  • To enhance network efficiency, named-data networking (NDN) implements data caching functionality on intermediate network nodes, and then the nodes directly respond to request messages for cached data. Through the processing of request messages in intermediate node, NDN can efficiently reduce the amount of network traffic, also solve network congestion problems near data sources. Also, NDN provides a data authenticate mechanism so as to prevent various Internet accidents caused from the absence of an authentication mechanism. Hence, through applying NDN to various smart IT convergence services, it is expected to efficiently control the explosive growth of network traffic as well as to provide more secure services. Basically, it is important factors of NDN which data is cached and where nodes caching data is located in a network topology. This paper first analyzes previous works caching content based on the popularity of the content. Then ii investigates the hitting rate of caches in each node of a network topology, and then propose an improved caching scheme based on the result of the analyzation. Finally, it evaluates the performance of the proposal.

  • As individuals generate and share various content anytime and anywhere, new networking architectures, such as content-centric networking (CCN) using the content name as a packet identifier, have been in the spotlight recently. However, the current CCN hardly takes into account node mobility problems, especially the mobility of content sources. The movement of content sources causes long delivery latency and long service disruptions. To solve that, the tunneling-based redirection scheme was proposed. However, the tunneling-based scheme requires a location-update procedure whenever the network changes, which creates many control messages and causes long latency. So, this paper presents hierarchical mobility management of mobile CCN to reduce the number of control messages and handoff latency. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed scheme can provide low control overhead, which results in network scalability.

  • Unlike an existing IP routing methods, the Content Centric Network(CCN) is new networking paradigm to find the contents by content name. The CCN can effectively process the content requested repeatedly by the user because of the cache which can be storing a content. This paper proposes a popularity based cache replacement scheme. The proposed scheme improves the hit rate better than a existing scheme. Accordingly reducing the load of server and Round Trip Time(RTT).

  • Evarything as a Service (XaaS) is a software, platform, infra distribution method which provide users with necessary modules, not entire modules, as a service. To efficiently and securely operate services such as XaaS, it is needed to solve various Internet problems like network congestion, weak security and so on. Future Internet technologies are provided to solve such problems. Specially, named data networking architecture (NDN) proposes that network nodes cache transmitted data, and then they send the cached data if receiving request messages for the cached data. So NDN can efficiently diffuse excessive request messages transmitted toward original contents providers. However, when receiving contents through NDN, receivers can not confirm the practical providers because the practical providers can be different from original contents providers. Hence, it is requested for receivers to verify the received contents and such a verification process can cause service delay of XaaS. In this paper, we improve a content verification scheme of NDN to enhance the performance of services such as XaaS.

  • Content-Centric Networking(CCN) is a new networking paradigm to search for the routing information needed to find a data from the content name, unlike conventional IP networks. In CCN, the mobility management, one of the CCN challenges, is consists of consumer mobility and content provider mobility. Among both, in the case of the content provider mobility, it requires too much overhead and time to update routing information on the corresponding routers. In this paper, we propose Popularity-based Pushing CCN(PoPCoN) which considers the content popularity to support effective mobility of content provider in CCN. Our proposed algorithm shortens content download time for the consumer and reduces the network overhead during mobility as compared to the existing approaches.

  • Content-centric networking (CCN) is a future Internet technology to reorganize the paradigm of end-to-end communication of the current IP-based Internet architecture into a content-based paradigm. In managing such new networks, the network management is one of the most important functions. The standard for typical network management in existing IP networks is Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Though there have been several works to implement network management functions on CCN, they have their own limitations to apply them to pure CCN operational environments. The basic reason of the limitation is that existing methods operate in an IP-overlay structure, or do not support push-type information exchange. In this paper, we propose a new naming structure that can accommodate both pull and push-type SNMP methods for CCN network management with SNMP. Then, methods to support GET and TRAP methods as well as a SET method of SNMP in the pure CCN environment using the proposed naming structure are proposed. We implement the proposed method using CCNx, and construct a CCN network testbed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method by monitoring appropriate exchange of SNMP messages over the testbed.
