is one of the good methods to improve scalability, and reduces the protocol overhead. In this paper, we propose the multicast architecture which regards nodes that have equal group mobility in the heterogeneous group mobility network as the single entity with the multiple interfaces and composes multicast tree, The logical cooperative entity-based multicast architecture accommodates the scalability, the multicast tree simplification, and the protocol overhead reduction which arc obtained from the hierarchical multicast architecture, while it maintains the nat multicast architecture for the data transmission. It also prevents the concentration of the energy consumption dispersing data forwarding load into the several ingress/egress nodes. Results obtained through simulations show that logical cooperative entity based multicast protocol with multiple interfaces offers the protocol scalability and the efficient data transmission.

For supporting Interoperability among heterogeneous data sources in different geographic information systems, it is required to use open API like OGIS OLE DB Proposed in OGC. The OLE/COM Implementation Specification of OGIS only provides interfaces to discover and access spatial data, but does not support interfaces for updating distributed spatial data. To solve this problem, we propose and add interfaces for updating spatial objects distributed over heterogeneous data sources and examining the consistency of spatial relationships between updated objects. We also devise a 2-phase commit protocol based on spatial relationships in order to guarantee the consistency of updated objects. To justify the update scheme using the proposed Interfaces and 2-phase commit prototype we design and implement a prototype system for updating distributed spatial objects.

MDMG(Multiple Decision-Making Group) problems comprise those of UDMG(Unit Decision-Making Group) which contradict each other. For the evaluation problem of port competitiveness, it has the complicated evaluation characteristics of multi-strata-complex and multi-attributes. Especially, it becomes typical MDMG problems in the evaluation which a great number of decision makers such as shipping companies, freight forwarders, logistics companies and researchers participate in This evaluation of complex problems needs the compensated process of weight which rationally unites heterogeneous preferences of each of groups. In this respect, the purpose of this study is to remove the uncertainty of the UDMG using the theory of DS (Dempster-Shafer) and present the integrated weight through the level process.

What is the impact of intercultural understanding and communication on a 'foreign' company's performance? We suggest that a firm's localization is a bilateral process requiring mutual understanding and respect of the foreign and indigenous cultures. To assess this argument, we investigate the relationship between mutual understanding (measured by power distance, communication satisfaction, and cross-cultural understanding) on organizational performance at Korean firms employing Indonesian workers in Indonesia. Survey and statistical results indicate that firm performance was negatively affected by power distance and positively affected by cross-cultural understanding. The results suggest a new perspective on enhancing the organization's performance for overseas operations. While it is necessary for Korean investors to understand local culture, educating local managers on Korean culture better enhances organizational performance.

Currently operated many information systems are faced up with various difficulties to exchange data and to cooperate between different systems because the factors, such as data exchangibility and system interoperability, are not considered during the system development from scratch. To overcome these problems, we attempt to apply e-Government Grid to resolve the heterogeneity of systems and propose Government Information Metadata Registry (GIMDR) for assurance of interoperability of distributed and independent information systems in e-government environments. Consequently, the case study is introduced to provide the seamless connection between distributed systems. The proposed e-Government Grid and GIMDR are expected to reduce the heterogeneity of the distributed systems for interoperability, as well as increase the accessability and transparency of cooperating information.

고속 네트워크와 이질적인 자원의 결합으로 구성되어 보안에 취약할 수 밖에 없는 네트워크 기반 컴퓨팅 환경을 대상으로 내.외부적 공격이나 결함이 발생하더라도 중요한 서비스를 지속적으로 제공하여, 시스템의 피해를 최소화하는 침입감내시스템(Intrusion Tolerant Systems)에 대한 연구가 활발하다. 본 논문에서는 주-백업 구조를 갖는 침입감내시스템 구조를 제안하였으며, 마코브 분석(Markov Analysis)을 통해, 시스템 생존성을 정량적으로 정의하였다.

본 논문에서 제안하는 XMF(XML-based Mediation Framework)는 인터넷상의 이질적이고 분산되어 있는 정보 자원에 대하여 사용자에게는 위치 투명성(location transparency)과 접근 투명성(access transparency)을 보장하면서 통합시 발생하는 구조적 충돌(structural conflict)과 의미적 충돌(semantic conflict)을 해결하는 기능을 가지고 있다. 또한 XMF는 통합 모델로써 XML을 채택함으로써 모든 정보 자원에 대하여 모델링 할 수 있게 된다. 본 논문은 이러한 XMF를 기반으로 인터넷에 산재하는 정보 자원, 그리고 DBMS에 저장, 관리되는 데이터를 통합하여 사용자에게 가상 멀티미디어 문서(virtual multimedia document)를 제공하는 시스템을 구축하는 것이다.

전세계를 연결하는 인터넷은 웹의 출현으로 급속히 퍼져 나가 하나의 거대한 정보망으로 형성되었다. 이러한 정보망에서 필요한 정보를 찾기 위한 검색 엔진이 인터넷에서의 필수 요건이 되고 있다. 그러나 정보가 저장되어 있는 여러 서버들 간의 플렛폼의 이질성의 극복, 언어 독립적인 플렛폼의 필요성이 대두된다. 그 해결책으로 이질적 분산 환경의 통합 환경 제공을 위한 CORBA가 제시되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 CORBA 기술을 이용하여 인터넷에서의 정보 제공 서버간의 투명한 상호작용과 정보 검색이 가능하게 하며, 특히 일반 검색 엔진과는 달리 웹의 링크를 통해 정보를 검색할 수 있게 하기 위한 서버 엔진과 클라이언트 사용자 인터페이스를 설계, 구현하였다.

최근 텍스트, 이미지, 오디오, 비디오와 같은 멀티미디어 객체를 다루는 연구는 국내외적으로 활발하게 진행되고 있으나, 이러한 멀티미디어 객체들을 효율적으로 저장 및 검색하기 위한 하부저장 시스템에 대한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 대용량 멀티미디어 객체들을 효율적으로 저장 및 검색하기 위한 구조를 분석하고 다양한 이질적 객체들을 위한 객체 관리자 및 대용량 텍스트를 위한 역화일 관리자를 설계한다. 아울러, 기존의 하부저정 구조인 SHORE 저장시스템에 통합하여 DBMS 측면에서 제공하는 동시성 제어, 회복기법 등을 지원할 수 있는 객체저장 엔진을 구현한다.
