Kinetics of 2, 4, 6-Trinitrotoluene reduction by zero valent iron (금속 철을 이용한 TNT 환원시의 동역학 산정)

  • Reduction 2, 4, 6-trinitrotoluene by zero valent iron was studied in a batch reactor under anoxic conditions. Results showed that the removal of trinitrotoluene (TNT)followed a pseudo-first order reaction and the rate was linearly dependent on the available reactive surfau area of the zero valent iron surface area, resulting a rate constant of 0.0981min$^{1}m$$^{-2}m$. High concentrations of the final product, presumably triaminotoluene which needs to be treated by other means, accumulated in the solution. However , little amount of TAT was extracted from the metal surface by using acetonitrile or phosphate buffered water (pH 7.0). Other common major intermediate in biological TNT degradation, a group of aminodinitrotoluenes, was not detected in the solution. Therefore, it is postulated that the reduction of nitro group by $Fe^0$ occurs simultaneously in all three positions and a TNT reduction model by zero valent iron was suggested.

  • 2-Hydroxybenzaldehyde-5-nitro-pyridylhydrazone (2HB-5NPH) was synthesized and its application to the spectrophotometric determination of iron was studied. The reagent reacts with iron in the pH range 6.0-7.5 to form a yellow coIored 1:2 chelate which is very stable in methanol solution. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range 0.05∼2.0 ${\mu}gmL^{-1}$ iron and separation procedure using a short column filled with Amberlite XAD-7 nonionic chelating resin is proposed for the spectrophotometric determination of traces of iron. The influence of several ions as interference was discussed. The separation of Fe(III) ion from the mix-ture solution were carried out with the buffer solution (pH 5.0) and 0.25M HCl as eluents.

  • Ferritin from germinated soybean seeds was purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation (0.55 saturation), ion-exchange chromatography on DEAE-cellulose, gel filtration chromatography on Sephacryl S-300, and HPLC with Bio-Scale Q2 column. SDS-PAGE analysis showed that the purified ferritin is composed of subunit with an apparent M, 21,000. The molecular mass of the native soybean ferritin estimated by gel filtration on Sephacryl S-300 and non-denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis appeared to be $510{\sim}560\;kDa$. Soybean ferritin contained 833 mol Fe/mol protein, which is 31-fold more iron than pumpkin ferritin and stained positive for iron on non-denaturing gel. Soybean ferritin cross-reacted with anti-soybean rabbit ferritin antiserum.

  • With the recent development of information and communication technology, there have been many attempts to apply various IT technologies in the railway field. Until now, the safety control system has been installed at the site and operated using actual data, but there is a problem that it is difficult to verify the function of the railway safety control system in that no accidents occur in real situations. In this study, accident data is generated randomly to verify that the safety control system is functioning properly, and to this end, simulation data is prepared according to the simulator, accident scenario and scenario. Real-time railway safety monitoring system collects and transmits data from interface devices to common protocol called DDS.

  • $H_2S$ is a detrimental impurity that must be removed for upgrading biogas to biomethane. This study investigates an economic method to mitigate $H_2S$ content, combining scrubbing and aeration. The desulfurization experiments were performed in a laboratory apparatus using EDTA-Fe or landfill leachate as the catalyst and metered mixture of 50-52% (v/v) $CH_4$, 32-33% (v/v) $CO_2$ and 500-1,000 ppmv $H_2S$ balanced by $N_2$ using the C city landfill gas. Dissolved iron concentration in the liquid medium significantly affected the oxidation efficiency of sulfide. Iron components in landfill leachate, which would be available in a biogas/landfill gas utilization facility, was compatible with an external iron chelate. More than 70% of $H_2S$ was removed in a contact time of 9 seconds at iron levels at or over 28 mM. The scrubbing-aeration process would be a feasible and easy-to-operate technology for biogas purification.

  • Concurrent engineering concept is used in factory automation recently. In this paper, described instance that apply concurrent engineering production concept in sheet metal cutting process. Automation system to produce metal parts designed by Client/server structure, and designed NC postprocessor on inside. Also, in this paper, when handled all justices of part production by breakup design of concurrent engineering, proved can shorten tine required in product manufacture than system past.

  • The effect of periodic vacancies to the magnetism of the Fe monolayer was investigated by calculating the electronic structures using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method within the GGA approximation. We considered four types of vacancies, point defect, I type, + type, and H type which are consisted of one, three, five and seven vacant sites, respectively. We found that the Fe atoms nearest to the vacancy have the largest magnetic moment in each system, and the value of magnetic moment of the atom was increased as the number of vacancy site is increased. The value of the largest magnetic moment in the systems of point defect, I type, + type, and H type are 3.08, 3.09, 3.15, and 3.30 bohr magnetons, respectively.

  • A railroad is used to a lot of area and it is an eco-friendly and an effective means of communication which is a transport for passengers and products. In recent years, the accidents caused by subway and railroad are cognate with people. We need to come up with preparing measures to avoid the accidents. In this paper, to prevent an accident developing and implementing a system which is a railroad management safety system is the purpose. The system is able to provide scalability for smart railroad safety service based on context aware information. Besides, it is able to furnish flexibility through the OSGi framework.

  • In railway communication, LTE based railway wireless communication systems have been developed to support high data rate and reliable communication link. In this paper, the testbed of LTE based railway wireless communication systems is introduced. Then, we describe measurement results of communication performance such as radiation strength, communication coverage, call setup time, handover success rate, and data transmission rate in the testbed. We also consider requirements for commercialization based on measurement results.

  • The reaction of 2,5-hexanedione with a variety of primary amines using tetracarbonylhydridoferrate(O) as a selective reducing agent at room temperature or 60${\circ}C$ under an atmosphere of carbon monoxide gave the corresponding N-substituted 2,5-dimethylpyrrolidine derivatives. The reaction of synthesized 5-nitro-2-hexanone with benzaldehyde in the presence of tetracarbonylhydridoferrate(O) at 150${\circ}C$ under an atmosphere of carbon monoxide in an autoclave also gave N-benzyl-2,5-dimethylpyrrolidine in moderate yield. The mechanism of these reactions was investigated.
