Structural and Parametric Analysis for a Motorcycle Rear Frame using Co-rotational Shell Elements (Co-rotational Shell 요소를 이용한 모터사이클 후방프레임 구조 해석 및 설계변수해석)

  • In this paper, parametric structural analysis is presented utilizing the co-rotational(CR) shell analysis utilizing EDISON. CR shell analysis shows faster convergence than the commercial software, NASTRAN, does. The 1st natural frequency of the rear frame is obtained, which is close to that of the engine during high speed cruise. Three cases under two design variables are presented and analyzed. Gusset is shown to be more effective among those which feature the same weight change. The results presented in this paper will be applicable for further researches to improve the durability of a motorcycle rear frame.

Development and Implementation of Functions for Mobile Robot Navigation (이동 로봇의 자율 주행용 함수 개발 및 구현)

  • This paper describes implementation of functions for mobile robot localization, which is one of the vital technologies for autonomous navigation of a mobile robot. There are several function libraries for mobile robot navigation. Some of them have limited applicability for practical use since they can be used only for simulation. Our research focuses on development of functions which can be used for localization of indoor robots. The functions implement deadreckoning and motion model of mobile robots, measurement model of range sensors, and frequently used calculations on angular directions. The functions encompass various types of robots and sensors. Also, various types of uncertainties in robot motion and sensor measurements are implemented so that the user can select proper ones for their use. The functions are tested and verified through simulation and experiments.

An Analysis of the Effects of Fuel-transition in Transportation Sector: Focusing on Business Cars (수송부문 연료전환 효과 분석: 사업용 승용차 부문을 중심으로)

  • Broad effects of fuel-transition in all type of ground transportation have occurred with the help of the advances in electric vehicle (EV) technologies and the increases in EV supply. This research estimates the economic benefit of air environmental improvements, which results from the fuel-transition of high-mileage business cars(taxies) in metropolis. If we consider power production sector for EV operation, some air pollutants will be produced. In this respect, this research takes both the mixture of power sources in power production level and the driving pattern of business cars into account when investigating the economic benefit in air environment resulted from the fuel-transition of business cars(taxies). According to our results, the business cars' fuel transition from LPG to electricity brings about 21.5₩/km (8.6million won/year) of economic benefit in air environment. These results emphasize the necessity and appropriateness of public polices for expanding power production with renewable energies and facilitating EV distribution.

  • An OHT(Over Head Transportation) vehicle is an example of the industrial monorail vehicle, and it is used in the automobile, semiconductor, LCD manufacturing industries. OHT vehicle is moved by main wheels and guide rollers. The major function of the main wheel is to support and drive the OHT vehicle. The roles of the guide roller is the inhibition of derailment and steering of the OHT vehicle. Since the required vehicle velocity becomes faster and the required load capacity is increased, the durability characteristics of the wheel and roller, which was made of urethane, need to be increased. So it is necessary to estimate the fatigue life cycle of the wheel and roller. In this study, OHT dynamic model was developed by using the multi body dynamic analysis program ADAMS. Wheel and roller are modeled by the 3-D surface contact module. Especially, motor cycle tire mechanics is used in the wheel contact model. The OHT dynamic model can analyze the dynamic characteristic of the OHT vehicle with various driving conditions. And the result was verified by a vehicle traveling test. As a result of this study, the developed model is expected to predict wheel dynamic load time history and makes a contribution to design of a new monorail vehicle.
