Automatic People Counting and Environment Information Monitoring System Development based on Ubiquitous Sensor Networks (유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크 기반 자동인원계수 및 환경정보 모니터링 시스템 개발)

  • 최근 반도체 기술과 무선 통신기술의 발전으로 센서 네트워크를 이용한 응용 분야가 다양하게 나타나고 있다. 본 논문에서는 센서 네트워크를 이용하여 산악지역의 자동인원계수시스템과 환경모니터링시스템을 개발했다. 이 시스템은 저전력으로 동작하고 이중 RF 보드를 이용하여 최대한 신뢰성 있는 데이터 전송이 가능하도록 개발하였다. 또한 산악지역에서 데이터 전송율과 통신 신뢰성을 만족시킬 수 있는 433MHz 대역이 적합함을 실험을 통하여 확인하였다. 기존의 CCD 카메라를 이용한 자동인원계수기는 전원공급과 네트워크 부재로 인하여 산악지역에서는 사용하기에 부적합하다. 본 논문에서는 산악지역의 탐방로 폭이 협소함을 이용하여 포토 빔 센서를 이용한 양방향 계수센서를 개발하였다. 산악지역에서 실험한 결과 1.5m 이하의 도로 폭에서 95% 이상의 계수 신뢰도를 보임을 확인할 수 있다.

Fabrication and Characteristics of Surface-Acoustic-Wave Sensors for Detecting $NO_2$ GaS ($NO_2$ 가스 감지를 위한 표면탄성파 센서의 제작 및 특성)

  • Surface acoustic wave (SAW) device is very attractive for gas sensor applications because of their small size, low cost, high sensitivity, and good reliability. A dual delay line surface acoustic wave $NO_2$ gas sensors have been designed and fabricated on the $LiTaO_3$ piezoelectric single crystal substrate. The capacitance of the fabricated IDTs was 326.34pF at the frequency of 79.3MHz. The maximum reflection loss of the impedence-matched IDTs was -16.74dB at the frequency of 79.3MHz. The SAW oscillator was constructed and the stable oscillation was obtained by controlling the gain of rf amplifier properly. The oscillation frequency shift of the SAW oscillator to the $NO_2$ gas was 28Hz/ppm.

Clustering Methods for Cluster Uniformity in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선센서 네트워크에서 클러스터 균일화를 위한 클러스터링 방법)

  • In wireless sensor networks, communication failure between sensor nodes causes continuous connection attempts, which results in a large power loss. In this paper, an appropriate distance between the CH(Cluster Head) node and the communicating sensor nodes is limited so that a group of clusters of appropriate size is formed on a two-dimensional plane. To equalize the cluster size, sensor nodes in the shortest distance communicate with each other to form member nodes, and clusters are formed by gathering nearby nodes. Based on the proposed cluster uniformity algorithm, the improvement rate of cluster uniformity is shown by simulation results. The proposed method can improve the cluster uniformity of the network by about 30%.

Positional Uncertainty Reduction of Overlapped Ultrasonic Sensor Ring for Efficient Mobile Robot Obstacle Detection (효율적인 이동로봇의 장애물 탐지를 위한 중첩 초음파 센서 링의 위치 불확실성 감소)

  • This paper presents the reduction of the positional uncertainty of an ultrasonic sensor ring with overlapped beam pattern for the efficient obstacle detection of a mobile robot. Basically, it is assumed that a relatively small number of inexpensive low directivity ultrasonic sensors are installed at regular spacings along the side of a circular mobile robot with their beams overlapped. First, for both single and double obstacles, we show that the positional uncertainty inherent to an ultrasonic sensor can be reduced using the overlapped beam pattern, and also quantify the relative improvement in positional uncertainty. Second, given measured distance data from one or two ultrasonic sensors, we devise the geometric method to determine the position of an obstacle with respect to the center of a mobile robot. Third, we examine and compare existing ultrasonic sensor models, including Gaussian distribution, parabolic distribution, uniform distribution, and impulse, and then build the sensor model of overlapped ultrasonic sensors, adequate for obstacle detection in terms of positional uncertainty and computational requirement. Finally, through experiments using our prototype ultrasonic sensor ring, the validity of overlapped beam pattern for reduced positional uncertainty and efficient obstacle detection is demonstrated.

An Automatic Mover for a Double-parked Car (이중 주차된 차량용 자동 이동 장치)

  • In this paper, the problem of a double-parked car has been investigated and a method to solve it is studied. Double parking is very common in a public parking lot with insufficient parking space. If a double-parked car blocked the way, a person needs to push the double-parked car to move it. The problem is that moving a double-parked car with hands is very hard and dangerous, especially for the old and the weak. To solve the above mentioned problem, an automatic mover for a double-parked car is proposed and developed. The basic idea is that a double-parked car can be moved by rolling its one wheel. Two rollers are designed and manufactured, which are used to roll a wheel of a double-parked car. The developed automatic mover has two rollers, two driving wheels, and four castors. It also has several ultrasonic sensors so that it can detect obstacles in the way and prevent possible collision. It is verified through several experiments that the developed automatic mover can move a double-parked car safely and easily.

A Dual-layer Energy Efficient Distributed Clustering Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 에너지 효율적인 이중 레이어 분산 클러스터링 기법)

  • Wireless sensor networks have recently emerged as a platform for several applications. By deploying wireless sensor nodes and constructing a sensor network, we can remotely obtain information about the behavior, conditions, and positions of objects in a region. Since sensor nodes operate on batteries, energy-efficient mechanisms for gathering sensor data are indispensable to prolong the lifetime of a sensor network as long as possible. In this paper, we propose a novel clustering algorithm that distributes the energy consumption of a cluster head. First, we analyze the energy consumption if cluster heads and divide each cluster into a collection layer and a transmission layer according to their roles. Then, we elect a cluster head for each layer to distribute the energy consumption of single cluster head. In order to show the superiority of our clustering algorithm, we compare it with the existing clustering algorithm in terms of the lifetime of the sensor network. As a result, our experimental results show that the proposed clustering algorithm achieves about $10%{\sim}40%$ performance improvements over the existing clustering algorithms.

초미세 이중 금속 광공진기의 특성과 응용

  • 이 발표에서 우리는 수백 나노미터 크기인 두 개의 나노 금속 원반 또는 나노 블록이 백 나노미터 이하의 간격으로 결합된 초미세 이중 금속 플라즈몬 광공진기를 제안하고 그 응용을 살펴본다. 원반구조 경우, 반지름이 476 nm인 나노원반 두 개가 100 nm 두께의 유전체 원반의 양쪽에 위치하여 1550 nm 공진파장을 가진 표면 플라즈몬 whispering-gallery-mode (WGM)을 유전체 내에 형성한다. 유전체의 두께를 일정하게 유지할 경우, WGM의 공진파장은 원반의 반지름에 따라 줄어든다. 반면, 반지름이 일정할 때에는 두 금속 원반 사이의 유전체 두께가 줄어듦에 따라 두 금속 원반 사이에 작용하는 표면 플라즈몬의 결합이 강해져서 공진파장이 길어진다. 따라서, 일반적으로 공진기의 크기가 줄어듦에 따라 공진파장이 짧아지는 것과 달리, 제안된 원반구조에서 발생하는 WGM는 원반의 반지름과 유전체의 두께를 함께 줄여도 공진파장이 동일하게 유지되는 차별화된 특성을 가지고 있다. 최종적으로 같은 공진파장을 가지는 WGM를 반지름 88 m, 유전체 두께 10 nm의 공진기에서도 여기시킬 수 있음으로, 모드부피(V)를 1/160으로 줄일 수 있다. 이에 비해, 공진모드의 품위값(Q)은 증가된 금속의 흡수손실에 의해 1/3정도 줄어듦으로써, 공진기와 물질의 상호작용 정도를 보여주는 Q/V값은 크기가 줄어든 공진기에서 오히려 50배 가량 증가함을 확인할 수 있다. 이 같은 초미세 플라즈몬 공진기는 매우 작은 굴절율 센서로서 응용을 가지고 있으며, 1160 nm/(단위 굴절율 변화)의 높은 민감도를 보인다. 한편, $200{\times}150{\times}100nm3$의 크기를 가진 두 개의 금속 나노블록이 10 nm의 공기 간격을 가지고 결합된 나노 공진기는, 공기 간격 내에 강하게 집적된 838 nm의 공진파장을 가진 플라즈몬 공진기 모드를 여기시킨다. 제안된 공진모드는 공기간격이 줄어듦에 따라 공진파장이 급격하게 증가하는 특성을 가지므로 옹스토롬 정도의 분해능을 가진 두께 변화 센서로 응용할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 공기간격 2 nm에서는 1A 두께 변화에 대해 공진파장 변화는 약 40 nm로 매우 민감하게 변화한다.

Fabrication of pyroelectric IR sensors with PLT thin plates compensating for piezoelectric effect (PLT 박편을 이용한 압전특성이 보상된 초전형 적외선 센서의 제작)

  • Highly sensitive pyroelectric IR sensors were fabricated with La-modified $PbTiO_{3}(PLT)$ thin plates compensating for piezoelectric effect. The device was fabricated in a dual form by placing two PLT cells, each of $1{\times}2\;mm^{2}$, side by side with appropriate electrode configuration. The dual element sensor had a signal to noise ratio of about 350 that was much larger than that of single element sensors. Further the dual element sensors exhibited excellent pyroelectric properties such as a large voltage responsivity of 2400 V/W, a pyro-coefficient of $4.6{\times}10^{-8}\;C/cm^{2}K$, a voltage figure of merit of $4.2{\times}10^{-11}\;Ccm/J$, and a small thermal time constant of 8.7 msec. It was confirmed through experiments that the dual element sensor was applicable to detect the two-dimensional moving direction of human beings.

  • The LiDAR sensor, which is widely regarded as one of the most important sensors, has recently undergone active commercialization owing to the significant growth in the production of ADAS and autonomous vehicle components. The LiDAR sensor technology involves radiating a laser beam at a particular angle and acquiring a three-dimensional image by measuring the lapsed time of the laser beam that has returned after being reflected. The LiDAR sensor has been incorporated and utilized in various devices such as drones and robots. This study focuses on object detection and recognition by employing sensor fusion. Object detection and recognition can be executed as a single function by incorporating sensors capable of recognition, such as image sensors, optical sensors, and propagation sensors. However, a single sensor has limitations with respect to object detection and recognition, and such limitations can be overcome by employing multiple sensors. In this paper, the performance of an eight-channel scanning LiDAR was evaluated and an object detection algorithm based on it was implemented. Furthermore, object detection characteristics during daytime and nighttime in a real road environment were verified. Obtained experimental results corroborate that an excellent detection performance of 92.87% can be achieved.

  • The user's context awareness is important to the reliability of sensors data. The sensor data is constantly change to external temp, internal& external environment and vibration. This noise environment is affecting that the data collected information from sensors. Of course this method of digital filter and inference algorithm specifically request for the use of ripple noise and action inference. In this paper, experiment was a comparison of the KF(Kalman Filter) and WMAF(Weight Moving Average Filter) for noise decrease and distortion prevention according to user behavior. And, we compared the EWDF(Extended Weight Dual Filter) with several filer. In an experiment, in contrast to other filter, the proposed filter is robust in a noise-environment.
