소형 이륜자동차의 머플러 배기압력 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Exhaust Pressure Charactieristics in the small motorcycle.)

  • In this study, a experiment has been developed for measuring the exhaust pressure of muffler at inlet and outlet. The main experimental parameters were a engine speed and sound absorbing material in the muffler. The muffler sound absorbing material tested a steel wool and glass wool. The exhaust pressure was measured with pressure sensor. The phase of exhaust pressure with high speed was moved according to increasing engine speed comparing with exhaust pressure with low speed. Also, the distribution of exhaust pressure at the model-1, 2 and 3 are similar with distribution of exhaust pressure at muffler inlet.

125cc급 모터사이클용 머플러 내부 유동특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Flow Characteristics in Muffler for 125cc Grade Motorcycle)

  • This study represents numerical study on the thermal and fluid flow characteristics of exhaust gas in a motorcycle muffler. The engine generates 125cc of displacement. Numerical analysis with computational fluid dynamics(CFD) was carried out to investigate the exhaust gas that flow into a motorcycle muffler. The STAR-CD S/W used to analyze three dimensional steady state and transient in a muffler. The Navier-Stokes Equation is solved with SAMPLE and PISO method in cartesian coordinates system. As the numerical result, it could be confirmed pulsating pressure generated from inlet of muffler become closer to the atmospheric pressure through baffle. Also the numerical result was almost identical to experimental result and, through the comparison, the reliability of numerical result was confirmed.

  • We research into the exhaust system volume what proving the optimum exhaust performance and combustion characteristics. Many automobile manufactures have developed complex exhaust system for environment regulation and noise reduction. This complex exhaust system provides acoustics silencing and low frequency noise for customers demand. Recently, automobile exhaust system have made the Dual muffler concerning to the noise and vibration reduction. Also it bring the engine performance down by decreasing the back pressure and temperature in the exhaust system. The experiments are carried out different volume of exhaust system. In order to establish the optimized conditions design factors which are taking exhaust system volume, it show how the exhaust performance influence on the engine performance in idling.

  • This study represents numerical study on the thermal and fluid flow characteristics of exhaust gas in a motorcycle muffler. The reference engine was used 124.cc small displacement. Numerical analysis with computational fluid dynamics(CFD) was carried out to investigate the exhaust gas that flow into a motorcycle muffler. The STAR-CD S/W used to three dimensional steady state CFD analysis in a muffler. And than We got the information of static pressure it is used to structural analysis ant the first baffle plate using the commercial CAE code ANSYS workbench. Exhaust gas flow third chamber from frist chamber and running second chamber. A simulation result shows that each chamber of muffler temperature is about 460 K, 445 and 463K and pressure is about 22,000 Pa, 16,000 Pa and 10,000 Pa.

  • This study is analysis on the heat transfer of exhaust gas into the muffler at passenger Car. Numerical analysis with Computational fluid Dynamics(CFD) was carried out to investigate exhaust gas flow. The STAR-CD S/W used for the three dimensional steady state CFD analysis in a muffler. The Navier-Stokes Equation is solved with the SIMPLE method in a general cartesian coordinates system. Result of numerical simulation; Inlet and outlet temperature shown about ${\Delta}T=239K$, 216K, 202K at in the muffler. Heat transfer was progressed quickly by atmospheric temperature of muffler external at in the near wall.

  • 파동의 에돌이와 공명식 머플러 원리를 이용하여 통풍형 방음을 구현하고 그 이론을 설명하였다. 이 방음기술은 차단하고자 하는 주파수영역의 선택이 가능하다. 방음벽을 이중으로 만들고 그 사이를 비워, 방음벽의 구멍을 통해 들어온 음파가 내부에서 공진하여 소멸되도록 하였다. 두께 8cm인 공진통마다 직경 5cm의 공기구멍을 2개씩 뚫고 실험한 결과 넓은 주파수영역대서 평균 25dB정도의 차음효과가 있었다. 일본 컴넥스사의 산란에 의한 투과손실만 있는 경우와의 차음효과를 비교한 결과 같은 통풍능력인 경우에 적어도 10dB이상 차음효과가 높았다. 또한 컴넥스사의 기술은 차음주파수 영역을 선택할 수 없다는 한계가 있었다.
