  • Fundamental processes in digital forensic investigation - such as disk imaging - were developed when digital investigation was relatively young. As digital forensic processes and procedures matured, these fundamental tools, that are the pillars of the reset of the data processing and analysis phases of an investigation, largely stayed the same. This work is a study of modern digital forensic imaging software tools. Specifically, we will examine the feature sets of modern digital forensic imaging tools, as well as their development and release cycles to understand patterns of fundamental tool development. Based on this survey, we show the weakness in current digital investigation fundamental software development and maintenance over time. We also provide recommendations on how to improve fundamental tools.

  • In this study, we have designed the millimeter-wave passive imaging system which records energy that is reflected or emitted from the source and produces image. The lens and front-end of receiver appeared to be important in the system to detect input thermal noise signal. The lens for signal focusing has been designed by optical transfer function. Amplifier of the imaging systemhas been set up with 40dB in maximum gain, 5 dB in maximum noise figure, and 10GHz in bandwidth to enhance sensitivity for thermal noise and to receive it in wide-band width as well. The SBD MSS-20 141B10D diode has been used for the detector circuit to convert amplified millimeter-wave signals to DC output.

  • In this paper, we designed and tested of the passive millimeter-wave imaging system in near range. The proposed passive millimeter-wave imaging system consists two parts. The first part is a 94 GHz band millimeter imaging sensor which is coupled to an antenna, two LNAs, and a diode detector. The second part is a control unit. The control unit is consists of the 2-axes Cartesian robot, the data acquisition (DAQ), and imaging program. The 2-axes Cartesian robot should be able to scan a 2-D image of the metalic tools, IC card and plastic objects, with a raster scanning method. The passive millimeter-wave image of $20{\times}20$ pixels is acquired within less than 60s, and is immediately displayed and stored for post processing. In order to improve the image quality, interpolation methods are applied.

  • This paper presented compact CW sub-THz imaging system using the terahertz transmitter(Tx) that generating 0.34 THz electromagnetic wave on based electronic device. Using 0.34 THz electromagnetic wave generated by Tx, we transmitted to sample by point by point scan method and measured transmitting terahertz wave magnitude and phase information respectively with terahertz receiver(Rx) based on sub harmonic mixer. This paper measured and compared images of several samples to obtain better imaging results by changing time delay and step distance of scanning stage which affect image resolution. Also, through the imaging measurement of various samples, we were able to assure possibility of application of terahertz wave.

  • Backscattered electrons (BSE) are generated at the impact of the primary electron beam on the specimen. BSE imaging provides the compositional contrast to resolve chemical features of sectioned block-face. A focused ion beam (FIB) column can be combined with a field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) to ensure a dual (or cross)-beam system (FIB-FESEM). Due to the milling of the specimen material by 10 to 100 nm with the gallium ion beam, FIB-FESEM allows the serial block-face (SBF) imaging of plastic-embedded specimens with high z-axis resolution. After contrast inversion, BSE images are similar to transmitted electron images by transmission electron microscopy. As another means of SBF imaging, a specialized ultramirotome has been incorporated into the specimen chamber of FESEM ($3View^{(R)}$). Internal structures of plastic-embedded specimens can be serially revealed and analyzed by $3View^{(R)}$ with a large field of view to facilitate three-dimensional reconstruction. These two SBF approaches by FESEM can be employed to unravel spatial association of (sub)cellular entities for a comprehensive understanding of complex biological systems.

  • Imaging in bistatic radar has been known a more difficult task than that in monostatic radar. It is because the behavior of the bistatic range and the bistatic Doppler due to the motion of a transmitter and a receiver is so random that the compensation procedure, which we call an imaging algorithm, is quite complicated. This paper presents a bistatic radar imaging algorithm that can be used in some specific bistatic radar geometry. We show this geometry can present rectangular-like resolution cell on isorange-isoDoppler contours map. We also present the associated resolution and simulation results.

  • As the prevalence of removable device, critical intelligences are often stored in the removable device. For that reason, in seizure and search, the removable device became a important evidence of while it could be has a salient key for prove a crime. When we acquired a removable device for proof, we image it by a imaging device or software with a write protection. However, these are high-priced exclusive equipments and sometimes it could be out of order. In addition, we found that some secure USB and inbuilt vaccine USB are failed to connect to the imaging device. Therefore, in this paper, we provide a suitable digital evidence collection procedure for real.
