Structural Similarity Index for Image Assessment Using Pixel Difference and Saturation Awareness (이미지 평가를 위한 픽셀 변화량과 포화 인지의 구조적 유사도 기법)

  • Until now, a lot of image quality assessment techniques or tools for optimal human visual system(HVS)-awareness have been researched and SSIM(Structural SIMilarity) and its improved techniques are representative examples. However, they often cannot cope with various images and different distortion types robustly, and thus this can cause a large gap between their index values and HVS-awareness. In this paper, we conduct image quality assessment on SSIM and its variants intensively and analyze the causes of each component function's observed anomalies. Then, we propose a novel image quality assessment technique to compensate and improve such anomalies. Additionally, through extensive image assessment simulations, we show that the proposed technique can indicate HVS-awareness more robustly and consistently than SSIM and its variants for various images and different distortion types.

  • 본 연구에서는 특정 대상에 대한 사람들의 심리적인 색채반응을 측정할 수 있는 색채감성척도(PCS)를 개발하고 이것을 색채 감성 이미지의 평가에 어떻게 이용하는가를 보여주고자 한다. 색채심리에 기초한 색채감성척도(PCS)는 NCS와 ISCC-NBS 색명법에 의거한 색상과 톤의 개념으로 구성되었으며 기본형과 상세형의 두 가지가 개발 되었다. 표준화된 색채감성척도는 각 사람들마다 다르게 나타나는 색에 관한 이미지나 색에 대한 심리적인 선호반응을 객관적으로 측정할 수 있는 척도로 활용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 선호색, 선호의상색, 선호 화장품 색을 나타내는데 PCS가 어떻게 활용되는가를 보여주었다. PCS를 이용한 색채 감성 이미지는 Color Image Palette를 이용하여 각각의 특성을 비교할 수 있도록 제시되기도 하였다. 색채 경험에 대한 광학적이거나 물리적인 속성이 아닌 심리적인 특성을 평가하고 서로 다른 집단의 반응을 비교 평가하는데 PCS와 유용한 도구가 될 것이다.

  • Kansei engineering or image technology is a tool to analyze relation between product design components and the impression or feeling of human for physical products. This paper attempts to construct the designer\`s aid tool for developing corporate identity(CI) symbol mark based on the hybrid Kansei engineering. It combines the forward Kansei engineering for translating consumer\`s feeling into design components of CI symbol mark and the backward Kansei engineering for evaluating consumer\`s feeling for CI symbol mark. The semantic differential(SD) evaluation experiment is carried out to find the relations between image and design. The backward Kansei engineering system is modelled by fuzzy neural network. This research is expected to contribute to the development of CI symbol mark that correspond to comsumer\`s image.

  • These days, as Interest in Image recognition with deep learning is increasing, there has been a lot of research in image recognition using deep learning. In this study, we propose a system for classifying rocks through rock images of 18 types of rock(6 types of igneous, 6 types of metamorphic, 6 types of sedimentary rock) which are addressed in the high school curriculum, using CNN model based on Tensorflow, deep learning open source framework. As a result, we developed a classifier to distinguish rocks by learning the images of rocks and confirmed the classification performance of rock classifier. Finally, through the mobile application implemented, students can use the application as a learning tool in classroom or on-site experience.

GUI-based Black Box Test Automation Program Tool in Windows Environment (윈도우 환경에서의 GUI 기반 블랙박스 테스트 자동화 프로그램 도구)

  • In this paper, we propose and develop a test automation program tool that automates GUI based testing using black box testing technique in Windows environment. The main features of the proposed test automation program tool are as follows. First, an error condition is designated as an image, a screen is captured for each test step, and an error message is detected through comparison of image similarity. Second, the proposed system supports various setting options such as event waiting time during execution and coordinate increment value between each test step. Such black box test automation research was common in environments such as Android and Web, but not in Windows environment. The results of performance evaluation show that the proposed system performs GUI test automation as an image comparison module and confirms that the test is performed normally by confirming process status and error image detection.

  • In this paper, we present a leaf image retrieval system that represents and retrieves leaf images based on their shape. For more effective representation of leaf images, we improved an existing MPP algorithm. Also, in order to reduce the response time, we proposed a new dynamic matching algorithm at basically revises the Nearest Neighbor search. The system provides users with an interface for uploading query images or tools to generate queries based on shape features and retrieves images based on their similarity. For convenience, users are allowed to easily query images by sketching leaf shape or leaf arrangement on the web. In the experiment, we constructed an image database of Korean native plants and measured the system performance by counting the number of similar images retrieved for queries.

A Comparative Study on the Image characteristics in Traditional Palaces of Korea, China and Japan (한 중 일 궁궐 건축의 이미지 특성 비교 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the unique image characteristics of Korea and identify the Korea culture by comparing the image characteristics of traditional palaces of Korea, China and Japan. This study identifies the unique image characteristics of Korea through a comparative analysis the image of three nations. Literature research, free association measurement, survey were conducted to select study objects and descriptive words. 5 outside-pictures and 2 inside-pictures of the Changduckung, the Forbidden City, the Nijo castle representing each country's traditional palaces were chosen as study objects. A questionnaire was made with 47 descriptive words and 5-scale measurement. The results of analysis are as follows. The representative words to express the image characteristics of Korea, China and Japan traditional palaces are adornment, stability, openness, lines, unfamiliarity, feminine. This study researched the common and different factors between the image characteristics in traditional palaces of Korea, China and Japan. The common image is the image of lines. The distinctive characteristics of Korea are stability, curved lines and femininity. The characteristics of China are adornment and straight lines. And, the characteristics of Japan are simplicity, unfamiliarity, and openness. Based on the research, it was found out that stability and curved lines are the main characteristics of Korea. This study researches the characteristics of images of Korea, China and Japan. This study shows the common and different factors of image characteristics of in the neighboring three nations of East Asia. Due to the geographical and cultural effect over a long time, the Korea was evaluated as the middle cultural between China and Japan. However, this study found unique characteristics of Korea's image.

  • In this paper, we implement an AAC(Augmentative and Alternative Communication) system based on image dictionary in order that speech defectives can easily communicate their opinion to others by using images. Normally, those who have a speech defect use only a few limited words to express their intentions and it is an effective way to use images in their communication because they have a difficulty in speaking. Therefore we make verbal images of verb and adjective that play an important role in expressing the speaker's intention, define pattern of semantic relation between the verbal images and noun images, and construct the image dictionary. In this AAC system, when a user clicks a verbal image, the system generates a sentence by selecting noun images which are component parts of corresponding pattern based on semantic relation with the verbal image. We evaluate the implemented system by how efficiently children of speech defect can express their intention and the result shows more than 70% of success rate in communication.

  • 본 논문에서는 사이버 채팅 시스템의 사용상 문제해결 방안을 위하여 사용성 평가를 통해 도출된 문제점을 비교 분석하여 사용성 향상을 위한 사용자 인터페이스 디자인의 가이드라인을 제안한다. 먼저 현존하는 문헌을 중심으로 웹 커뮤니케이션 도구로서의 사이버 채팅 시스템에 대하여 고찰하고 현재 사용되고 있는 채팅 현황을 조사하여 소개한다. 두 번째로는, 사용상의 문제점을 만족도 평가, 발전평가, 수행도 평가, 관찰평가를 실시하여 알아내고 사용성 평가결과 분석에 따른 사용상의 잠정적 문제 해결 방안을 제시하였다. 또한 사용성 평가에 따른 주요 발견 점으로는 채팅 기능의 구조화, 화면 구성요소의 크기 및 배치에 따른 화면의 가시성, 대화환경에 따른 이미지나 기능의 적절한 메타포 사용의 개선 및 개발이 필요한 것으로 대두되었다.

Evaluation Criteria and Preferred Image of Jeans Products based on Benefit Segmentation (진 제품 구매자의 추구혜택에 따른 평가기준 및 선호 이미지)

  • The purpose of this study was to find differences in evaluation criteria and to find differences in preferred images based on benefits segmented groups of jeans products consumers. Male and female Korean university students participated in the study. Quota sampling method was used to collect the data based on gender and a residential area of the respondents. Data from 492 questionnaires were used in the analysis. Factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, and post-hoc test were conducted. As a result, respondents who seek multi-benefits considered aesthetic criteria(e.g., color, style, design, fit) and quality performance criteria(e.g., durability, ease of care, contractibility, flexibility) more importantly when evaluating and purchasing jeans products. Respondents who seek brand name considered extrinsic criteria(e.g., brand reputation, status symbol, country of origin, fashionability) more importantly than respondents who seek economic efciency. Respondents who seek multi-benefits such as attractiveness, fashion, individuality, and utility tend to prefer all the images: individual image, active image, sexual image, sophisticated image, and simple image when wearing jeans products. Respondents who seek fashion are likely to prefer individual image, and respondents who seek brand name more prefer both individual image and polished image. Mean while, respondents who seek economical efficiency less prefer sexual image and polished image.
