The purpose of this study is to suggest the effects of schema activation on reading comprehension. The subject of a sample survey was a 36 student experimental group and a 32 student control group, total 68 students at third grade class of C Middle School in Gwangju. Students ability to read English in the two groups were almost the same through, which was shown by pre-test administered before the beginning of the experiment. As a pre-reading activity, the experimental group was showed the pictures and vocabularies related to the text before reading. The other control group did Grammar Translation Method about text. The data needed for this study was obtained by the questionnaires with 25 questions about the English reading. The data analyzing method was t-test through the statistics program SPSS 12.0. The result of this study is as follows : First, the experimental group got a more meaningful score than the control group at the test. Second, pre-reading activities for providing prior knowledge of the text were affected by the student's English proficiency, peculiarly more effective on low level student than advanced level. Studying English reading through schema activation led the students to be present in classes with interests, so the experimental group showed more academic accomplishments than the control group.

Image metadata is used to describe the contents, structures, and features of a given image data. There exist lots of image metadata-related standards. Such image metadata need to be shared to efficiently search the correct images in Web Service-enabled distributed environments. In this thesis, we propose an interoperable system architecture for utilizing image metadata and query extension methods using metadata mapping for correct and efficient image searching. In the proposed methods, the provider schema using non-standard image metadata are mapped into the schema based on the VRA standard, which is used as a basic and intermediary standard in MDR(MetaData Registry). We support mapping operations between the VRA standard and other standards, to reduce the number of unnecessary mapping operations and to enable easier addition of schema based on new standards. Using the proposed query processing methods, which utilize image metadata and overcome their heterogeneity by metadata mapping, it is possible to severely improve the correctness of image retrieval. To show the usefulness of our schemes, we implemented a prototype system and performed retrieval performance evaluation on extended query processing.

WThe education information have been increased. Accordingly, the necessary of developing on education information metadata standards has been increased. By the reason, the Korea Education & Research Information Service developed KEM(Korea Educational Metadata) 2.0. And MPEG-7 was developed to describe metadata of multimedia data. In this paper, we developed a education information image retrieval system. This system used XML schema to accept education information image metadata. We integrated contents-based retrieval and a semantic-based retrieval to overcome there problems that content-based retrieval system can not support semantic-based retrieval and a semantic-based retrieval can not support content-based retrieval. As a results, we expect to handle metadata more efficiently.

As DNA microarrays are widely used recently, the amount of microarray data is exponentially increasing. Until now, however, no domestic system is available for the efficient management of such data. Because the number of experimental data in a specific laboratory is limited, it is necessary to avoid redundant experiments and to accumulate the results using a shared data management system for microarrays. In this paper, a system named WEMA (WEb management of Micro Arrays) was designed and implemented to manage and process the microarray data. WEMA system was designed to include the basic feature of MIAME (Minimal Information About a Microarray Experiment), and general data units were also defined in the system in order to systematically manage the data. The WEMA system has three main features: efficient management of microarray data, integration of input/ouput data, and metafile processing. The system was tested with actual microarray data produced by a molecular biology laboratory, and we found that the biologists could systematically manage and easily analyze the microarray data. As a consequence, the researchers could reduce the cost of data exchange and communication.

글과 그림 사이에서 진동하는 상호보완적 절층주의로부터 벗어나, 텍스트와 이미지의 벽을 넘어서서 신개념의 그래픽 문법으로 형성되는 ‘제3의 지지체(支持體, referance)'이길 바란다. 더 나아가서는 새로운 장르 개념의 ’참조들${\cdot}$frame work'이 조성되길 바라며 작업을 지속한다. 그 방버론의 적용으로는 보여지거나 인식되는 사물과 사태를 ‘서사적 조망${\cdot}$Narration View'으로 회유하여 서사묘${\cdot}$Narration Drawing, 혹은 서사회${\cdot}$Narration적 담론과 리사이틀의 체계를 구축하고자 한다. 따라서 나의 작업은 개념도 실재(행동)도 아닌 양자의 삼투막(?透幕)과도 같은 것으로 최소한의 표현, 그리고 그에 상응하는 선택과 결정이 주어지게 된다. 마치도 ’평면조건‘위에서 글도 아닌 도상적 스키마의 조그마한 끄나풀 하나를 붙들고 연명하는 미물의 절실함이 그것이리라. 또 한편에서는 글이기도 그림이기도한 한 ’이코노텍트성 Iconotextuality'의 보편적 열람성과 보존성의 현전의 세속적 희열과 자유로움을 느낀다. 일품 회화의 오리지날리티로 벗어나 ‘원고개념’을 전제한 작품제작의 출발은 A4 배상용지 위에서 실현된다. 끊임없이 증식되는 생물학적 상상력의 구축은 매카닉한 기계류의 반복과 중첩 이미지, 확대와 축소의 개념적 확산, 용품과 도구 tool character에 의한 드로잉의 산출 및 페인팅의 점착성으로 이어진다. 실제의 프레임과 패널, 액틀을 쓰지 않는 연유는 좀더 벽에 밀착하여 붙이기를 원하기 때문이다.

최근 인터넷의 발달에 따라 XML 문서의 사용과 각종 영상정보의 양이 크게 증가되었다. 이에 따라 XML 문서를 관리하기 위한 XML 데이터베이스의 필요성과 메타데이터 표준화에 대한 중요성이 증가되고 있다. XML 데이터베이스는 XML 문서의 특성을 고려하여 그 특성을 효율적으로 지원할 수 있다. 또한 국내에서는 교육정보분야 메타데이터 표준인 KEM 2.0이 제정 되었고 국외에서는 멀티미디어 데이터에 대한 표준으로 MPEG-7이 제정이 되었다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 MPEG-7을 기반으로 KEM 2.0을 이용한 영상정보 XML 스키마를 생성하고 이를 이용한 영상정보 검색시스템을 XML 데이터베이스 기반으로 설계하고자 한다. 본 논문에서 설계하는 XML 데이터베이스 기반의 영상정보 검색시스템은 XML 문서에 대한 빠른 저장과 검색이 가능할 것이다. 또한 검색 기능에 있어서는 키워드 기반의 의미기반 검색과 유사 이미지를 통한 내용기반 검색, 그리고 이를 내용기반과 의미기반을 통합한 검색 기능을 제공할 것이며 XML 문서에 대한 강력한 질의 수단인 XQuery 질의를 포함하게 될 것이다.

The KML verification tool supports people who want to produce the highest quality KML file. In other words, it validate that a given KML document is well-formed with respect to XML standard meaning, and conform not only to the KML schema and the specification. Then it's only to notify error code line. People who want to use the KML file written by others would like to know both whether the validity of that file and general summary of feature's location, shape, and number. In this study, we recommended the user-friendly KML validator using OpenLayers and reporting geometries and images of the KML file.

Recently various electronic books (I-Book) based on PDA (personal digital assistance) that we can easily use anytime and anywhere have been developed. Volume and weight of the E-Book is much less than that of traditional books. In that reason, it is easy to carry and serve us with contents by diverse functions such as searching, bookmark, dictionary, and playing of color image, sound or moving picture. On account of these advantages, many products connected with I-Book have been emerged in the market. However a product connected with educational contents is scarce, because it requires not only normal function but also additional functions such as a problem solving. Therefore it is actually necessary to develop a browser and an editor for educational contents. In this paper, we express educational contents by XML and define structure of document with XML schema. Then, we design and implement an editor and a browser that can manage educational contents on PDA.

The Contents and Scopes of Study Development are as follows. There are input of text, image and moving image data for traffic safety education, establishment of hierarchical relation for traffic safety education, relation analysis between traffic safety education information and design of hyper link structure between them, thesaurus implementation for traffic safety education system, design and implementation of information retrieval engine based on thesaurus, design and implementation of database schema for traffic safety education and GUI implementation for user.

An increasing in quantity of multimedia data brought a new problem that expected data should be retrieved fast and exactly. The adequate representation is a key element for the efficient retrieval For this reason, the MPEG-7 standard was established for description of multimedia contents in 2001. Recently, the new metadata were developed to represent characteristics of movie information resources by Korea Federation of Film Archives. In this paper. we designed and implemented a movie information retrieval system. This system used XML schema to accept movie information metada. This system offers a keyword retrieval using high-level metadata based on movie information and similarity retrieval using low-level metadata based on MPEG-7. As a result, that ill be Possible more efficient movie information interchange . movie information metadata reuse and fast retrieve.
