Factor Analysis on Psychological Cause of Speed Reduction in Expressway Tunnel Section Utilizing Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) (고속도로 터널부 속도 감소에 관한 심리적 요인분석)

  • Tunnel sections on the highway are different from rest of sections on the highway in terms of velocity, the number of passing cars, and vehicle density which, in particular, affect drivers' behavior before and after drivers pass through the tunnel. However, literature review reveals that former studies are too focused on quantitative indicator to consider qualitative aspects. Therefore, this paper conducts survey questionnaire and IPA (Importance Performance Analysis) to find out qualitative improvements on velocity drop on the tunnel sections. The results show as follows: First, drivers require improvements of tunnel form (length and curved form inside tunnel) which is derived from long distance tunnel. Second, experts primarily ask for amendment of geometric characteristics. With comparison of requirements of both drivers and experts, there are many differences in length of tunnel and form of curved tunnel. This also presents that drivers don't satisfy with both length of tunnel and form of curved tunnel that are provided as a part of highway design factors.

Analyzing Faceted Navigations of OPAC in Korean University Libraries (국내 대학도서관 OPAC의 패싯 내비게이션 분석에 관한 연구)

  • This research analyzed how the main requisites of faceted navigation as names of facets, subterms of facets, order of facets, too many results were user-centric. On the research method, this research analyzed the results of the three keywords retrieved in the 15 university libraries' catalogs and how was user's familiarity to the terms. Although domestic universities have serviced facet navigation, the names of the facet of publication date and series title in format and the terms under the facets as multimedia and nonbook material, media material are too difficult intuitively to understand and there were lots of formal terms used in cataloging rules and the terms librarians have usually used. Because of the terms, there is high possibility to deteriorate users' satisfaction and usability to library catalog in future. Even though they serviced facet navigation, there was also weakness as too many results and the university libraries need to use relevance ranking method to solve the weakness. This research has found the possibility of being used too many of levels of the facets and this may also badly affect the users' experience to library catalog.

  • 가상공간에서 사용자들은 온라인 커뮤니티(Online Community)로 관계(Relationship)를 맺고, 같은 관심사를 가지고 공감대를 형성하는 일이 하나의 디지털문화로 형성되었다. 이러한 가상공간에서 자신을 대변할 수 있는 또 다른 나, 즉 아바타(Avatar)에 대한 선호가 증가하고 있으며, 사용목적에 따른 사용자 감성의 반영으로 아바타 디자인이 다양한 형태로 발전하고 있다. 아바타의 근원은 분신(分身) 화신(化身)을 뜻하는 산스크리스트어 '아바따라(avataara)'에서 유래되었으며, 인터넷시대가 열리면서 3차원이나 가상현실게임 또는 웹에서의 채팅 등을 즐길 때 사용자를 대신하는 그래픽 아이콘으로 표상되면서 인터넷 상에서 자신을 대표하는 분신으로 정의되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 인터넷 매체 서비스 이용자의 아바타 사용에 따른 유형별 특성에 관한 것으로서, 이 연구를 통해 아바타 디자인의 시각적 표현요소에 효과적으로 활용될 수 요인을 찾고자 하였다. 분석을 위해 인터넷 공동체 집단을 미니홈피/블로그, 채팅, 게임으로 구분하였으며, 아바타 이용자들이 이와 같은 커뮤니티를 이용할 때 어떤 목적에 따라 사용하고 있으며, 그들이 아바타를 선택할 때 어떤 유형별 특성이 나타나는가를 실증하고자 하였다. 이것은 아바타 이용자들이 자신이 표현하려는 아바타 이미지와의 관계를 파악함으로써 가상세계에서 표출하는 아바타 사용 목적에 맞는 유형을 설명할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 아바타 이용자의 특성을 파악하여 그들의 감성을 반영하는 디자인 전략을 세울 수 있다. 연구방법은 아바타의 개념과 유형분류, 그리고 미니홈피/블로그, 게임, 채팅의 이론적 논의 및 근거제시를 위한 문헌연구를 하였으며, 아바타 이용목적에 따른 유형별 특성을 심도 있게 파악하기 위해 질적연구(Qualitative)로서 표적집단면접(Focus Group Interview)을 실시하였으며, 그에 따른 내용분석과 표현분석을 하였다. 그리고 이것을 보다 객관적으로 검증(verification)하기 위해 양적연구(Quantitative)를 병행하였다. 조사대상은 아바타를 이용해 본 경험이 있는 384명의 학생들이며, 성별 연령별에 따른 분류를 통해 각 조사대상자별 특징을 발견하고자 하였다. 조사를 통해 미니홈피/블로그, 채팅, 게임의 서비스 공간에서 보여 지는 각각의 특성에 맞게 아바타 이용자들은 자신이 표현하려는 아바타의 유형에서 선호의 차이를 나타내고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 결과적으로 아바타사용자의 인터넷 매체 이용목적에 따른 유형별 특성을 파악할 수 있었으며, 향후 사이트(site)의 특성에 따라 사용자의 감성선호를 고려한 아바타 디자인 전략과 그 모델(Design model)을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.

A Preliminary Study of Serious Game Effect Model based on Construal-Level Theory (해석수준이론에 기반한 기능성 게임 효과 증대 방안 연구)

  • Many of recent studies have suggested various positive outcomes of serious games. However, relatively little emphasis has been placed on the roles of user-centered factors from a psychological perspective. One of the main goals of serious games is the change of the user's perception and behavior towards a positive direction. To achieve this goal, psychological factors should be applied to the user's playing process in serious games. Inspired by construal-level theory(CLT), we propose a CLT applied model (CLT in process-outcome serious games model) considering psychological factors on the player's decision making. The model will be useful not only to game developers or designers but also to game researchers as a valuable tool in persuasion and learning for serious game users.

A study on sustainable direction of web-marketing and web-advertising performance (바람직한 웹마케팅의 방향과 웹광고 성과에 관한 연구)

  • Web-ads often distract users' online activities. Web-ads even deter users from comprehending the website contents. As these irritated users try to avoid web-ads, advertising agencies make web-ads even more noticeable to grasp users' attention. The factors that attract users should increase web-ad performance. However, this study confirms that those efforts irritate users and decrease web-ad performance. Also, this study shows that irritated users eventually try to avoid re-visiting the websites. This study also confirms that excessive web-ads on Internet news websites bring more confusion to users than on e-commerce websites. This finding supports the importance of more sustainable web activities on the Internet news websites as users expect objective and fair contents. Based on these results, this study proposes the directions of web-ads activities for the common good and self-interests of the stakeholders.

Study on the Components of Social Media Users' Value Expectation (소셜 미디어 이용자의 기대가치 구성 요인)

  • The purpose of this research is to increase an understanding of social media users and construct a strategic, administrative foundation to measure the efficiency of communicating with them by validly classifying components of social media users' value expectation(VE). Reviewing prior research, in-depth interviews as qualitative research, pre-test and main survey as quantitative research are conducted. The result of quantitative research shows that social media users' VE was categorized in terms of utilitarian, hedonic, relational, self-evident, ethical, system functional, participative, self-ostentatious, and self-hiding perspectives. The significance of this study is as follows: 1) It views communication, psychology, marketing, media and etc. related fields from an integrated perspective. 2) It segments and categorizes social media users' VE from a practical perspective. 3) It contributes to constructing a foundation to predict, confirm, and manage social media users' attitudes from an administrative perspective. Thus, this research will aid future research on social media users' attitude using the constructed VE components as variables and future research that uses this as a basis to find media effects.

The Models for the Dynamic Brand Value of Content Producers in the Online Platform (온라인 컨텐츠 제작자의 동태적 브랜드 가치 분석 모형)

  • This study show the empirical results and the models that explain the content creator's personal brand value in the user-generated content platform. Producer's brand value performance could have enhancement and dilution by their activities for the long-term and repetitive change. Therefore, for the measure and analysis, the models have to catch the effect from producer's the diverse activities. This study would find the guideline by competitive analysis between (1) the impact of in-group user's self-motivated participation and (2) the impact of the social links from the outside platform. Based on the analysis results, producer's creation activity as focused on the specific and professional category increase their brand value for the long-term. However, producers would have to upload diverse category, after users are bored to their similar videos' as before. These empirical results would be a guidelines to the content management strategies for producers and the platform.

A Study on Generating Public Library Service Areas Considering User Access Patterns (이용자의 접근 패턴을 고려한 공공도서관 서비스 영역 생성 연구)

  • Public libraries should plan and provide services that satisfy various needs of the local community users. In order to understand library users, it is essential first to grasp the service areas of libraries. The current service areas of public libraries are primarily set based on administrative boundaries of the areas where the libraries are located, which limits the consideration of actual user access patterns to the libraries. In this study, we aim to create service areas that incorporate the transportation and geographical characteristics of the library's surroundings and reflect the access patterns of library users. Specifically, we utilized street network data from 502 libraries in 7 metropolitan cities to determine the travel distance and time from user locations, considering gradients, to the libraries. Subsequently, we applied the shortest path algorithm to generate service areas within a 30-minute walking or driving range. As a result, we confirmed that there are differences in the service area patterns of libraries depending on topographical factors, and this better reflects the realistic conditions of library access compared to service areas based on straight-line distances. This method of generating service areas contributes to a more accurate understanding of library users' numbers, characteristics, and needs.

Bicyclists' Behavioral Characteristics and Impacts on Route Choice Using Stated Preference Survey in Commuting Time (통근시간대 자전거이용자의 이용행태특성 및 경로선택 영향요인 분석)

  • In the last five years, Korea has supplied many more bicycle facilities than in the last several decades combined. However, have bicyclists increased in proportion to investment? If bicyclists are avoiding existing bicycle related facilities, including off-road bicycle facilities, it could be because suppliers did not consider bicyclists' preferences in their planning process. In this paper, the authors tried to understand the bicyclists' behavioral and route choice characteristics using stated preference surveys and a logit model, using commuting time in Daejeon Metropolitan City, Korea. The results show that nine factors affect the route choice behavior of bicyclists. In particular, bicyclists preferred sub-arterial roads to off-road, dedicated bicycle facilities in residential area. It means that bicyclists like a seamless bicycle route and that a buffer zone between car lanes and bicycle lanes or 50 km/h speed limits for cars are necessary for bicycle lanes that are not physical separated.

  • 우리나라에서 학문분야별로 출판된 전문용어사전의 표제어 기술형식은 매우 상이하다. 이러한 특징은 여러 분야의 전문용어사전을 참조해야 하는 이용자에게 많은 불편을 초래할 뿐만 아니라 표준화된 전자사전에 대한 요구를 충족시키지도 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 전자사전 표준화의 일환인 전문용어사전의 표제어 기술형식 표준화를 위한 기초작업의 일부로서 현재까지 우리나라기서 출판된 전문 용어사전을 대상으로 표제어의 기술형식에 대하여 기술요소, 기술요소의 순서, 띄어쓰기, 다의성을 갖는 용어의 구분, 배열 등에 대하여 조사 분석하였다.
