Construction of Rb Charge Exchange Cell and Characteristic Experiment for He- Ion Production (He음이온 생성을 위한 Rb전하교환기의 제작 및 특성실험)

  • The Rb charge exchange cell is constructed as the He- ion source of the SNU 1.5- MV Tandem Van do Graaff accelerator. The characteristic experiment is carried out in order to determine the optimum operational conditions of the cell. The $He^{+}$ ion beam with the energy of 1~10 keV, extracted from the duoplasmatron ion source, is passed through the Rb vapor to become He- ions by the two step charge exchange reaction, i.e., $He^{+}\;+\;Rb\;{\rightarrow}\;He^{\circ\ast}\;+\;Rb^{+}\;and\;He^{\circ\ast}\;+\;Rb\;{\rightarrow}\;He^{-}\;+\;Rb^{+}$. From the experimental results, it is found that the maximum fractional yield of $He^{-}$ ions is produced at He+ ion energy of 7 keV. The optimum temperatures of the oven and the canal are determined to be $370\;^{\circ}C{\;}and{\;}95^{\circ}C$ respectively. Under the optimum operational condition the maximum fractional yield of $He^{-}$ ions is $2.42\pm0.02%$ This charge exchange cell is proved to be an effective system for the production of He- ions.

  • A waveform for shock response spectrum test on a shaker is synthesized using wavelets such that a specified shock response spectrum of a test profile is achieved. The parameters of a wavelet are center frequency, amplitude, number of half cycles, delay and polarity. The amplitude of each wavelet component is iteratively adjusted so a specified shock response spectrum is matched. The waveform so synthesized is regarded as a reference acceleration waveform for a shaker shock response spectrum test. The author proposes the use of a long duration and low peak waveform. The usefulness of this approach is illustrated with some examples.

Feasibility of Two Dimensional Ion Chamber Array for a Linac Periodic Quality Assurance (선형가속기의 품질관리를 위한 2차원이온전리함배열의 유용성)

  • Aim of this study is to investigate the feasibility of 2D ion chamber array as a substitute of the water phantom system in a periodic Linac QA. For the feasibility study, a commercial ion chamber matrix was used as a substitute of the water phantom in the measurement for a routine QA beam properties. The device used in this study was the I'm RT MatriXX (Wellhofer Dosimetrie, Germany). The MatriXX consists of a 1,020 vented ion chamber array, arranged in $24{\times}24\;cm^2$ matrix. Each ion chamber has a volume of $0.08\;cm^3$, spacing of 0.762 cm. We investigated dosimetric parameters such as dose symmetry, energy ($TPR_{20,10}$), and absolute dose for comparing with the water phantom data with a Farmer-type ionization chamber (FC65G, Wellhofer Dosimetrie, Germany). For the MatriXX measurements, we used the white polystyrene phantom (${\rho}:\;1.18\;g/cm^3$) and also considered the intrinsic layer (${\rho}:\;1.06\;g/cm^3$, t: 0.36 cm) of MatriXX to be equivalent to water depth. In the preliminary study of geometrical QA using MatriXX, the rotation axis of collimator and half beam junction test were included and compared with film measurements. Regarding the dosimetrical QA, the MatriXX has shown good agreements within ${\pm}1%$ compared to the water phantom measurements. In the geometrical test, the data from MatriXX were comparable with those from the films. In conclusion, the MatriXX is a good substitute for water phantom system and film measurements. In addition, the results indicate that the MatriXX as a cost-effective novel QA tool to reduce time and personnel power.

  • A two-dimensional Particle-In-Cell (PIC) simulation of a Hall thruster is presented. The thruster is being developed for orbit transfer and correction of a small satellite. Preliminary investigation of the simulation result finds well separated acceleration and ionization layers. The simulation further shows that collisional ionization of the xenon neutrals allows sufficient acceleration of the ionized plasmas that is adequate for the intended correction and transfer of small satellite orbits. Anticipated performance of the thruster based upon the present results will be calculated.

SNU 1.5-MV 직렬형 반데그라프 가속기를 이용한 러더포드 후방산란 분광법에 의한 소재의 표면적층 분석

  • SNU 1.5-MV 직렬형 반데그라프 가속기로부터 얻은 0.5~2.2 MeV He$^{++}$ 빔을 이용하여 러더포드 후방산란 분광법 (RBS, Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry)으로 여러가지 시료의 표면적층을 분석하였다. 먼저 RBS 분석계통의 신뢰성을 확인하기 위하여 Micromatter사와 Charles Evans & Associates에서 제작한 14종 33개의 표준시료들에 대한 후방산란 실험을 수행하여, 각 층의 두께, 원소조성비 및 주입 이온의 깊이, 분포폭을 측정하였다. 결정된 이 값들은 제시된 값과 3% 이내로 일치하였다 이와 같이 본 RBS 분석계통의 신뢰성을 확인한 후, 분석을 의뢰받은 22종 87개의 시료에 대해, 빔에너지. 후방산란의 기하학적 구조 등의 최적 조건하에서 후방산란 실험을 수행하였다 그 결과, 분석가능한 두께의 한계를 벗어난 2종 3개의 시료를 제외한 나머지 모든 시료에 대해 각 층의 두께, 원소조성비 및 농도분포를 결정할 수 있었으며, 측정치의 통계오차는 8% 이내였다. 다양한 종류의 많은 시료들에 대한 표면적층 분석을 수행한 경험을 통하여, RBS 분석에서 신뢰도 높은 결과를 얻기 위해 분석계통에서 필수적으로 고려해야 할 요소들을 파악할 수 있었으며, 분석 결과에 대한 신뢰도는 분석 계통의 체계화뿐만 아니라 시료의 상태에 따라 크게 좌우됨을 알 수 있었다. 결론적으로 주의 깊은 시료준비와 RBS 분석계통의 최적화를 통해 신뢰도 높은 표면적층 분석이 가능함을 확인하였다.

Characteristics of Water Leakage from Cooling Components in a Storage Ring (방사광 차단용 진공부품의 냉각수 누설 특성)

  • We analyzed the characteristics of water leakage from cooling components of the storage ring in the Pohang Light Source. The water leaks led localized pressure bumps and abnormal pressure changes. The leakage also changed the residual gas compositions depending not only on the position between leakage place to gas analyzer but also on on/off switching of ion pump and electron beam. We found that the residual gas analysis of $CH_4$, CO, NO was useful in determining water leaks.

  • 1)sector chamber II에서 가장 우려되었던 J5, J8의 변형량이 $28\mu\textrm{m}$,$36\mu\textrm{m}$ 이었으므로 목표 값 $50\mu\textrm{m}$을 충분히 보증할 수 있다. 2) Helicoflex gasket type으로 제작된 초도품 챔버에서는 140.deg.C bake-out후 이온 펌프만 으로 20시간 진공배기한 후의 진공도는 2*$10^{-9}$ Torr에 도달하였으며, 용접 type으로 제 작된 챔버에서는 2*$10^{-10}$ Torr에 도달하여서 진공도도 우수하였다. 3)표면조도에 민감한 Helicoflex gasket를 사용하지 않고 알루미늄 플랜지를 용접하여 AI gasketc 를 이용할 수 있기 때문에 초도품챔버에서와 같이 알루미늄 챔버와 스텐레스 스틸 부품을 연결하 는 stainless spool piece가 필요하지 않게 된다. 4)고가의 helicoflex gasket을 쓰지 않으므로 가격절감을 할 수 있다.

  • Rietveld analysis using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data collected at 15 K reveals that CFC-13 ($CF_{3}Cl;$ chlorotrifluoromethane) sorbed on Na,K-LSX binds through fluorine to sodium ions around the single 6-ring aperture in the supcrgage.

  • Injector of high voltage or linear ion accelerator is intended to generate, extract and form beam of certain species with required parameters at the entrance of accelerating structure or, for low energy case, directly in the processing chamber (end station). Injector is the main part defining the ion accelerator performance and reliability. Its power supply and control system (PSCS) features are conditioned by placing the injector equipment at high voltage potential and by complexity of the plasma-beam load. The injector's PSCS should provide: - Transmission of electric power onto high voltage (h/v) terminal; - Obtaining of required output characteristics for injector equipment operation; - Transmission of the operational data and start/stop signals from h/v terminal to control cabinet; - Rremote control of injector; - Withstanding the high voltage breakdowns and X-ray radiation; - Compatibility with other equipment. The paper is concerned with analysis of injectors' PSCS structure and description of the system developed for 50 keV, 20 mA heavy ion injector.

  • 이차전지의 수명 평가는 크게 Cycle life test 와 Calendar life test로 나뉘어져서 평가 되고 있다. Cycle life test로 수명 검증을 위해서는 일반적으로 3000 사이클 이상 테스트를 진행 하여야 하지만 이 방법은 시간이 장기화 되어 신뢰성 검증 및 새로운 부품 적용에 한계가 따른다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 고온 챔버 및 사이클 시험기를 사용하여 빠른 시간 내에 평가를 할 수 있는 가속시험법을 적용하여 수명을 평가 한 연구결과를 발표하고자 한다.
