Realistic 3-dimensional using computer graphics Expression of Human illustrations (컴퓨터그래픽스를 이용한 사실적인 3D 인물 일러스트레이션의 표현)

  • A human face figure is a visual symbol of identity. Each different face per person is a critical information differentiating each person from others and it directly relates to individual identity. When we look back human history, historical change of recognition for a face led to the change of expression and communication media and it in turn caused many changes in expressing a face. However, there has not been no time period when people pay attention to a face more than this time. Technically, the advent of computer graphics opened new turning point in expressing human face figure. Especially, a visual image which can be produced, saved, and transferred in digital has no limitation in time and space, and its importance in communication is getting higher and higher. Among those visual image information, a face image in digital is getting more applications. Therefore, 3d (3-dimensional) expression of a face using computer graphics can be easily produced without any professional techniques, just like assembling puzzle parts composed of the shape of each part ands texture map, etc. This study presents a method with which a general visual designer can effectively express 3d type face by studying each producing step of 3d face expression and by visualizing case study based on the above-mentioned study result.

  • The process of selecting a small number of representative colors from an image of higher color resolution is called color image quantization. In a color quantization process, it is vet important to determine what colors should be preserve and the others not. In our study, by the idea of an image can be divided into interesting area and uninteresting area, we propose a color quantization method that preserves more colors in the interesting area of an image. We evaluated correctness of extracting interesting area and compared the quality of our method with the others.

  • 본 논문에서는 에지 디스크립션 템플릿을 이용한 개념기반 이미지 검색 모델을 제안한다. 이 모델은 하나의 개념과 관련된 여러 형태의 이미지 템플릿들을 명시한 지식베이스를 채용한다. 여기서, 이미지 템플릿은MPEG-7국제 표준으로 채택된 에지 히스토그램 디스크립션 방법으로 표현된다 따라서, 하나의 이미지는 자신의 에지 히스토그램과 유사한 템플릿를 가지는 개념으로 색인될 수 있기 때문에 이 모델은 방대한 이미지에 대한 자동 색인과 개념기반 검색을 지 인할 수 있다.

  • 공간 관계는 이미지나 멀티미디어 데이터를 검색하기 위한 시스템에서 오브젝트들을 표현하는데 중요한 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 검색 방식과 다르게 이미지에 있는 여러 오브젝트들간의 공간 관계와 각 오브젝트들이 가지고 있는 특징을 이용한 새로운 방식의 이미지 데이터 검색기법을 제안한다. 이것은 질의와 데이터베이스 내에 있는 이미지들간의 유사성을 효율적으로 계산하는데 유용하다. 또한 각 오브젝트의 공간정보와 특징들에 대한 정보들이 XML형태로 주석 처리되어 있기 때문에 이전 검색 기법보다 정확도가 높다. 마지막으로 제안한 검색기법을 이용한 이미지 검색 시스템을 구현하여, 실제 데이터를 검색함으로써 성능을 평가하였다.

A Comparative Study on the Image characteristics in Traditional Palaces of Korea, China and Japan (한 중 일 궁궐 건축의 이미지 특성 비교 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the unique image characteristics of Korea and identify the Korea culture by comparing the image characteristics of traditional palaces of Korea, China and Japan. This study identifies the unique image characteristics of Korea through a comparative analysis the image of three nations. Literature research, free association measurement, survey were conducted to select study objects and descriptive words. 5 outside-pictures and 2 inside-pictures of the Changduckung, the Forbidden City, the Nijo castle representing each country's traditional palaces were chosen as study objects. A questionnaire was made with 47 descriptive words and 5-scale measurement. The results of analysis are as follows. The representative words to express the image characteristics of Korea, China and Japan traditional palaces are adornment, stability, openness, lines, unfamiliarity, feminine. This study researched the common and different factors between the image characteristics in traditional palaces of Korea, China and Japan. The common image is the image of lines. The distinctive characteristics of Korea are stability, curved lines and femininity. The characteristics of China are adornment and straight lines. And, the characteristics of Japan are simplicity, unfamiliarity, and openness. Based on the research, it was found out that stability and curved lines are the main characteristics of Korea. This study researches the characteristics of images of Korea, China and Japan. This study shows the common and different factors of image characteristics of in the neighboring three nations of East Asia. Due to the geographical and cultural effect over a long time, the Korea was evaluated as the middle cultural between China and Japan. However, this study found unique characteristics of Korea's image.

Hair and Fur Synthesizer via ConvNet Using Strand Geometry Images

  • In this paper, we propose a technique that can express low-resolution hair and fur simulations in high-resolution without noise using ConvNet and geometric images of strands in the form of lines. Pairs between low-resolution and high-resolution data can be obtained through physics-based simulation, and a low-resolution-high-resolution data pair is established using the obtained data. The data used for training is used by converting the position of the hair strands into a geometric image. The hair and fur network proposed in this paper is used for an image synthesizer that upscales a low-resolution image to a high-resolution image. If the high-resolution geometry image obtained as a result of the test is converted back to high-resolution hair, it is possible to express the elastic movement of hair, which is difficult to express with a single mapping function. As for the performance of the synthesis result, it showed faster performance than the traditional physics-based simulation, and it can be easily executed without knowing complex numerical analysis.

  • 일련의 캐릭터를 표현할 경우 대상의 외형은 물론 질감표현 역시 중요한 요소이다. 3D 프린터의 보편화로 외형 표현은 비교적 쉽게 이루어질 수 있으나 질감표현은 여러 한계로 인해 표현이 어렵다. 본 연구는 2D 이미지 기반의 UV 맵 및 관련 입체화 기능을 활용해 3D 프린팅에 적용 가능한 재질표현 과정을 기술한다. 사실적 재질 표현을 위해 3D 모델의 UV 맵과 그 위에 여러 물성의 재질을 부착 후 정합하여 그 결과의 효과도 논의하고자 한다.

A Study on Intelligent Image Database based on Fuzzy Set Theory (퍼지이론에 기초한 지적 감성검색시스템에 관한 연구)

  • Among Human Sensibility-oriented products a gap between the images that designers try to express through that product and users emotional evaluation becomes an issue. The data on the correlation between image words used for design evaluation and images used in the design process are especially significant. This study based on these correlations suggests a Fuzzy retrieval system supporting styling design with images and image words. In the system, the relational data are demonstrated by Fuzzy thesaurus as correlation coefficient from the degree of similarity among image words. And the degree of similarity is produced based on image evaluation. Image retrieval is conducted by the algorithm of Fuzzy thesaurus development, 1) among image words, 2) images to image words, 3) image words to images and 4) among images: 4 different modes are provided as retrieval modes. Also transfer between modes is carried by direct operating interface, therefore divergent thinking and convergent thinking is supported well. The system consists of operation for the gap and the measurement unit of emotional evaluation, and visualization units. Under unified interface environments are set in order for consistency of the operation.

  • 인터넷과 웹과 같은 정보사회의 교육환경 변화에 따른 교육정보의 교류 수요의 급속한 증가에 따라 교육정보 자료에 대한 메타데이터의 표준이 필요하게 되었다. 이에 따라 국내에서는 개별적으로 개발되고 있는 교육정보 자료를 통합적으로 공유, 재사용하기 위하여 KEM(Korea Education Metadata) Ver 2.0을 한국교육학술정보원에서 개발하였다. 또한 해외에서는 최근 급증하고 있는 멀티미디어 데이터의 적절한 표현을 위하여 MPEG-7 표준이 제정되었다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 형태의 교육정보 자료 중에서 교육정보 이미지에 대한 검색시스템을 설계하였다. 본 검색시스템의 설계는 한국교육학술정보원에서 개발된 KEM Ver 2.0을 수용하기 위하여 교육정보 이미지의 메타데이터 표현을 KEM Ver 2.0에서 제안된 메타 데이터 표현을 MEPG-7으로 확장한 XML 스키마를 사용하였다. KEM Ver 2.0 기반의 high-level 메타데이터와 MEPG-7 기반의 low-level 메타데이터를 이용함에 따라 국내에서 사용되는 교육정보 이미지의 상호교환 뿐 아니라 체계적이고 빠른 검색과 추출이 가능할 것이다.

  • The purpose of this study is to express imagination which is not limited to the description of the facts and reproduce the photos as a media to explore the new possibilities for creative expression and the experience of the day-to-day operations for the implementation of the scheme of art genre. The art work for this study using digital images in Autodesk Combustion Workspace as the upper and lower layers were synthesized using the Transfer Mode feature. This study proposed a new photomontage production model, and challenged for the Possibility of a variety of visual representations of media art. Especially the production presents in this study can be applied to various video.
